i went nutsss when POTF hit stores in the late 90s! I went so far as to get a summer job at Toysrus just so i can get the new figures! All my paychecks basically went back to the store every week!
The heir to the empire stuff is selling for big money because it is the first time anybody heard about Thrawn. Tron is popular because of that show that we didn’t watch, Asoka. Love the video, junkman! Robert from Hollywood
I’ve collected some of these while PotF were still pretty cheap, but most of the higher priced listings here for PotF figures look like mostly signed or factory error carded figures to me.
@@Barada73 I doubt they were also. :) The 90s were the start of variants being so ubiquitous. When it comes to L-shaped latches and straight latches on the R5-D4, that ceases to be a variant.
I remember when all the american card companies finally got to make Hockey Cards in 1990 because the Topps/Opeechee monopoly contract ended.... the baseball phenomenon of "error card versions" hit hockey and all of us in Canada thought americans must be idiots to allow so many mistakes.... the first Proset set apparently had over 150 error cards.
Hasbro should offer a buy back program for POTF2 figures. Trade two old figures for the new vintage collection fugures. They could melt the old figures down and get more plastic to use to make the newer better figures. It'd be a win win for everyone involved.
I've got a lot of that stuff still in boxes, including full set of Dark Horse Heir to the Empire comics. (oh damn, my cat just sat on a tube of super glue and now he's run off with it...)
I remember I'd stock up on Darth Vader w/ long saber every chance I got. Never could find a Boba Fett with anything other than a full circle to save my life. Thanks for the video
The vehicles that were reissues of the original ones were never worthless, especially the big ones like the AT-AT and Millenium Falcon. I admit that I am now having a nostalgia soft spot for POTF2 now. It was fun as hell collecting it at the time, and I dare any "hardcore toy snob" to deny it because it's 100% the fault of adult toy collectors buying the stuff by the ton and saving it all MOC for why it ended up worthless.

The POTF Series had so many choices for the collector that branched out into the Episode 1 Series. These included variants on a scale that Star Wars had not yet seen. Worry not Outlander, I'll site examples. Dozens of 35mm Freeze Frames. 12 Flashbacks. Multiple Foiled Cardbacks. Numbered Comm Chips. I could go on but then you'd have less time to get your hands on the figures you want, and I don't want to stand in the way of destiny...I'll leave you with my favorite POTF figure: Oola & her runner up, Pote Snitkin.😊

@@ciscodeer9094 I still love this line. This is where I came in/started collecting Star Wars. Not only did collectors not open the figures, but the more fans bought, the more figures Hasbro/Kenner made.
I still don’t think POTF2 was produced in the same quantities as vintage Kenner during the height of that line’s popularity. The main difference, though, is that vintage Kenner was mostly bought for kids, who played with the toys, and POTF2 was mostly bought by collectors, who stored them away and never opened them.
I recently got two items in the thumbnail (Boba Fett and the Classic Edition 4-Pack) and Boba was $25. the 4-pack was like 35-40 but considering we have the retro collection its appropriate.
Nobody wants these figures. I've currently got a complete set of the first wave of 9 figures for sale on Mercari. They are in near mint condition and are listed for $70 (that's like $7.50 a figure). I've had them up for two weeks without even a nibble. I'll probably be lucky to sell them for what I paid for them almost 30 years ago.
Youre looking at very rate variants and items autographed by actors who have passed on. Look at some of the common figures they are still mostly around $10. Even stuff from the acolyte and rise of skywalker will be worth that much in 25 years.
Just an opinion here Junkman, but I can't see the vast majority of those 90s toys being worth any real money for one reason, there's just too many of them. I've seen pics and videos of people who had plastic tots full of them.
They are basically worthless unless you are selling as part of a complete collection or they are mint making them rare, because so many have damaged cardbacks or imperfect paint on the toy.
I really liked some of those figures, but He-Man Luke and R2 with shooting lightsaber looked horrible. R2 looked like he was really happy to see Leia in that slave outfit with that 3rd leg...
Some consider anything over 20 years old vintage, but seems a more acceptable age is 40 or more years. It's getting there. I know the old codgers will disagree, but for those of us who grew up with this line, it'll always be a little special to us. And I bet a lot of older collectors are just bitter they bought all this stuff up assuming it'd turn to gold for them eventually. 😅
Eventually people will start needing to make more room in their homes or getting rid of their storage units and maybe, just maybe these babies will start becoming more valuable or maybe not🤣🤣🤣
those prices cant be right! just because some nit wit found a bunch of 90s star wars figs and think they have a gold mine, DOES NOT mean thats what they are worth!!
they are probably all from the same seller, that doesnt have a clue about star wars or the value of the figs! prob doesnt even realize that these are horrible figs that nobody really wants!
The '90s SW stuff is sh*t. It was nice to see SW figures back in stores again after a decade, but I never liked these new action-figures. As far as I'm concerned, you couldn't give this junk away for free - these figures are only good for people to use for custom modelling and nothing else. The sound quality for this video is sh*t - you sound like you're speaking underwater. 🧜♂

There are so many variations of that 1996 Boba Fett figure, that I find it hard to believe they were all an accident.

The ones I went after the most was variant packaging of short saber long tray and any miscarded figures. I also looked for "12 backs" on the red card.
Those are likely worth more, like the figures in this video.😊

I had fun hunting and collecting these like many people did, but I should've put that money into gold. I'd be retired by now in my early 50s.
Finally, my 1995 Farm Boy Luke figure is going up in price. Yea.
Was giving 250 of those POTF2 figures MOC and opened every one of them. I got tired of them taken up space.
I’m a pro flea market guy…and I see these all the time..we got ripped off…we spent tons of money and they ain’t worth shit
Answer is no… inflation prices, sure cause 20-25$ per figure is worth 5$ if it were 1996
Mmmm. Power of the Force? Or, Beanie Babies? Tough choice to be the next door stopper.
What was that noise? Oh yeah, another POTF figure fell over on my shelf....again!🙄🙄

Too true, I went to a toy convention once, and a fella had a whole display wall full of them he was selling for a song.

POTF2 is closer to the age of the original stuff than the stuff that's out now. IT'S VINTAGE. it's just not original stuff.
