    Can you speros stopping shooting 20lbrs please. It's common practice by most fishos today to release any very large snapper caught, keeping mid size for eating. Time you guys got with the times to...

    • @AquaticRehabSpearfishing
      @AquaticRehabSpearfishing  6 месяцев назад +1

      Did you fail to watch my big explanation on how your point isn’t valid?

    • @toranarama1
      @toranarama1 6 месяцев назад

      @AquaticRehabSpearfishing It's pretty simple mate , there's a shortage of big snapper and it's good for the eco system to have plenty of them. One caught on line may not survive when put back, but one shot with spear most definitely is dead. Plus , you have the selective opinion, you can choose which fish to shoot, and you choose big fish.
      You can backward rationalize all you like to help justify , but ultimately, you shoot big snapper because you get a kick out of it , we all do , but most of us now choose not to.
      All the best.

    Interesting vid - have you got any details on the research you mentioned on snapper taken from 14m+ dying? Latest stuff I have read seems to stick with the 25-30m mark. Also, would be keen to hear more about the theory regarding older male snappers as this seems to contradict established research. It's mint we're all thinking of this stuff regardless, I'm always trying to learn more to be more careful about what I take. Last question - you mentioned less guilt about taking a male, are you typically identifying they're males before shooting?
    Anyway, new subscriber, look forward to learning more. Cheers.

      Hey bud yes the 14 meter thing has already been filmed and the whole method and people involved have sent me details however I cannot forward information until official publishing. Even though there is RUclips videos available showing a similar result on reef fish in Australia that is easy to find. I am not sure what theory with older male snapper as I mentioned to semi contradicting points to make the point that it is a complex topic. The information is being sent to me and I can forward some of the data to your email but not everything just yet. No I am not identifying males before shooting as my main priority is food however I am tired of the same response “stop killing the breeders” without any queries from these people about the sex, the other species I’ve shot, the amount I take in a year, the male role in broadcast spawning and how many males usually dump and joust when the female is releasing eggs. I have some spreadsheets and some info I can send to your email and if you don’t want to put it here in public you can DM me on luke_likes_ledges on Instagram. I appreciate the comment it’s a very complex topic and it’s far better than hearing “breeders” all the time.

    Bro does the “burley” work worldwide would you say? I’ve tried it a number of times in Thailand with no luck. Maybe I’m doing st wrong. Good vid. I like it a loooot

    • @AquaticRehabSpearfishing
      @AquaticRehabSpearfishing  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you, I’m not 100% sure. I mean fish get really hungry so yeah but it has to be the right food. And current to carry it to where fish might smell it

    • @kayb4995
      @kayb4995 6 месяцев назад

      @@AquaticRehabSpearfishing thx. Our viz is often bad lately. Maybe 3 meters. Do you even bother with kinna or burley when it gets like that? Maybe that’s it too. I find it difficult to keep track of where it even is.
