It’s the d12VR. I own both. Sm7b has a more mid presence but a great overall response. D12vr has more bass and a bit more top with a scoop in the right spot for kick. If you like the organic sound of sm7b an re20 or 421 also gets it.
Curious to know the answer to this. I would've gone the other way as most posters, I feel Nb 2 has more the frequency response I'm used to hearing on a D12.
@@isindie Thanks, yeah I was about 99% sure, the D12 has a really specific sound. Both are useable here, really depends on context! thks for the shootout
AKG d12 - #2
Hah. Thanks
lol. oh wow. sure that Mic is alright? Should have a lot more bass!

i think i know what happened, capsules are not aligned, the sm7b is more outside, that may be the cause

This is a vintage d12. They sound quite different from the d12vr imo. I like the d12 more too.
Is the EQ on the 7B flat?
D12 = 1
2 sounds better, in context and solo'd. I have a d12, and sadly my guess is that it is mic number 1. Whatever is number 2 slaughters 1

D12 is 2nd. You’re right.
