    Fabulous video once again Ollie...greatly appreciated. I noticed that you have a new roller gun. Did you make it? Or, is it a brand name of NZ. The rubber band setup had me intrigued. Take care. Happy and safe hunting over Easter. Cheers, Trev

      Hey Trevor, cheers mate. I was just testing that gun out for a mate who is building roller guns here in NZ. Yes, it's a normal roller gun but with an extra 'kicker band' for extra power. Plenty of grunt for a little gun! Thanks Trev, have a good Easter too

    Living in the PacNW of the states, I envy you Kiwi's for the water clarity you appear to get on a regular basis... Curious as to typical water temps and thickness of suits you dive in?

    • @olliecraig-primalpursuit
      @olliecraig-primalpursuit  2 года назад

      It's not always so clear, but we definitely have some places which are clear often. temp in north island where I dive ranges from 14-15 degrees celsius in Winter to 22 degrees in summer. 5mm in winter is fine and 3mm in summer. South island gets a lot colder, need 7mm in Winter 5mm good in summer,

    This is amazing Ollie!! How do you hold tight with the current? I find myself always been pushed out to deeper and have to swim 15 min back to the good spot found earlier

    • @olliecraig-primalpursuit
      @olliecraig-primalpursuit  3 года назад +1

      Maybe upgrade your fins? otherwise nothing you can do if current too strong, some spots you can only dive closer to the low or high tide when current not pushing so strongly

    Rollerguns shooting low can be caused by the wishbone riding up the muzzle. This can be fixed by using an uneven double wishbone. Coatesman spearfishing recently made a video about it

  • @perkar49

    FYI, bananas were deemed unwanted on long sea trips because they cause fruit n veg to ripen, scurvy was a killer..fresh fruit n veg saved lifes at sea..we release all our big snapper, and any needing a measure , and always the first..take enough for a feed.

    • @olliecraig-primalpursuit
      @olliecraig-primalpursuit  3 года назад +2

      Yep, known the history behind bananas, if I'm by myself I always take them out as great instant energy boost! Definetly only got enough for a feed, Me and Stu's family's ate well that week!

    How do you identify the direction of the current on to a rock for example? A) for one breaking the surface and B) for a bombie under the surface. I find it difficult to identify the “pressure points”

    • @olliecraig-primalpursuit
      @olliecraig-primalpursuit  3 года назад +2

      A lot comes down to researching spots yourself. Ive had a few spots where the current moves in a different direction to the tide. DOn't get mixed up with swell and tide. I'm really no expert on the matter. Just got to get out there and learn your local spots

      Not very deep here in New Zealand! I've shot plenty of fish from the surface snorkelling. BUt in general if you can dive down to 10m you will shoot most species
