They arent critical enough in my opinion, only showing positive things like there wouldnt be any downsides.
100% agree with the knob situation, having a quality feeling piece of hardware to interact with will always feel infinitly better than just a touchscreen.
not to mention how much safer it is to be able to feel for a knob without taking your eyes off the road vs having to look down at a screen to click through three submenus to turn ur AC down three degrees
@@emery_orion true
@@emery_orioni couldnt agree more with you. I was searching for a new car here in Brazil and i think its ridiculous how i couldnt find a single model in my budget with a less tech focused interior without having to go for the absolute bare bones versions. I guess i will have to buy an used car again lol

@@emery_orion absolutely!
The rear 3/4 view of this car is absolutely stunning. Complete opposite of the last gen. Fender flares are so smoothly rounded, tri-tip exhaust stand out so nicely against the diffuser, and have a nice satin finish this time with the bigger pipe in the middle. And the rear wing is perfect. Just looks amazing from the rear and rear 3/4. I'm guessing 333 HP
The same reviews about the 2018 Accord was said about it's sound system, and it sounds good to me. These car makers don't always put much concern into a system that can be upgrade by aftermarket systems. Another thing, I'm glad they made it longer, bc i'm 6'3 and I like to be sure that tall ppl can fit in the back seat bc my son is tall also.
I miss when you guys used to upload every day. However, I definitely appreciate how insane the quality of your videos has gotten. Even if you only uploaded once a week, I'd still watch every video.
Hopefully after Hi-Low ends they can get back on schedule

all the shows slowed down bc of hi-low i think, hopefully they go back soon tho
It took me 5 years to fall in love with the FK8’s styling and right when I do they go back to a cleaner look 😭
It took me 5 years to accept its styling and when they finally go back to a cleaner look, I'm convinced that the fk8 didn't aged well.
Wait till someone makes a bodykit
@@johncarlofernandez2698 My complaint with the new one has to do with the base Civic styling. Only Type R specific complaint is the wing doesn’t match the rest of the car.
@@yung_barbone I’m all about keeping that kind of stuff OEM, especially on a Type R.
@@LOGEZZZZZBROok man, your choice
I'm absolutely in LOVE with this new model, from bumber to bumper!!! Have they said when they will be accepting pre-orders from the manufacturer yet?
Nolan, that cover on the intake is one of two things.. that little box is most likely a noise suppressor to keep the intake noise down. If it's electronically controlled it could have a baffle system that opens up wide at full throttle... OR.. it's something to chill the air after it being heated during compression.
330hp sounds about right, "A LOT!" more power to a manufacturer would definitely be like a 10% bump
Glad I get that with a junk 8th gen and a super charger
Thats not alot tho
10% hp is a pretty substantial bump in power. Going to be interesting to see the fuel efficiency numbers.
@@JayAR_YT yeah but it won’t be reliable so 10% is indeed a lot for a car like this stock
The euro one already had 320hp. So 330 wouldn't be a lot.
The Civic Type R look progressed the same way gaming laptops did. It went from flashy and plasticky to something more reserved but still shows off its ability. Just look at modern Razer laptops, they're now going for the more "mature and business-like" look and I feel like this is going a pretty similar way.
I hated the FK8 until I randomly bought one in a hungover stupor of irrational decision making, and then it turned out to be the best all around car I've ever owned and today I think they look great. It's a ridiculous car that owns it. I love when designers take chances and that car is always going to turn heads, it's a hardcore classic. This is so much less interesting to me. It looks like a better car all around, but I don't know if the character of a legend is there. Maybe I'm just older now.. all I see now is $1600 worth of tires that pick up nails and screws like bubble gum and last 10k miles if you don't drive it like you're supposed to and you get lucky with the location of all the flats you're gonna get lol. I had 8 flats in 10 months in my factory FK8 tires. I downgraded after that to be able to get to work on time. Get off my lawn!
Are you fr💀💀💀
You did not just say a FK8 looks "reserved" compared to a EK9 did you?💀
Good analysis, pretty much every industry started going after that mature look in the last 5-10 years or so, newly built housing, every day appliances, and even power tools (newer tools are pretty much all electric and lightweight with a minimalistic design). The smooth simplistic and modern style is really favorable among our generation and it takes less time and effort to put together.
Steve Jobs knew that long ago and made a simplistic phone with modern technology and that's why Apple is so successful today. the I phone was released in 2007, check out the best selling phone of 07 "Nokia 6500 classic". Worlds apart
I feel it more progressed in the same way millennials have into being a 40 year old dads that are still trying to look young. Because this looks like they stuck a wing and hood scoop onto a dad car. Definitely didn't nail that mature look as much as the Golf does, and looks a lot more boring the Elantra N and GRs.
The only "fake vent" on the FK8 is the fog light shroud. The side vents bring in air for downforce, reducing drag, and also work with the hood scoop to siphon heat out of the engine bay all through the fenders while exiting out the rear of the front fenders. The brake ducts are underneath the fog lights and actually channel air to the brakes too.
The FK8 also has the same "turbo mounted to collector integrated into the head" too, so that's also a moot point for "probably how it makes more power than any other CTR before."
I can't help but feel like this car really looks like a Dodge Charger... especially the headlights and tail lights. Maybe some Kia Stinger vibes with the taillights too.
Yep. Or more like 2007 Ford Mustang GT.
Ikrrr thats what i was gonna say
I thought the same thing. Glad it wasn't just me.
The base model in orange that they showed kind of reminds me of the last gen M2.
Yes Yes Yes. Was thinking the same. I don't also get why most of these reviewers don't like the previous generation. I liked it a lot. These new gen ones look like modern basic sedans
MORE VIDEOS LIKE THESE!!!! Felt like I was checking out a new car with the homies. Can't tell if I really like the type R, how great this review was, or both
I wanted a STi for the longest time. Huge in to the whole Evo vs STi war.
26 now and got a Genesis G70 3.3 because I matured and didn't want rally anymore. Still wanted speed, but needed practicality more.
When they showed the engine with the turbo integrated into the cylinder head, I thought of the 3S-GTE with the turbo mounted on the manifold. That was a built engine out the door. Honda modded their engine and tuned it for you, maintaining OEM HONDA reliability. Can't wait to find out what they do for the Integra Type S.
Is it going type-S or R?
That gopping "Honda" i.e Acura Integra?
@@ajourneysaved4311 for acura cars its always been type s
@@ducky1870 no it hasn't. The original type R in america was the Integra. They didn't do type-s til rsx.

I love how whenever a company releases a new car they are always like "It's the fastest one yet!"...Like yeah that would be pretty bad if it was slower than the previous model lmao, good job I guess
As history has told us, regulations lead to much slower cars sometimes. Technology is there. Epa says otherwise and ignores tire pollution as that effects big businesses rather than the consumer.
@Xtal Toyota MR2, Mitsubishi Evo X, it´s much more common then one would think. 😅
Even the new integra has the SAME HP while being heavier then the old one, be it, much more torque due to forced induction, but not what we hoped we would get..
Subaru has done this
Oh guess who is guilty of that exact thing
Honda making type r themselves
First three generations were all slower than the previous one
@Xtal M135I still overrated compared to this Civic.
Man just wacthed the whole video really loved it, keep the good work and vibe💯👌🏼
Love my 2014 si coupe in clear coat white. It’s fun to drive and has an actual engine that is big enough to pull without a turbo. I’ll be getting a type r soon but you can get a 5.0 mustang and still have a couple of G’s left for aftermarket parts.
What a beautiful piece of machinery. I love how it’s gone to a more humble appearance rather than screaming “I AM A CIVIC TYPE R” like the previous gen did. The interior is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. The simplicity is just so satisfying. 10/10 would buy.
Nah i like the old one by far more this ones is just as generic as everything else

I still like the old design just wish all those vents were real. Also really curious because the wheel base looks a lot different how much weight did they add and will that result in poor handling. Have they still got torque steer down. This is going to be awesome to compare the old to the new.
I love last gen. Best selling amongst millennials and lasted pretty long from '16-'21. I'd still take this one over a 2015 but it's definitely trying to be toned down for boomers.
@@StealthNinja4577 yeah and I guess I just don't dig that like make that the si and keep the type R focused. Chop some weight add some hrsprs and for crying out loud make it exciting the Gundam look was kind of a selling point to me. But the masses like what they like I guess.
It looks like a scion
You can easily convert the vents.
The mk4 supra has more fake vents, there for you to convert if you modify/build more power.
I dremeled by vents on my 10th gen xD
I still prefer the look of the old one. I liked that it was angular and stood out compared to the regular Civic. It's funny that they mention it looks like a gun damage head since I like the look of those robots. It's a design that I enjoy. This one is way more subtle.
In pictures it looks a bit weird but in person its actually goes really well with its angular looks lol coming from a forever fk8 owner
I agree bud!
Yah. U r definitely minority brah
"gun damage" 🗿

I liked the previous bodystyle they had (Fc1 owner), all the angles gave it the sharp look of "get too close & I'll cut you".
The volume knob for me as a music head that Installs bass systems in all my old cars is a MUST LOL
I don't like the new civic visually, however I do like how they focused on function rather than just looks on this one.
Looks like a BMW had an affair with a Corolla sedan
I don't get why the design is so unpopular, I love how it looks.
I think it’s a big improvement over the old generation regardless.
@@wherearemytesticles better than the old one for sure, I actually get some old civic vibes from that one and I am all for that
Look like mustang copy
I miss the days when Hondas were so uniquely styled. Back in the 1980s they were so distinctive. I had a Prelude S2, S3 and S4, all were brilliant. The Honda City Turbo and Turbo2 were also brilliantly quirky and fast. the 1980s CRX and Integras were also fantastic to look at, drive and own.
By comparison, this Civic type R is so "blah" in its styling. It just doesn't look that much different to all the other similarly sized modern cars. So disappointing 😞
right? when you look at it it just looks very basic. the red seats and red carpet is something I really do like, but Honda is just being too conservative with their design
The last gen one were more unique
Nahh fook that. New one is sleek
I think it actually kinda fits the bill for honda. Cars today have so many bells and whistles standard (thanks to Kia and Hyundai), and Honda is giving you all of those in a racecar disguised as a grocery getter. Hondas are legendary "blah" cars that non-fans and haters love to disregard. But with a little bit of imagination and great engineering, Hondas become a totally different animal. That's the Type R spirit. taking a boring car and pushing it to the limit. This time around it also gets the practical side of Honda we know and love as well in the non-Type R models, and shows us a new side with the premium interior design.
The previous type R was the first in a long time for the US, so it had to project itself. I feel as if it was specifically designed and targeted for the US. Similarly to how the FG2 and FK2 are most certainly designed for the Euro market.
This one has JDM vibes. It's as chill as seeing an FD2 in Hiroshima traffic on a rainy summer day. In Japan, they just blended in with the rest of the cars. Nobody made a fuss about them, and yet you could still tell they were badass just sitting in stock form.
@@ancientsociety653 this car literally has a big bolted on wing from the factory. it isn't disguised at all
that box near the turbo looks like a variable intake manifold runner.. they have them on their v6 engines.... vacuum controlled flutter valve..

I love having knobs over touch screen when it comes to HVAC controls and it seems alot of car companies don't understand this, I lole the user feed back of a knob vs touch screen that you have to dig into sub screens to get the air pointed where you want and to go from regular ac to max ac vs just putting a button for that.
Yea same and you dont need to look at and tap around ui, wich sounds more dangerous than speaking to phone while driving
Glad I got the 2019

Looks absolutely fantastic, can’t wait to own one at some point.
I loved the type R previous aggressive design. This looks like an aggressive kia optima
I prefer this understated design way more. The last few type Rs looked like people with no taste slapping fake vents everywhere. This harkens back to the older cleaner type Rs which I like way more.
I absolutely love the styling of this civic generation, and this type r is fantastic.
Simplistic with no stupid fake vents and over styling, while not being boring at all. Just nice, and clean.
@@grimsquad273 I’m completely okay with that, I think the regular civic doesn’t look bad at all either. Also, you can say the same for the EK hatch and integra, both Type R versions of those cars look extremely similar to the non-type R cars too.
Only notable visual difference between regular and Type R is special paint, wheels, seats and maybe minor bumper alterations.
Loving the new type r styling, might even be my new favourite civic generation tbh and I’m not even a Honda boy

True I think this civic looks better than the previous one.
The only I’ll miss is the hatchback option but besides that this one looks better
It's good (and logical) that they made a very different design for the people who thought that the previous one was overdesigned. For me, the black FK8 is still my dream car (though I'm happy with my red Sport Plus).

TBH I think this new one looks off. The hood has almost an overhang over the front which is weird, the rear quarter glass goes into a line which is weird, and finally this Civic *looks* big, and kinda is. It’s the size of an Accord from several years ago.

And the “last gens” are so cheap used right now. Not sure it would be worth a mark up to buy a new one.
I'm loving the new look vs the outgoing Gundam R/C car. This looks like something an adult would drive to me like he said lol
the editing in this is beautiful.
That rant about growing up, thank you Nolan. I feel you.
Not that Honda cares, but the interior and rear-half of the car are a great improvement. Personally, I prefer the front-end of the previous gen, still love the crazy look
They can't get the rear end right. The previous one was too busy, this new one is too bland and generic looking. There is nothing there that says "Honda" to me. That rear end could have a modern Kia badge on it and it would be equaly fitting.
@@mattmattmatt131313 Honda is going through a bit of a design slump. The only car they absolutely nailed is that Honda-e electric. It's not super my thing but the car is very balanced and has lots of distinctive features.
@@polymerizedrecords Oh yeah the Honda E is a great design. One area where they are really strong at the moment is interior design, both in the E and also in this new Civic.

I bought a Civic EX-L this year after the transmission in my old car fried, it was interesting seeing whats different and what stayed the same. I was expecting the interior to be stripped way down and more barebones.
The previous one kind of grew on me, but this is what I wanted it to look like. This thing is beautiful
i love the two tickling holes on the seats
I honestly prefer the exterior styling of the previous generation. However, I love the new interior, especially how minimalistic the dash is. For the power output, I think it will be around 340-355hp.
the previous generation looked childish and gaudy imo. I appreciate the restraint of the new one; seems more like a canvas for any modifications you'd want to make.
Nope.
You must be legally blind if you think that monstrosity looks better than the next gen type r. Too many fake vents and plastic everywhere.

Good luck with that.
I am a 350Z driver but appreciate quality when I see it and I know previous Type R’s are beasts on the track. So, this one makes more power than any other Type R; I wonder how it compares weight-wise to previous gens?
Love the new rear end. Honda did a nice job with the body of these
I think the people the hate on Civics and small Honda’s in general have never been in one, they are an absolute blast to drive.

Probably why a lot of the new gen cars look blank and not overly agressive unless if "the last agressive looking cars before we go electric" theory is true.
Just like they used to do!! I mean love the style regardless
That definitely makes sense. Honda clearly knows their market and who's going to buy this car.
The latest gens civics are just a smaller version of the Accord, which has a very "executive" feel to it. Curious to see what the power figure will be. My guess would be ~315HP, as it's probably already being pushed a lot to achieve the 305 it made previously and Honda doesn't want to sacrifice reliability.
I can't wait to get mine bruh! I'm so excited .
Man this car is beautiful, I love the old one too. Honda is killing it. From my first 90’s beater to now
I’m really digging the more mature look of the Civic Type R; I think this one will age better as a result. Both are sick cars though.
Imagine being a dad having a 17year old kid and he like cars giving him the 2017 and buying the new one will be very funny the mature and fast and the childish and fun
Idk If I would call it mature
@@jonaschebly33 i know someone from my highschool who bought the last gen type r. I wonder if he'll trade it in
@@marioelburro1492 the type R is holding value so well that, if interested in the new one and you can get it without a crazy dealer markup, trading the previous gen R would be a no-brainer. I do not have a previous gen... I have a 2011 Civic LX. Lol
I'm very interested in getting a GR86 though, and outfitting it with a supercharger after the factory warranty expires. By then, I will have done other, smaller things to it and prepped it for forced induction.
bet the sound system sounds great playing the Deftones Nolan!
that white on white number plate is dope af
love you nolan keep it up and never change the reloading sound when you adjust your glasses
It's the greatest!
I LOVE what they did with the 2023. The rear end matches the front so much better. Like they are meant to be together on the same car. The thing that really turned me off of the previous model was the tail lights and rear end in general. It just felt like it didnt match the front. Honda knocked the design of the 2023 out of the park 😍
I absolutely love this thing. Looks miles better than the boy racer vibe of the old one, has the manual, and I think it has 320-330 HP.
If only Subaru brought back the STI.
I mean what does the new wrx not have that an sti does besides badging and a wing? Does it not have lsd, a 6 speed, and around 300hp? I guess its about 30 short but what more could it need to be an STI?
@@Owen-zm6sq I'd expect the STI to have 320-330 HP, more than the 271 HP WRX.
Also, the new WRX has all this but is it really an actual WRX without the STI?
@@kb0x personally id pick an sti over wrx any year just for the LSD but im not a big fan of the no true scotsman stuff. For some wrx trim is just fine, and here they're combining both into the same car. Now aesthetics are probably the new WRX biggest issue.
@@Owen-zm6sq err IG they are combining both into the WRX and I can see why some people don't want the STI, but the STI was integral to Subaru's character.
Aesthetics tho... err that is a whole different story.
Finally, donut giving us real 'DONUT'content again after several months.
I just realized Donut has 6 mill subscribers!!!!!!!!!!!. I have not been online for a while but I when I subbed you had 1 mill, you guys have grown so fast and you deserve it. GG
Shoutout to Nolan, his ownership experience with the previous model really took this video to another level.
i liked the sharp edges of the old civic thats why i liked it so much but its cool too see them experament like this and see what people like and also i think its going to make about 400 HP
lol no it doesn't make 400
My Rallye Red Type R in the garage now 😎
Upgraded from a 2015 Civic Si
Definitely love this car. As you said,it is more mature but still a real sport car.
Can you makr a up to speed on the brand seat?
In a world where any car must be electric,a hybrid, a crossover, only with automatic transmission, with tons of unnecesary stuff and with the general price being more expensive I'm glad to see brands like Honda to deliver cars that maybe are not so affordable but still delivers fun
I second that
Cars are meant to vroom.
@@StealthNinja4577 Honestly I'm open to new ways of fuel but with the ongoing EV problems like charging times and battery range, the price of an hybrid, the nonsense of a crossover, the trend to install a screen to something that doesn't need it and all the concern of the actual enviromental situation (like the prohibition of selling cars based on fossil fuels) makes me to just buy an old car and modify it to make it fun while trying to save fuel. Now, I believe there's the technology to make cars more reliable with fuel economy and power like Freevalve or the hybrid engines in F1 so, why we cannot still have access to it while just the rich people can still buy cars with the best options?
@@PPablinho hey I'm with you man. If a dude wants an ev, a Harley, hydrogen car, an old hippie wagon, a German Panzer IV main battle tank... go for it more power to ya. If a dude wants to build charging stations everywhere and bought the land and paid all the taxes and fees I don't care. But no we set up these rules for the peons and they're the ones that pay for us to not follow them.
@@PPablinho honestly it's all a huge scam just gotta follow the money. The same people that tell you that the end is nigh... again are gonna make money off the alternative or want to save money on something cause they're cheapskates. Doesn't matter if you're a scientist, a politician, a ceo every human is capable of being a scumbag.
Gotta say how the Donut media crew ALWAYS manages to make better videos.
Every little detail makes it even better, thank you bois for making amazing content for yt.
question: does the exhaust actually produce proper sound? Because the 2017 version was actually quieter BECAUSE of the system they installed. Straight pipe it and it sounds great
looks absolutely fantastic
Car’s really pretty, but is enormous for what it is. I understand that modern regulations make it difficult to produce a lightweight/short wheelbase little monster but damn this thing is a whole family hauler. For a full size sedan I’d much rather a 3series but I might be biased🤷♂️
It's a fucking BOAT! It needs that rumored 380+hp just to keep up with the last model.
@@xWheatThinz but it's faster then the last model.
@@blakecatt5915 maybe from a dig in a straight line but I don't see it being faster around a track
@@xWheatThinz it literally shattered the lasts record on a track.

3:09 okay this looks cool the 2016 FK8 Type R has a MSRP of $33,000. I hope it remains affordable with zero mark ups.
Keep dreamin kid
I love how way more is just 9 more hp.
This newest incarnation of the Civic Type R is very clean and purposeful in its styling. I like it.
Just watched this live. It’s certainly not my favourite Civic but it’s so great. Can’t wait to see these things at track days and car meets and I especially can’t wait to see the wonderful builds that enthusiasts do with these beasts. Honda has outdone themselves once again. Cheers to another generation of the iconic Civic Type R!
Ah yes. The B2B we all love and miss back in 2019, its great to see you guys doing this again after a long period of time.
I want one of these, there nice cars the type r goes 170mph stock that's insane, then imagine modifying it like dang that puppy will be fast
love the tesseract part
Dude!!! The front looks a lot like a skyline r33! Its gorgeous! Thanks Honda❤️
I like the way the old Type R looked like. The new one makes it feel like a basic car
If you removed the rear wing and Type R badges, you could definitely trick someone into thinking it’s a normal Civic and have a cool sleeper
@@kitshiro2590 my thoughts exactly, unassuming exterier lets you get away with certain situations
You are blind. How can you like a toy more than a real car
By the old Type R, you mean the 2017 one? Because they've been making civic Type-Rs since the 1990s.
I did not like the 2017 model because it looked like it was trying far too hard to look fast, very much a 19 year old boys car.
@@Manusia.satu1 because all cars look do fking boring these days. I like agressive looking cars and you just don't find those anymore...
I've never driven stick before, but I do want to try.
I really like your editing 😂
The front end gives big ek9 vibes, they did an amazing job on that. The rear end gives me 3rd gen Legacy B4 vibes
