--------
Tony Yayo shared his perspective on movie classics, especially those from the 80s and 90s, questioning whether contemporary films can match their timeless appeal. The conversation kicked off with excitement about "Beat Street" being adapted for Broadway, but quickly shifted to a debate about classic films versus modern releases.
Tony Yayo highlighted iconic movies such as "Scarface," "Goodfellas," and "The Godfather," noting their lasting impact and comparing them to recent films. DJ Vlad, somewhat agreeing, mentioned the animated "Spider-Man" series and "Dune" as standout modern films but conceded they might not achieve the same legendary status.
Both agreed that the streaming era has changed the dynamics of filmmaking, with royalties and ephemeral content affecting the longevity of contemporary movies. They concluded that 80s and 90s films, including "Shawshank Redemption," "Pulp Fiction," and "Home Alone," have an enduring quality and remain benchmarks of cinematic excellence, unlike much of today's output.
80s and 90s was the best era of movies for sure
Fax💯
And Early 2000’s💯
And music too !!!
Yeaa for sure, now a days they just make reboots of older movies it’s kinda sad.. no new ideas at all
70s decade as well.
I agree with Yayo. Most movies now are aren’t original.
Ur crazy and not tapped in. There are Denis Villeneuve, Eggers, Aster, Safdie Brothers, and many many other directors putting out 🔥
Cuh they on bad boys 12
Everything today is a unwanted remake
It's also hard because so many ideas are taken
"My man sleeping over there"
"Im not sleeping" 😂😂😂😂😂
He sound fat and like he woke up 😂
Mfer said " I seen part of it"
He was asleep on the other parts
yooo lmao Yayo face tho!
he sd they he aint raise his hand and pointed at the kid... im dead
Rush hours classics belly vcr tapes come on my baby
Terminator 2, Boyz N The Hood, Pulp Fiction, Die Hard, Scarface, Aliens, Juice, New Jack City, Forrest Gump, Goodfellas, Indiana Jones trilogy, Predator, Reservoir Dogs, Menace 2 Society, Beverly Hills Cop, Lion King, Jurassic Park, Home Alone, Back To The Future, Seven, Ghostbusters, Trading Places already means the 80s and 90s won.
T2 for sure
The Departed
Training Day was a great movie
@@skiman5289 Training Day defintely was not the 90’s
Yasssssss
70s & 80s had the best movies, especially the 80s.
70s - Alien, Superman, Star Wars, Jaws, Shaft, Dog Day Afternoon, The Godfather 1 & 2, Serpico, The French Connection, Kramer vs. Kramer, The Exorcist, Enter the Dragon, Halloween, Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver, Dirty Harry, Rocky 1 & 2
80s - Back to the Future, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Scarface, Aliens, Ferris Bueller, Ghostbusters, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Last Dragon (yup, I said it), Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2, Coming to America, Batman, Superman II, Star Trek 2 - 4, Lethal Weapon 1 & 2, Gremlins, The Goonies, Do the Right Thing, Rocky 3 & 4, First Blood, Blade Runner, The Shining, The Terminator , Die Hard, A Christmas Story, Mad Max 2
Tony Yayo must have been locked up too much during the 90's. He messed up so many movie release dates.
Wolf of Wall Street is one of the best in the 2010s
One of my favorites.
My friend worked at Stratton Oakmont in the mid 90’s. Heard many of those stories back then…😂
2010’s had some hitters now wolf of Wall Street, avengers movies, black panther, guardians of the galaxy trilogy, avatar, planet of the apes trilogy, dark knight rise, dead pool movies, get out, John wick movies, Django, quiet place 80’s and 90’s were better in my opinion but early 2000’s and 2010’s were good too
Takers
its ight
Uncle buck was a classic
Yeah!!!!Stand By Me.
You definitely deserve more recognition for this!
Shawshank redemption was 94
They said 2000’s 😒
These guys dont know nothing without google!
Its ok bro. Yayo thought pulp fiction dropped in 2010 😂😂
I'm surprised yayo didn't say get rich or die trying😂
N he said home alone 3😂
Vlad is such a clown... Yayo is saying that. the movies from the 80s and 90s stand the test of time. Which is like anything made in that era.
Vlad shut up bro. Spider Man animated in the same sentence as Scarface, Goodfellas...
😂😂😂😂 Funny Thing Is Those Ain’t Even The Best Spider-Man Movies 😂
I can't believe Vlad even argued this. It's completely obvious the best movies were made 20-30 years old
Exactly.
Vlad is so lame comparing these timeless movies to spiderman animated movies lol. Out of touch
Best stuff is actually on TV now (Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones).
I do agree, 2 of the shows you named first came out more than 15 years ago tho 😂 but 100% I rather watch a great TV series than a 2 hour movie, any day
I was in a Barnes and Noble in Las Vegas about 2001. I overheard 3 different people, independent of each, say that they had to leave because the Sopranos was coming on.
No way. Tv shows in the 80 and 90's are better
Tv shows get the best content now. It's pretty hard to top older movies
The WIre
I made my son watch the classic movie Juice starring Tupac after he told me while he knew who Pac was he wasn't familiar with any of his work. He sat down and watched it stone faced. A week later I saw him watching it in a GROUP STREAM with his homies...they loved it and I agree with Tony our era is classic period
Gridlockd was my favourite PAC movie
@@user-nz5zc9kn2g a lot of people sleep on that one
Shawshank Redemption was 2001? He said Pulp Fiction was 2001? Tony Yayo is not a movie guy.
To be honest we saw most movies later on tv. It took years back then. At least when you're in your teens or childhoodnaround 90s
Bro. He was 16 when it came out. He definitely bought that on VHS a year after 😂
@@maroccomar2334 True but a movie guy researches and wanna be informed on things like that. It’s oxymoronic to present oneself as a movie buff and then say Pulp Fiction was released in 2001. lol
@@kj5394 im younger than he is and know it came out in 1995.
@@juanthyme1569 1994
I'm surprised Yayo didn't say Expendables 4 and Den of thieves. 😂
Not just movies but sitcoms aswell.
Definite sitcoms. No debate
💯
Uncle Buck 😂😂😂
😂😂 my cousin had that movie on VHS
@@Mikeswole54 you laughing but without Uncle Buck you don’t get Home Alone!
2000s: The Incredibles, Fast and The Furious, Spider-Man 1-3, Finding Nemo, Transformers, The Dark Knight, Training Day, Iron-Man, Collateral, Shrek 1-2, Snakes On A Plane, Shaft (2000), Scary Movie 1-2, How High, Never Back Down, Mean Girls, No Country For Old Men, Napoleon Dynamite, The Hangover, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Saw, I Am Legend, Stomp The Yard, Baby Boy, The Blindside, The Longest Yard, Sin City, Hellboy, Osmosis Jones, Diary Of A Mad Black Woman, ATL, Hustle & Flow, Roll Bounce etc...
2010s: Wolf On Wall Street, 21 Jump Street, Creed 1-2, Get Out, Uncut Gems, The Avengers, Black Panther, Deadpool...Honestly there's not much outside of that besides the Superhero movies.
Vlad acts like he's 21. Dude you're over 50. You know what the 80's and 90's were.
Dead Presidents, Higher Learning, New Jersey Drive, The Wood, The Brothers, Love & Basketball straight classics from the 90s golden era
2000s had classics:Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, There Will be Blood, Superbad, Spider-Man trilogy, shrek, Knocked Up, the Departed, Bourne series, Dark Knight Trilogy, No Country for Old Men, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Training Day, Casino Royale
I think you should add Shrek, American Psycho, Donnie Darko, Kill Bill, Casino Royale,
@@EazyRocko No country for Old Men is my joint!
@@DTCAllOver I put shrek in there
I Am Legend
@@EazyRocko not in the same league as 80s & 90s iconic films.
They need to start playing old movies in theatres for the new generation
That's a ripoff you can pretty much find any old movies on streaming
@@lamart3857 yeah but I mean for People that wanna see it on the big screen. It ain't gotta be full price either
The best era for all entertainment is the 1970’s. The 1970’s paved the way for everything you see since that decade.
Agree 70s was the best
I agree with them but they didn’t mention Gladiator and American Gangster which came out in the 2000s
Much love Yayo for working with the youth !
The Book of Eli good movie with Denzel Washington
Older movies, older cartoons and most definitely older music 💯
Did I just hear Yayo pronounce the "D" in Django??😳😅🤣
“DeeJango” 😂
He just got back from DeeJibouti eating caviar pancakes overseas
@kenfoke08 😂😂😂
Terminator 2….Casino…..Goodfellas
Bronx tale
I think i like older movies better cause the video quality. That grainy image is nostalgic to me
It’s because it was shot on 35mm film 🎞️ and directors still shoot on it but it does cost more
Method Man was in 187 and Cop Land, both movies from 1997. Dope ass movies btw!
They had that blueish photography of 90s.
My top 5 movies: Coming to America, The Equalizer, Django, wolf of Wall Street, Avatar..
The Matrix. Blade. Independence Day. Enemy of the State. Men in Black. Truman Show. Deep Impact. Goodfellas. The Sixth Sense. Batman Returns. Fight Club. Casino. Bronx Tale. Saving Private Ryan. The Pelican Brief. Forrest Gump. Jurassic Park. FRIDAY. Speed. Heat. Scream. Toy Story. Boyz N The Hood. Happy Gilmore. Bad Boys 1. Jerry Maguire. Braveheart. Space Jam. The Crow. Reservoir Dogs. Goldeneye 007. Total Recall. Menace II Society. The Mask. The Mighty Ducks. Angels in the Outfield. DragonballZ Tree of Might, The World’s Strongest, Cooler, Broly, Fusion, Bardok, History of Trunks. Above the Rim. Poetic Justice. Juice. The 90s….. Basically PEAK Denzel, Will Smith, Martin, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Wesley Snipes, Jim Carrey, Tupac and Ice Cube. GOATs.
Movies were better in the 80s and 90s. The special effects are better now. That’s why you see no originality. They’re remaking ghost busters Star Wars & shit like that.
modern TV series (mostly streaming platforms not actual TV) is the new movies. The only place that’s damn near absent of remakes
Original cinema is coming back.
Special effects aren't better now
@@allanthomas6097 you don’t think the effects and the cameras look better between Christopher Reeves Superman and the last Superman movie we had? Cmon man
@drob98 sure ot does, but the knew jurassic park movies are not as good as the first one. The 90s ninja turtle is better than now. Most new movie cgi looks fake. Effects was better when they were doining animatronics with cgi. They are to reliant on computers now and to me it looks fake
As a filmmaker and Student of Cinema I have to chime in. I tried to pick some movies here that would appeal to a cat like YAYO. There are far more excellent pictures that I know of that have been released since the 2010s. PLUS it takes TIME to recognize some films as classics. ‘Get Out’ being a rare “instant classic”.
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
The Town (2010)
Logan (2017)
Hell or High Water (2016)
1917 (2019)
Get Out (2017)
Sicario (2015)
Yo the town was a great movie ,also the departed .
Super dope ending shoutout Yayo
Depends on genres....action n horror n sci fi the 80s ruled...but dramas comedies n crime dramas the 90s ruled
U didn't get the message..😂
Aww that’s amazing what he’s doing with the kids! I met Yayo at a gas station near my job on Long Island and he was really funny and really nice. My co workers daughter went to school with his son and her daughter said he’s a nice kid. 👏 I love Tony Yayo interviews he’s so authentic, I appreciate that.
🤣🤣🤣 Scarface was my favorite movie when I was a kid 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m was going to argue but he named some good ass movies … he got you vlad blue hills avenue,
Harlem nights, New Jersey drive, in too deep, new jack city, fresh, menace 2 society, sugar hill. The wood, juice, south central…. I can go on and on vlad 😂😂😂 I missed those days fam
Scare face is child's play that's not a serious movie...watch carlito's way boy.
@@MoejiiOsmanTV that’s another one bro. That’s the point of the conversation. 80s 90s had incomparable movies fam
Maybe for the time it was good because of nostalgia but I watched new Jersey drive a couple years back and it was terrible plus the main protagonists were disrespectful, stupid and unlikeable
@@jordanhtiffirg1990 🤣🤣 those movies put in the same place as when I 1st experienced the movie. Those movies bring us memories of how life was during that time lol
@Tr3ysTak3 understandable but taking nostalgia away would you say it is still a good film?
Steven Spielberg was killing it in the 80s-90s
And he loves pizza
I totally agree with Yayo the the the late 80,s and 90s had some of the classic movies of all time!!
80s to 2000s - best eras of movies!!!!
Part 35 is crazy
Did vlad really start off wit dune Moana and Spider-Man 😂😂😂 💀
Moana lmfaoooo
A film review podcast hosted by Tony Yayo on Vlad TV would be dope 💯
Facts a modern version of siskel& ebert
SCARFACE
ALIENS
EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
GOODFELLAS
How is Vlad surprised that movies are trash now. It was bad for a decade, but covid was the nail in the coffin. Went from focus group films to Netflix algorithms. They are ticking boxes with small budgets. Movies suck now.
😂
@@RUclips_stole_my_handle I think social media perverted everything after 2010 when IG came out!
Vlad named Kids movies disney stuff and doesn't have a kid he is fukN creepy
I think it’s just harder to find the quality ones due to streaming. Thoroughbreds, Brimstone, Dragged Across Concrete, X, are some of my favorites of the last ten years but movies get lost in the mix.
Yayo watching Uncle Buck is hilarious to me
😅 yeah i wasn’t expecting that but it is a great movie!
@@tarajansen9856 agree 100%
Being a young man who was born in the 90s, I tend to watch older movies instead of the more recent ones that are coming out right now. There's few and far between to pick from, but nothing can beat what was made during the 70s, 80s and 90s.
Some of the movies I'll watch are Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, Twister, Heat, Jaws, Taxi Driver, Last Action Hero, The Terminator, Total Recall, Boyz N the Hood, Menace II Society, etc.
There are still absolutely great movies being made but Vlad was onto something when he mentioned the shift toward streaming which has dramatically upended the theater experience, box office metrics, and the fact that so many are out every week that dilute the attention and appreciation for them from audiences and word of mouth. With streaming, movies become more something to watch out of convenience at home rather than a experience, and that absolutely distorts the way we appreciate them compared to the 80's or 90's.
Carlito's way is a better film than Scarface.
I'll die on that hill. Al Pacino was a more convincing Puerto Rican than he was a Cuban 😂
Nah Carlitos way was good cause his character had more depth but Scarface was just raw as fuck.
Close but no cigar
@@EarlReed-y9m 💯I always say this & ppl disagree. They are both phenomenal but Carlitos Way had a better cast imo.
Agreed. Scarface is way overrated.
80s and 90s was best era for movies, 2000s have the best series
I just watched Casino yesterday nothing like those classic 80 and 90s movies can sprinkle early 2000s
Yayo a Real OG bar when he told them. Aye "No Gun signs ".... just a great respectful pic that appreciates and represents us Right 💪🏾💪🏾💯
Facts…. Classic and Movies With A Message
80s and 90s was the best era of life ever
Who doesn't love Tony Yayo!! Vlad, you should definitely talk about classic films more.
And watching them over the VCR made them more magical
Method Man's first movie role was in COPLAND
Such a good movie
I would love to do a movie critic show with Tony Yayo. I like how knowledge on movies
I be happy every time I found out that there is a interview with Tony Yayo in vlads tv
8:43 Anyone get the feeling VLAD is lining them up?
Most movies now are just rehashes of what we had back in the days
🎯 We’re in the era of TV series over movies now. I much rather watch a season of Severance, Dark Matter, Black Bird, 3 Body Problem, or Last Of Us than any movie that came out in the past 5 years

Loved the ending of this. Yayo is a good man, he talks about 50 a lot but he is honorable❤️🗣️
Fat Joe was in "Empire" when he pulled the lever for the recliner and the shotgun popped out over his head. 😅
I never comment but I been watching vlad for over 8yrs what Tony yayo said was big he told them young man not to throw up gun sign that show a real leader 💯
I was born in 1986 but I'd say 90's let's argue:
I was born in 89 the 90s would be right straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥
No argument lol it makes perfect sense that those of us born in the late 80s would’ve experienced & loved more 90s movies because we were still toddlers in the 80s
90s and 2000s are good but 2010s also had its 🔥 too film hasn’t fallen off at all
You can't forget the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the 90's 🤌

Yes...that was the golden age of film. 1960's to 2000!!
Why does Vlad act he don't know the older movies is better than a lot of late movies.
7:39 the movie with Fat Joe Yayo talking about was Empire
Bro said, "Goodfellas, Godfather, Scarface, Uncle Buck....I love Uncle Buck."
WTF 😂😂
Bruh, we're gonna be in 2070 still talking about the 90s
Definitely true. All the greatest movies ever already came out. 30s-70s and then 80s & 90s
70s was easily the best era for movies.Roots, Starwars, Godfather, Grease and American Graffiti my starting 5 win against any other era.
Goodfellas better than Godfather. So is Casino, Scarface, Carlito’s Way, and Donnie Brasco. Dazed and Confused better than American Graffiti. 70’s got some classics like Taxi Driver, Rosemary’s Baby, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Alien…
but I also think a lot are overrated. The Conversation? Last Picture Show? I don’t know. 90’s got Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Fargo, Rushmore, Election + all the black classics like Friday and Boyz in the Hood.
Damn, 70’s do got Cuckoo’s Nest and Last Detail. 70’s win just because all those 90’s flicks wouldn’t exist without their influence. Deer Hunter a classic too.
WE NEED MORE OG'S LIKE YAYO FOR THE YOUTH.
Gotta add the 2000s to the mix too fasho 💯 especially the early 2000s
We can't forget about the Jamaican movies-: Shottas, Third World Cop, Dancehall Queen. Those were hard too!!!
The 90's are the best ERA of movies!!! ALL TIME!!!
Shout out Yayo he out here holding summer camp field trips!!! 😂😂😂
You can rewatch the older movies over and over but movies nowadays you only watch them once
I Like What Yayo Is Doing With These Kids 🙏🏽Real Talk Of New York! Next Stop Should Be Breakfast Club, Or Take Them To 50’s Studios … Show Them Around. How Yal Make Music etc …
He'll Yeah Son sum of the BEST Movies Come from the 80's & 90's Son !!!! I was there & im Still Here !! Not Only Movie but TV Shows Also !!!!
Honestly the series and mini series that have been getting released by these streaming platforms have really taken over as far as original ideas, cinematography, and acting goes
80’s/90’s were the golden age of movies and entertainment.
All of these things are similar hip-hop movies basketball no matter how you look at it it gets really good and improves until the 90s and 2000s Then soon after that The quality drops even though the potential is through the roof.
Public enemy was the shit
I'd pay money to see yayo dressed up as a lord of the ring character
Shawshank redemption... 94 classic
Happy to see yayo and g unit foundation helping the youth, and Vlad putting it on
