Beautiful! Artistry - at its finest! Watching your hands sewing, can only wish on my end. Practice, practice, practice. Wish I knew where to get that pattern
At the 8 minute mark, are you burnishing the leather, then rubbing in a beeswax compound - similar to Renapur? Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
Oh man I love the combination of good classical leather projects with classic music! Please tell me where can I get free classic music to use in my videos. Will be grateful for your help.
Great video to go along with the pattern! I like the method you use to cut the pattern - will definitely try that. I would like to know a bit more about your colouring. What type do you use and what is the thing you rub the surface with made of? Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)
Awesome video. What tool are you using to darken the outside edges of the leather to create the "antique" look? Not the electric tool. It looks like a disc of some sort.
@@danjordan7972 Dunno if you figured it out, but I did a quick google and found a video on how to do it. Google Gradient or Patina Leather. The Short of it is you use a Mixture of Leather Dye and Rubbing Alcohol like 1:15 and brush it around the outside. The Alcohol Evaporates quickly as to not get a build up of liquid. The Circle brush would let you minimize the amount of dye Dragged to the middle of the leather well exposing the edge to more dye over multiple passes. This is just my deduction and could be entirely wrong, i will have to try this out on my next project.
Thank you for this great video :) I never try to make such big piece of leather work but I would like to. What leather surface is needed for this work (approximaltly) ? Thank you in advance :)
Great piece of music it is in the back of my mind but I can't figure it out. Can you tell me the piece and who preformed it. I believe it to be the 9 symphony by Beethoven. The bag is stellar!
Depends on the thickness of the leather to be sewn, and how the holes are spaced. For thin leather I use 3.5 the length of the seam, for layers that add up to 5mm I use 4.5. You get a feel for it after a while, and is better to err on the longer side.
Hi, Can you tell me de diameter of the holes you punch for sewing? are the holes 1,5 mm (1/16 inch) or are they larger. I use 1 mm waxed thread, will this be oke for sewing this bag. Thanks alot for your answer, I already purchage the bag pattern but want to know the diameter before I start punching out all holes. greetings from The Netherlands.
the pattern is sized for a small bag, 11 inches long. The holes are marked for this exact size. you are more than welcome to enlarge and modify the pattern as you wish, but such info is not provided in the pattern
A JOB WELL DONE KEEP IT UP. A GOOD MUSIC AT BACK GROUND. IT'S BEAUTIFUL AND GORGEOUS .ELEGANT .IF YOU READ MY COMMENT PLEASE SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS I MAY ORDER ONE. THANKS AND GOD BLESS YOU.
that beautiful bag deserves some solid brass buckles rather than the hollow pewter fake brass buckles (made in China) you used! Other than the faux hardware, fantastic work

What do you use at 7:22 after burnishing the edges with the Dremel?
I love how you treat the leather. What do you put on before the wax? Cheers!

what are you using to burnish and finish the leather?
Great video to go along with the pattern! I like the method you use to cut the pattern - will definitely try that. I would like to know a bit more about your colouring. What type do you use and what is the thing you rub the surface with made of? Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)
it is a mix of dye and burnish, it really depends on the type of leather you use, the outcome may be very different from grain to grain
Thank you for your reply. I'll dive into the project this weekend ;0)
niteKore May I ask what burnishing agent you use?
yes you can ask :p
:0) :0) Right ;0) What burnishing agent do you use? :0D
love all your stuff bro
Great video and great music this time
Another great video, being new to leather work, I'm wondering how you get your patina finish look on your leather?
it all depends on the type of leather. you need to experiment till you get the result you want. I use a combination of dyes and burnishing.
niteKore thank you
Very impressive, thank you!
Awesome video. What tool are you using to darken the outside edges of the leather to create the "antique" look? Not the electric tool. It looks like a disc of some sort.
i love to share, but that technique is not mine to do unfortunately
niteKore no worries and thank you for the reply. Still an amazing video. Now I get to play around and try and figure that technique out!

Una pieza de arte,
Greetings from Peru! :)

Do you make bags to sell?
Hello! What means you use for processing of edges
and what for leather processing? Thanks/
After burnishing, what do you buff on it to darken the edges like that? (right before adding the wax).
Thank you for this great video :)

How big a piece of leather would you need approximately for this bag?
Sorry got that: 10 square feet. Missed that post when I first scrolled all the way down...!
how do you know how much thread to use for each piece? What do you do if you dont have enough once youve started?
Nick Bowman the thread have to be 4 times the length of the pice that you want to sew
It's easier to guess on the long side with thread. Better to have to pull a little extra thread through than splice more thread in. Thread is cheap.
Depends on the thickness of the leather to be sewn, and how the holes are spaced. For thin leather I use 3.5 the length of the seam, for layers that add up to 5mm I use 4.5. You get a feel for it after a while, and is better to err on the longer side.
Excellent!! where do you get the patterns?

2.4 mm latigo

thank you. Next time I will use Etsy to communicate with you . greetings Suzy
what thickness of leather are you using here?
6 oz latigo
What it that you used on the edges @ 6:50? And what where you doing and the tool you are using @ 7:23?
that is my secret :P
What type(veg tan/chrome?) and weight leather is the bag made from?
Sorry, i forgot to put in any info. Please follow this link for all the details you need : www.etsy.com/listing/571947874
Any information on making the bag larger? like the size of the messenger bag you have for $529? Or coming out with a larger pattern?
the pattern is sized for a small bag, 11 inches long. The holes are marked for this exact size.
you are more than welcome to enlarge and modify the pattern as you wish, but such info is not provided in the pattern
I could do that, but nothing is better than a step by step video

I like
What kind of leather are you using? Thanks!

they are solid brass, made in Italy, no idea how you came to the conclusion they are faux.
