    Pure RUclips magic. This videos saved my life. Bought a used Recon and it needed axle and swingarm bearings replaced. I accidently welded one of the swing arm bearing races to the swingarm just as you warned not to do...Thank you!!

    Dr. Great vid! You have the skills and tools! Learned some good tips from your vid! Dude CLEAN your shop. I cringe watching an overhaul with all that debris around new bearings. Not a hater brother! My shop gets out of control too. One question ❓ on swing arm bearings, if they come with new inner caps why can't you drive them out from opposing sides with a brass rod? Thanks for your vids.

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  Год назад +1

      I agree with you on the cleaning of the shop. It does get out of control from time to time and I'm often working on multiple projects at one time. I can't remember if this swing arm will allow this on the recon or not but some of them do not have a hole that passes all the way through so you can drive from the back side. I know the 450 Foreman will allow you to drive them through and if this one has a pass through all the way through then yes driving on the back side is an option. Seems like I just always weld and pull out with the blind bearing puller just because I know it will work and the heat from the welding often helps them slide out easier. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comments.

      My 2001 Recon swingarm does not have a hole all the way through to punch out the bearing. I wish it did! The welding trick worked!

    How do u work without cleaning ur parts and working on the dirty floor with all the dirt grease and grime

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 года назад +6

      I usually just tear these diffs down on the floor because they can make a pretty bad mess on my work cart. I run the cases through a parts washer and then spray out any residual with brake cleaner. I've never been much concerned over the exterior cleanliness as opposed to the interior cleanliness. And unfortunately I don't get to work on many clean ones. I just do the best I can with what I have.

    Question. All the diagrams of the recon swing arms only show 1 bearing in the axle tube where you had 2 stacked side by side. The 250ex shows a different bearing it the same location. They are the same 4 wheeler. Is this just a misprint on Honda’s part?
    Great video! Thanks!

    I know this is off topic but do you have any tricks to clean a carb with a ultrasonic cleaner, and without rebuild kit, the Lil quad won't run good without the choke on..

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  2 года назад +1

      More than likely it's the pilot jet this clogged and sometimes they can have very small holes in them so my only advice is to take it all the way apart and you may have to take a strand of wire to stick through the pilot jet to get it clean. I usually just use brake cleaner and air to blow everything out and put it back together. More than likely in your case you pilot jet will be completely closed. I just uploaded a video of cleaning a Honda four wheeler carburetor. You can check it out just to get the general how to. Your ATV carburetor may be different but they're all fairly similar on the inside

    Hey man, im working on one of these quads for my cousins. at 8:49. Does that "metal ring" the one near the brake drum have to come off? one of the axle bearings exploded and now im having to put new ones in.. Thanks!

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 года назад +1

      Yes it does. That's actually part of the bearing and it's not supposed to be separate but as on the bike I was working on and it sounds like yours is the same way all the balls fell out of the bearing and that inner race was left on the shaft. You have to remove the inner race in order to put the new bearing on.

      @@FourwheelerDoctor Hi, i hate to keep bothering you, but i have got the rubber bushing out, the one before the circlip. and prior to rebuilding it for them, i was told it was rebuilt around 4 years ago. Well, i noticed that the circlip that's in your video isn't in mine. I would only assume that the individual that rebuilt mine put the wrong clip in it. because either he or she probably misplaced the one that came with it. Is this something that might've happend, or are these style clips sometimes put in there? Thanks!

      If you don't know they are there and you press the bearing out, the clip can slide out too and get lost. There is a good chance it was never replaced.

    Question 🤔 if the collar is stuck on the swingarm bolt do I have to take it off? Is it not at the perfect position so that I could just tighten it down with the 17mm allen until it gets tight on the collar...

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 года назад

      Possibly. There could be a difference in the factory bearings and the ones you installed that could cause some slop. Give it a shot and if the swingarm doesn't have any side to side movement then you should be good.
