One question: I am an active songwriter and musician on Tik Tok, Instagram, You Tube and Facebook Reels and want to use this program for songs with lyrics. Does Descript work with words that are sung instead of said? Thanks so much. Subscribed to your channel!
I looked on the website and it seems that sung lyrics are not transcribed unfortunately. Is that correct?

Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I have been making youtube videos for the last 6 months now and still pretty low on views and was looking for a way to generate leads. I see the power in shorter content to be that lead and this way of editing looks pretty straightforward!
Question: Does descript allow you to create a template that you can use for future vid clips? That way you dont have to do the dynamic text - waveform - font - font color every time you make a new clip?

If you have Descript storyboard beta you can definitely do that. If you don't what I do is create your perfect template version and duplicate it, then change the video inside the new clip by copying and pasting the new transcript into the template duplicate. Great video, just what I was looking for!
ONE other question, do you know the best way to do this with a two person interview video so they are on top of each other and not just side by side small looking.
I've heard some ways of splitting the videos somehow and then place them on top of each other that way, and I also have solo shots within all those videos since I'm using Ecamm like a TV studio switcher, Descript is pretty epic so far, my only confusion is it seems when you take out filler words or anything for that matter, it does jump cut, it doesn't just flow.
I imagine it's possible with descript! It's possible another creator has a tutorial on that! Sadly, we don't have one ourselves as we haven't tried it!

I believe Descript started transcribing Spanish earlier this year!

Stephanie!!!! You are my SHE-RO!!! I haven’t even finished watching your video, but had to stop and write this comment!
I originally wanted to only do RUclips. One year ago. Then I partnered with a makeup company that I love, as an artist. We use Instagram and Facebook, primarily, to market our product-so, RUclips kinda fell off the cliff. Creating content takes a huge amount of time! But, I still wanted to do RUclips!
I’m not a tech genius and I knew that re-using my vertical content in RUclips videos would not be good. But, something is better than nothing-so I started creating RUclips videos, I just uploaded my #13 video. AND NOW I SEE YOUR VIDEO, showing how to change the aspect ratio!!! And I have already used Descript to edit a few of my videos, and I’m a big fan!
You’re going from horizontal to vertical, but is it any more of a challenge to go from vertical to horizontal???
I really didn’t want to start filming content twice, in different aspect ratios!! You’re a Godsend!

Does changing the orientation compromise video quality? Asking specifically for makeup videos and such
We often record in 4k, so we have not seen a drop in quality! I don't think the orientation would affect the quality, though, especially going from landscape to portrait!

Hi Stephanie, Why I can't see the avail transcript for descript after uploaded the video file? Is't because it is a free subscription? There's is no attachment file to upload the screenshot to show you the issue?
Hmm I'm not sure! You should be able to see the transcript even with the free trial! Maybe close the program and reopen and try again!
Would this work for videos where there’s no talking? Like makeup videos where we only have music on?
2nd would it work if the video has a voice over, again like a makeup video with voice over instructions?

I've been using Descript thanks to this video, and I'm liking it a lot. The big downside, though, is that they limit the amount of time they'll transcribe for you. Almost feels like punishing you for using the service. Also, you made this video only 9 months ago, but the PC app interface is WAY different and I'm not finding a way to edit the waveforms or active text like you do in this video
Descript did recently have a major update, and it does look totally different!! For us, too!
I can't seem to find the "word-level animation". Is it hidden somewhere or did they remove the featurre?
Descript has had a big update since this tutorial! Now you would go to text > captions and there is an adjustment section under captions where you can adjust the animation!

This is an amazing video, thanks so much for the guidance! I do have a quick question. For some reason, when I resize and enlarge my video, it then shrinks back down to the original size as the video plays. Do you know why this is? I even tried just highlighting all the text when doing, but the size still didn't stay unchanged. Appreciate any help you can provide!
You are probably accidentally resizing one section of the video instead of selecting ALL of the frames before resizing. I do that all the time!
I am editing a long form video and have over 7 clips for my short form video but when I try to zoom in it only works for one of my clips instead of the entire video PLEASE HELP
Make sure you hold shift and select all of the clips you want to resize!
How do you get overdub to acurately clone your voice?
Can you do this if you edit on your phone ?

Hi, Javen!! I believe the answer is yes. You are able to trim the video by selecting the text that you want removed!
If anyone ever reads this: You know how with IG/FB closed captions the words appear in the video as they are spoken and then fade again? I love this and for shorts its more visually pleasing but I havent found a way to do this in descript yet. Any ideas?
