Honest review : I wanted to try and make the caramel pudding for a long time but all the recipes I found before were kinda hard .. so I wasn’t really sure about this one ; but it’s AWESOME !....My mom always hated the caramel pudding when we buy it but she loved this one and asked me to do it more .. and I’ll definitely will ! 🖤💎lots and Lots of Love From Planet Ayurveda.

Today is my sister's b'day. Making this one for her. Pray that it turns out okay. Will let you all know how it was.
Edit : turned out okay however the caramelised sugar was overdone and it made the crust quite bitter. My sis didn't like it as the crust spoiled the dish. The custard beneath it was good and tasty.
My advice : keep the caramelised sugar to a lighter golden brown, don't go for dark brown plus heating the sugar on a nonstick pan is the best idea, you don't wanna spoil your skillet. Sugar may release a lot of froth (impurity) upon heating. Add some lemon juice or a spoon full of milk to burn up the impurity.
Bonus tip : RINSE YOUR SKILLET/PAN USED FOR CARAMELIZATION IMMEDIATELY WITH BOILING HOT WATER once you transfer caramelised sugar to your baking dish. DO NOT RINSE YOUR PAN UNDER COLD WATER otherwise you'll have to scrape the solidified sugar "candy" off your pan.

@@sonalmehra7202 no need to grease the pan for either the caramel or custard. Caramel eventually melts a bit and leaves the base when we steam cook the pudding. Notice the brown liquid that oozes out as we turn the pudding upside down? Yes, it's that molten, steamed and chilled caramel. Custard itself is of gel consistency. Doesn't stick to the base or the sides.

Trialed making this today and got a double thumbs up from my wife. Dead easy to make and tastes great. Just make sure you only have the caramel on the heat for a few seconds once it's liquefied or it burns really quickly (as I found out)! Great recipe!

This comes perfect i made it today only for a friends bday as we cant get cake in lockdown. It turned so well. Pro tip- use fruit cakes instead of bread it will add more taste.

I tried out this recipe, and it was wonderful. Just one suggestion, in case you are a little slow like me.
1/2 cup of sugar works just as fine to make the caramel. Because I couldn't cover the pan on time with 1/4 cup of sugar , and it left me with little holes

Just the sugar which was to be caramelized at low flame i did at medium and it was overcooked🔥 thats y it was a bit bitter😔 except it everything turned out well 🤤

I would suggest that you add a beaten egg to the milk mixture.. unless you are a vegan. While it tastes okay I found it lacks the richness that an egg brings to it.

Actually the caramel part is a bit tricky. You have to remove it from heat in just the right time i.e when it just starts browning. If u keep it even for a bit longer it will get burned and taste bitter.

Lovely presentation. To make it easier soak the bread in some milk and grind it to liquid. Add it to the remaining milk and sugar and bring it to boil and then add custard powder that is mixed with milk and stir till thick paste.

I tried making it and it turned out to be a good one, only the mistake I did was I demould the cake after steaming and the cake 🍰 breaked down into pieces but the taste was really good....
