do you mind showing the location of the bolt i just fixed my trx250ex up on my channel but the shifter shaft is vibrating out so i was looking to find something on the retaining bolt i have a single bolt missing behind the shifter on the back of the plate im sure its that but i like to see before messing with things
Great video! Ive been fighting shifter on a honda 250ex since the engines are almost identical. I think gearing maybe diffrent. Do you know if this is the sane way on them? Thanks
This is an 03 right? Cause if it is buddy you just saved my bacon. See mine has the splines broken off and it was ground down and has a socket welded to the shift lever and try as I may I can’t get the mf to stay on. I’ve tried shims, jb weld, epoxy, and nothing worked. So I’ve deduced the only way I’m gonna keep it on there without any adhesive or welding is to just swap the shaft. Fingers crossed on this one I ain’t got the skill or the know how to split the case and be able to put it back together. And the electric shift doesn’t work either the wire rusted and broke off so I can’t shift it at all and it’s stuck in reverse right now and I can’t start it or get it into neutral to be able to start it again. I was told it was an 03 but I can’t tell there’s anything on it to verify that. Any help would be very greatly appreciated you seem to really know your stuff about recons
In the video I was working on a 05 Recon.. your 03 will be the same.. Do exactly as I described in the video.. you must lay your bike on it's side and remove the 10mm retaining bolt..SLOWLY pull out the old shaft. Then slide in the new one with the dot on the end of the shaft facing up. Make sure it's in all the way then reinstall the 10mm retaining bolt.
I have a 2000, and each time I look up the shifter shaft it shows a lever made in the other end. I just don't see how this could work with it. Can you tell me if it's the same and if so maybe send me the link for the part ?
Thank you I got a welded gear shift too. Now I can fix it
You done saved me a lot of time and money brother.

Exactly the same engine as a TRX250TM Recon.. so this method will work the same
Ok thanks, appreciate the video!!! Do you need it to be in neutral or gear?
What gear do you have it in when changing out the spindle ?
I had it in Neutral but it doesn't matter if it's in gear or not
What is the part number for that
