Haha I literally just bought a 2003 Sonata and was looking on how to do this and you provided a great video. Thanks alot man hopefully this will make a difference with my cars hesitant trans
No you did good because it really matters how much you put in it has to be the same exactly to the drop!!! thank you for the quick detailed video it really helped me!!!👍👍
i need to replace my box, so im assuming i have to remove the entire engine with the arragement of the ttrans being where the battery is, is yours a external filter or spin on oil filter
Drain plug is a 24metric if it's the same as my 08 kia rondo like it seems to be. Kia/ Hyundai recommends every 32,000 kms or 20,000 miles. Easy to do yourself but only Drain and fill! Don't ever machine flush. Good video.👍
@@davidsoto7114 only way to change the filter is to completely disassemble the transmission. A drain and fill 3 times is the way to get all new fluid in the system.
@@thagerdorn2009 thanks !! would you happen to know the amount that is needed to fill after draining ? The guy in the video says 4.5 jugs. Thanks - David.
@@davidsoto7114 I believe when I did it on my wife's 02 Sonata I used a gallon(4 quarts) each time. I don't remember off the top of my head to be exact. But when you drain it, only a certain amount comes out each time. I drove it about 100 miles after each drain and fill, doing it 3 times total. I used Valvoline Max Life ATF that said it was compatible with Hyundai on the back. Got it at Walmart in gallon jugs. Think I bought 3 gallons in total(12 quarts)
Did you check on the dip stick if you had the right amount in the transmission before you did the drain and if so did you check transmission when it was cold or hot. Also was check done with engine running it park?? Let viewers know. Thanks !!!
The filter in this model is un sevicable , you cant reach it , its hidden and only at ( gearbox overhaul ) you can change it , so you should keep it as clean as possible by do ATF change every 30000 miles ( about 40000km)
I have the same car with 100k miles and transmission fluid needs to be replaced. But going to the dealership to get this done because many mechanics don't want to touch it. But I am only asking for a drain and fill, no flush. I got the car at 83k miles so, I don't know the history. Drain and fill seems like the safe bet here.
Why would you take so much time to measure how kuch you drained when you can simply measure against the dipstick? My car has been overfilled by the previous owner yet I too drained 4L of oil. I can't put 4L back in else it will still be overfilled
EVERY bolt on a Hyundai is METRIC. They did NOT use SAE bolts. I own an 02 Sonata and an 06 Tiburon. There is not a single sae bolt in them. These aren't 60s muscle cars.

Why not drop the pan (it's not on the bottom but on the front) and change the filter also?
These don't have removable filters unless you disassemble the trans.
@@thagerdorn2009so I guess you can’t change the filter, only a flush correct ?

Why didn't you changed all?
Need help with this car and I can’t find many people with this car. Same model and year.
Navi Zurc Al Ed what help/info do you need?
Shouldn't you also change the filter?

HOW MUCH QTS DOES IT TAKE AFTER FLUSHING ??
Should I change the ATF on a 2007 Sonata 2.4 ? It has NEVER been changed and has done 143,000 miles. Still runs silky smooth.
Im about to do mine first time with 235k miles

Do u have too?
I notice its in the front does it spill?
The filters aren't serviceable on these
