Thank you! I just bought a laser measure tool and this plus your fun and clear pythagorean video were extremely helpful: informative, clear, and fun to watch. I really appreciate the time you must have put into writing the script and the extra visuals which made both videos so engaging.

I am so happy you found it helpful and entertaining, and thank you for the kudos! You are correct that there are many hours put into these, but I do have a lot of fun with them. I enjoy making complicated subjects easy to engage with. Oh, and you also probably noticed that I like dinosaurs 😁

I have been using a laser meter for years now, and it is was funny to me to see that through experience I used the same tricks as you without seeing them used anywhere else. The one that I didn't know about is putting the target between my fingers. I will definitely try that this week. Thank you for the video.

You are welcome , and I'm glad to know we think the same way! I hadn't seen most of the ideas in the video either, and like you I just figured them out over the years. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

How would you go about using a laser measurer along with a laser level? I do millwork layout and often need a helper to hold the end of the measuring tape while I'm at the laser side holding the body of the tape while reading the dimension. Being able to do it on my own would be immensely helpful. Measuring with laser axis lines and benchmarks is pretty straightforward when using measuring tape, but it seems like it would be difficult to hold the bottom or top of the laser measurer to laser lines from a level, since there's nothing physical to butt the device up against... Thanks in advance!

I wonder if using a laser target like in the video would do the trick. It could be temporarily attached to the wall with removable adhesive, like double sided tape or blue tack.
You could even try making a target out of stiff cardboard or foam core. It just needs to be a right angle so it stands out from the wall at 90 degrees.
I'd love to hear if something like this solves the problem 👍

I am curious if you have found big differences between brands/ types or colors of reflective tape in visibility of the red dot outdoors in direct sunlight? I want to make a few targets for field measurements, with one guy holding a stick 150ft out from the guy with the LDM. Is one brand (name brand $$$) better than another? are tape better than white paint? is white better than red paint/tape for a red laser dot?

In my experience in direct sunlight, the tape is much easier to see than white paint or paper since it kind of amplifies the light and reflects it back. It can still be difficult to get the laser dot on the target, so I use the tricks in the video to make it easier.
I was fortunate to have the tape I linked to in the description work so well that I didn't have to experiment with other brands. I do like having the red and yellow on the same tape since varying light conditions make the red laser show better on one or the other. Another idea would be to make one side of the target all yellow and the other side red so you have a larger surface to aim at. I did not try silver reflective tape, but since the targets are so easy and inexpensive to make, you might want to make a silver target too so you are set for any lighting situation.
I would love to know what ends up working the best for you. Hope that helps, and happy measuring!
