  • This is a short video of how I replaced the steering stem bearing on a 2013 Honda Recon 250. This should be the same process on all model Recons. #ad

    All of ur videos are a great help - used several for reference on a massive rebuild of my ancient and thoroughly abused but loved 97’ trx 300 (seems way older 😁) - has like 10 million miles on it and never didn’t finish the job! 👍😎🇺🇸

    That was a great help. I got a 06 recon I gotta do this job tomorrow on. I got the new bushing also for the top. The thread all with a socket was pretty slick idea, I liked that.

    Similar procedure for rancher 420? I literally cannot find a single video about this specific to the rancher. My only concern is getting the damn thing out because I have a 4wd/front diff model. I do have a blind bearing slide hammer but I'm not sure if it will fit.. ugh.
    I dunno what the hell i'd do without your videos lol. Just know its extremely appreciated buddy

    Does standing the quad on its back rack cause any issue with engine fluids?
    Do I need to do anything in particular or just let gravity do it’s thing for a while before running the engine after the job is done?

    The snap ring is broken on mine and I do not have a way to get it out it won't come out. Can't get it to spin in the groove I even tried taking a torch to it for a while and I do not have any lubricant spray on hand

      I've been able to take a pick and catch the end of it keep tapping it with a hammer until it prys it out and then stick a screwdriver behind it as you work your way around. If you also can get a Dremel in there to cut some of it to get it to pinch together.

    My steering is only tight when I crank the bottom stem nut down. When I loosen it, the steering is fine. Could there be a different issue? Or could the nut have been to tight?

    Have you ever tried a pilot bearing puller ?Made for clutches to get them out.

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  2 года назад

      That is kind of what the blind bearing puller does. Most of the pilot bearing tools I've seen only have two fingers that go down and this blind bearing puller has three so it clamps the bearing a little more evenly

      I ended up using a pilot bearing puller on my rancher 350 steering bearing and it ended up working great. I did look into puller you were talking about but I all ready had the pilot bearing puller. Thinks for the insight .

    There is no way you just tapped that outer race out. Please explain

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  Месяц назад

      @@sooper_trooper1596 the bearing race was already broken in this case so it did slide right out. In the past they can be very tough to get out. I have taken a welder and weld around the inside of the bearing race and taken a socket and knocked it out. The heat from the welding helps to loosen it up and the weld gives the socket something to bite on to so that it can be knocked out.

    I am dying right now. I cannot get the bearing back in. I have everything flush and it is almost in and is flush with the metal but cant get it to go any further. Please help. I seen you showing a socket, rod, and bolt but i cant figure out how you did that.

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 года назад

      Are you sure it's going in square? I just used a socket to press on the outer race of the bearing and the threaded rod to pull that socket in. Tightening the nut up on the threaded rod pressedthe bearing in. It wasn't ideal but it worked
