- Millions of children dream about playing in the NBA, all that make it have one thing in common; height. If that's all it takes, then this 7'9" tall man should be on the top of the chain. He's only an inch away from being the world's tallest man. Born and raised in China, Sun Mingming has come to America with a giant-sized dream. We followed Sun Mingming for an entire year to find out, could his towering height become the stuff of basketball legend?

story update: unfortunately he get undraft on NBA, and then he played in Japan. In 2009, he went back to China and played in the CBA team Beijing Ducks.
He won two CBA titles with Stephon Marbury. he retired in 2014.

I'm surprised he only has a size 19 shoe and 7'8" arm span. Shaq's shoe size is over 20.Most guys have arm spans longer than their height, some a lot longer. Still a 7'8" arm span is gigantic. Too bad he never made the NBA. Probably too slow and can't run up and down the floor much.
Yao Ming also had a shorter arm span than height. Shaq had the largest shoes of any NBA player, even other guys who were taller

You know it really sucks for people like Sun and even Andre the Giant. See the human heart is meant only to support up to a certain size of the human body. People Shaq Yao really anyone close to and over 7 feet tall are at risk but with the added giantism, it's an even bigger risk. I wouldn't be surprised if us as human start seeing babies born with the genetic markers to be extremely tall or from a family with the pituitary tumor marker be born with 2 hearts to better regulate the circulatory systems in these larger humans. While now it would seem like something out of science fiction, it may become science reality. But man my heart goes out to this gentle giant.

It doesn’t work like that. The muscle he gained wouldn’t be enough to accomodate the extra weight, he’d struggle to stand and jump.
