      @@DannyJSchaefer Yes. Trying to. Didn't win the lottery for Enchantments, but have a close by spot reserved for Aug. Want to make some hay and memories.

      @DannyJSchaefer  3 года назад

      Right on. Check out the Tank Lakes to Necklace Valley loop - I hear it gives the Enchantments a run for its money. August would be just the ticket for it and it’s on my list.

    Great tips! Did you use a bear bag or canister?

    • @DannyJSchaefer
      @DannyJSchaefer  3 года назад

      Thanks Karina! To be honest I didn't use either. Up until this year I never hung my food or concealed it in any way. Now, I carry around a Ursack XL and it's fantastic. At Spade, I wasn't really concerned with bears, but critters are out there and if they're hungry enough they'll get into your pack. The Ursack is great because it's critter proof and I think it'd be great for Spade. Thanks for watching and for subbing to the channel - really appreciate the support!

    Any good Hammock spots at Spade? We are headed up in a couple weeks. Also - were you able to spot that sunken plane at Spade?

    • @DannyJSchaefer
      @DannyJSchaefer  3 года назад +1

      I would say that up on the eastern ridge above where we camped there'd probably be a spot or two you could make work.. There's actually some trees up there compared to the rocky shore that we were at. And no! I haven't heard of a sunken plane up at Spade.. do you have any more information on that?

    • @iimurrman
      @iimurrman 3 года назад +1

      @@DannyJSchaefer I unfortunately only have very little evidence except for two separate forum posts I found online in forums. If you Google "Piper Super Cub Spade Lake" you should find them. One of them is from a Cle Elum local so it seems legit.

    Do you need a special overnight permit as well?

    • @DannyJSchaefer
      @DannyJSchaefer  3 года назад +1

      No overnight permit needed for this one - just a Northwest Forest Pass to park your vehicle at the trailhead. There’s a little free permit you fill out at the trailhead, but that’s all. Did that answer your question? Thanks for watching the video!

      Awesome man! If you think about it, you'll have to report back here after your trip - would love to hear how it went! I will definitely look those up. I remember researching Tank Lakes last year, but completely forgot about them until now.. Might be a trip for the upcoming backpacking season. Thanks again for watching!
