I agree with you 💯% it's funny how we know somebody like each of these character. They all got along, had eachother back. Being young then you could relate with one of them. It could of been a sister, cousin, aunt, uncle, some relative or friend. In fact I still watch the reruns, I'm still laughing and enjoying the show. Lot of today's shows are a bit too much. Real housewives, a lot arguing, hating, backstabbing. Even the so called reality shows are a joke. Frankly I'd rather watch classic reruns or the paranormal channel. Take care, be safe. Be blessed always stay positive.✌🕯💜🦋🌠🧘‍♀️🌻🌷✨🙏. Love, respect and positivity always. Neita James. 🙂👋.

Who want to be more important than they are, complain about everything, constantly critize everybody else, can't see how selfish, head in the clouds, want to be treated like a queen, if a man don't have a good paying job or money she turn up her nose and pass them by. She looking for someone that can support her so she don't have to work. But in many ways you understand her, can learn what not to do and how not to be. Yet her character rounds out the cast and you have to admit she is funny.👍✌🕯🌻. Take care, be safe. Light and Blessings to you. Love, respect and positivity always. Nj.🧘‍♀️🙏💜🦋🌠🙂👋.

And that could be the real reason why the show didn't go on to have many more seasons. More often than not stereotypical behavior is expected from us than a positive image. Don't ever be knowledgeable and be black. Mass media can't or won't except it! Very sad and pitiful. But I'm not going to dumb myself down to anyone just to fit in! Ever!

@@notthefather3919 5 was the standard number for black sitcoms in the 90s. They would either get canceled before or after that sadly. Martin and Jamie Foxx also ended after 5 seasons. Fresh Prince only had one more with six (they even nearly canceled that after season 4 which is why it ended with Will back in Philly and then he was back in Bel Air without an explanation the following season). The thing that really made me love Living Single was the fact that I knew people like those characters. Kyle, Regine, Max, Khadijah, Sinclaire, and Overton were real people I could relate to. I could see myself and my cousins and my friends in them. The junk on BET and OWN today, especially that nonsense Tyler Perry produces, insults Black people. The characters don't act like adults, and the plots are just sensationalistic. They bring these ridiculous ideas to trick us into watching because they know what they're putting out is subpar. It's all a gimmick I loved Living Single, New York Undercover, and Girlfriends because I could relate. The same goes for The Cosby Show and A Different World. These were intelligent Black people making moves, and they were conscious.

I hate sounding like this, but you're giving a lot of black folks in this country too much credit. YOU might have related to them. I and others may have too. But there are lot of folks who didn't. I remember all the comments about The Cosby Show and A Different World being 'bougie' and 'unrealistic'. Tyler Perry does numbers because hate it or love it, there are A LOT OF BLACK PEOPLE in this country that really relate to those shows, simple as we might think they are. There's a great great book called "Disintegration" by journalist Eugene Robinson that talks about how some of the cultural divides we have within the black community came to be. Anyone who sees it, I recommend it as highly as possible.
