Germans hate Red Bull for circumventing the 50+1 to market their product. In Germany clubs are owned in the majority by the fans, this makes Red Bull different to the rest of the league. Reading the comments it feels like this video is pointless. Germans want to belong to their clubs and have a say in how they’re run (50+1), fans don’t want THEIR clubs run by businesses or rich foreign owners like everywhere else in the world

Great coverage. The only thing that was missing are imo the shady transfer deals with RB Salzburg. There were even inspections by the UEFA afaik. They get at least one of the best Salzburg players every transfer period without having to pay much. E.g. an offer for Hwang by another club was declined by Salzburg and jet they sold him for less than half of the other bid to RB Leipzig.
But you have to keep the financial fair play in mind. If Leipzig would pay more they'd need to keep their income balanced. Same goes for Salzburg. If they'd get less actions on the transfer market would be more difficult in the future.
what they do is not against any rules AFAIK, any football clubs can approve/reject any transfer offers from a certain clubs as long as its not violate the player contracts
So Red bull took a club in 5th division who probably had prospect but no ambition to get higher then 4th division. They put in the money, build the structure, give more people jobs, over 7y they got into the 1st division, made their name in their own Bundesliga and in CL. Produced talents, they have young squad, young coach, they are not spending too much on the market like PSG, Man City or other clubs, they made more jobs for people, kids have one more option to go an train football, one more team to give Bayern Munich run for their money etc etc. They did more good then bad. PSG and Man City is the problem in modern football. This is for me an ownership who is doing great job. They didn't splash 250m on Neymar or spend over 1-2b on whole team like Man City. This shouldn't be an issue. I think fans are just jealous because this ownership is actually doing things how it should have been done. Actually, RB Leipzig is not the first club to sneak around the prohibition of sponsors in the name of clubs. A couple of years back, there was a club called Leichtathletik Rasensport Ahlen, LR Ahlen for short. Why LR in their name? Because of their sponsor, LR International (the letters L and R in the LR Ahlen logo even had the shape as in the LR International logo, but the club colors of LR Ahlen are different from the colors in the LR International corporate design).
They might be hated by some fans in Germany. But they have a great academy and a reasonable transfer policy. This makes them way more likable than ManCity or PSG

From an outsider’s perspective German football is difficult to get into for the simple reason it’s not entertaining seeing Bayern win the league every season. From that perspective it’s refreshing to see a team genuinely challenge that. However, it’s easy to see from this video why people hate Leipzig. No one wants to see such a blatant example of advertising and product placement being successful in sport 11 years after it’s creation as a football club. It would though be good to see German football actually be genuinely competitive without compromising the values the fans have.
See, that's the difference. We don't see football as entertainment, we see it as passion, love and family. The team I support is fighting against relegation, the other team I really liked just failed to get promoted from the 4th division. The majority of german football fans, no matter if they support Schalke, Frankfurt, Gladbach, Hamburg, Nürnberg, Dresden, Rostock or Essen doesn't give a f*ck about who will become champion. Why would they? All that's important for them is their own team. They love their team, loved it as kids, when they for the first time visited their stadium with their fathers. Their fathers stood there back in their youth, maybe the 70's or 80's, experienced some of the most legendary matches in the club's history, some european matches against giants like Liverpool or Barcelona. He passes on his love for the team to his son, just as he iherited it from the boys grandfather, who visited the games when he was young, right after World War II when they had nothing else. All they dream about is to see just another top tier match with their team. But with the years it becomes harder and harder to come back, because of these plastic clubs like Leipzig, Leverkusen, Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim, because they simply "block" spots for the other teams with big history. Surely they made it with good work, but also with way more money than the other teams have. Do you understand, why we hate Leipzig? We have a different view on football. Maybe it's not as entertaining as in other countries. But it's more passionate. And that's why we love the sports.
@@genschyy some really good points here and I love how family and community oriented the German model of football is. Your perspective on this has really interested me. I personally don't know the ins and outs of this league and I'm going to start following the Bundesliga properly this season. Was not aware that Leverkusen, Hoffenheim etc were viewed as plastic clubs by some either. Does it not genuinely bother you though seeing Bayern dominate the league year in year out with not much hope of Dortmund or even Leipzig catching them? I mean without a ball even being kicked its safe to say Bayern will probably win the Bundesliga this season although I hope they don't. It just seems to be that there's a lack of genuine competition there at the very top and it's not going to change anytime soon.
They're very much hated by everyone! What they forgot to say is, that they also took advantage of Chemie Leipzig, a traditional Club which happened to loose it's successful position and was relegated into the 4th division. In a precarious financial situation for Chemie, RB just bought several youth teams of Chemie Leipzig to be allowed to play in the professional leagues. There is also a rule that defines that a club needs to raise youth players to be able to play in the professional leagues. Another rule RB just bent for it's own purpose.
I don;t hate Leipzig Love their games, way more than M'gladbach or Wolfsburg. It was nothing about red bulldrink. they just brought money and signed young players found through thorough scouting. it was capitalism and they knew how to build a business.c. they made facilities with recovery, Strength Facilities for players, and they did it in a professional way, SO what the hell is the problem. only the envious say they hate them .
Yes their professional club business is good. But the problem for many people is their marketing strategy to present the drink Redbull. They main focus is not the football, it's because of the marketing presentation. RB Leipzig is one of the 5 clubs which are owned by Redbull and they are connected together.
The thing is I don't actually think anyone supports Leipzig, they are such a new club to fame, they literally, and I mean literally have no history. If I was a supporter of this side before the Red Bull days, I would've stopped supporting them after the takeover, it would be like supporting a completely different team.
I respect your opinion but just go to hell, is bedder bayern carrying the bundesliga than having rb salzburg vs "rasenballsport (i cant believe the dfl agreed to this)" leipzig in the champions league Dynamo dresden should be at this spot if they wouldn't suffer from bad management or right wing hooligans... Fun fact, bvb fans are right wi...forget it :D
I still don't get how Leipzig could be hated more than bayern, who treat the whole league like their academy and constantly poach all the best talent from their rivals at the last minute of transfer windows so they can't find replacements. The 50+1 rule is intended to help ensure some competitive balance, but clearly Bayern have managed to break the system.
Bayern belongs to the fans. RB Leipzig belongs to money laundering moghals. Leipzig already had a football team before Redbull Leipzig. It's called Lokomotive Leipzig. Football is all passion for Germans and not some money laundering business
Also Bayern Munich have abides by the rules. Audi, Allianz and few company together just hold only about 20% share of Bayern. The rest belongs to the fans
@@shubhamyatekar1972 Bro you literally just said that RB Leipzig belongs to money launderers and that "football is all passion for Germans and not some money laundering business". You can't say that and then flip around and say "well it's ok when Bayern does it". And yes, while I do understand the frustration with the way RB has skirted around the 50+1 rule, it is also clear that the 50+1 rule hasn't done anything to make the league competitive. Plus, on the global stage, there are WAY sketchier owners than Red Bull (any team owned by an Arab oil state).

It does represent Leipzig very well, the city is very glad and proud to have a top flight family friendly club in their city. I agree that RBL was made to sell the energy drink on the one hand, but it was also made to make football a big thing in Saxony / east Germany, since it has no club which plays international and is only known for it's right wing hooligans. Red Bull separates itself more and more to make RBL a normal club just with the Red Bull sponsoring.
Wolfsburg and Bayer were founded by the factory workers of the company they worked for. No other club in Germany is owned by a foreign company who doesn’t give a toss about the city the club is in (Leipzig was no where near first choice city for Red Bull)
As a MCFC fan, I see your point but I can't help think the "hate" is blatant hypocrisy from the dubious and corrupt establishment which includes Bayern Munich.
Last time I checked Bayern won the CL against a french club and Leipzig was in the semifinals while man city was kicked out by another french club name lyon. So we where left with ZERO premier league clubs in the seminfinals of CL even. I'd say fucked by "farmersleagues" and dare you to overthink what you are sayin. It is simple. Your English gave me a headache. German football has a rule, 50+1 and this rule is in place for a good reason. Just because pigbull invested money in Leipzig team doens't mean they own the entire team. The rule was in place to protect people's game here from corporate takeover and leave the game soulless. The club's here have a more intrinsic value, every kid here grows up watching their club play and is a very important part of their life. Football here is passion, not money laundering.
Well its the Germans who rants about their players leaving their league and moving to prem or la liga but the fact is that since they have this 50+1 voting rule of who can come here and can fund the club and who cannot makes no sense. I also belive that this rule is good for the emotions of the fans that their club belongs to them.but I believe that DFB should circumvent their rules a bit and allow big businessmen to come and invest in their club so that they can also buy great players and can give a fight to Bayern Munich for the title and can save their own players from getting poached! IMO , DFB should get a bunch of guys from.the economics to shape their rules a bit and make a rule which allows the funds pouring from.investors and along with it, the maintainance of 50+1 rule just like FC BARCELONA does!

@@KenDaKingArrives the thing is that the Bundesliga is known for its exceptional fan culture and lack of investor owned clubs. This is the one big selling point the Bundesliga has in contrary to the other European leagues. Leipzig didnt use the intended way to one of those exceptions but used pretty shady loopholes to achieve that. Thats why they are hated, they basically cheated the system and thus got an unfair advantage (it was all legal ofc but they went completely against what the system was supposed to protect). I mean they are not even really a football CLUB, as in it has like 10 members (all being Red Bull employees) and an extraordinary fee to join, so its basically impossible that any fans will ever have the chance to join and have say in this club. I respect the 50+1 rule it's what the german football fans want. But let's be honest with that rule it'll almost impossible to see any german team challenge Bayern for the title.
It's not the rule. It's the destribution of tv money
@@lordoflocks8811 if you remove the rule foregn investors will invest in the league the more they invest the more competition and stars will stay at Bundesliga. More competition = higher views = more money for everyone. It's all connected.

Okay, maybe Bayern, Dortmund and Frankfurt get investors, but the rest wouldn't it would be more fair than before. Better tv money destribution on the other hand would create more even distributed conditions without getting a playground for investors and a tool for whitewashing...
@@lordoflocks8811 in the 90's Serie a were dominating but they didn't adapt to changes like the EPL. Bundesliga don't get big tv money deals because of the lack of competition. imo Bundesliga have the best stadiums, fans in Europe with the premier league. They should follow the EPL module.
@@ah21111988 first of. We have the best fans because the fans have something to say and therefore keep it affordable. And it's not about the tv money itself, it's about the distribution of the tv money. The best ones get to much of the share, therefore are able to buy the runner ups best players. Then there is the champions league money which catalysed that process. It makes the rich clubs even richer. There is a reason why since the 90s basically the same clubs won the champions league. And it's true, you can buy competition, but there are not much oil countries/business men left, who want a white wash. And if you want a white wash you don't choose the bundesliga with its pesky fans and a mother tongue nobody else speaks...
Afaik it's related to the turnover in a specific timespan but I could be wrong there
Yh that's kind of suspicious glad My team Barca held firm unto not letting Moriba go to them for anything less than 15 milli
what they do is not against any rules AFAIK, any football clubs can approve/reject any transfer offers from a certain clubs as long as its not violate the player contracts

Even out TV money distribution like in EPL, problem solved.

They are a well run organization without any doubt and they would be a welcome competition in the Bundesliga, but they used unsportsmanlike strategies to get there and thus dont deserve to be in the Bundesliga. If they had just followed the rules like for example Hoffenheim people wouldnt hate them (although Hoffenheim also is seen very critical but for other reasons)

I would say Bayern Munich is the most hated club in Germany. But also the most loved one.
Nope. Leipzig is the most hated, by far.
@@lukelillebrorcyran8397 Hey Luke. No they are not. It´s not even close. Believe me i´m from germany i have to know it better. I searched for a statistic after i red your comment. You can see it in this article www.t-online.de/sport/fussball/bundesliga/id_84293574/studie-zur-bundesliga-das-sind-die-meistgehassten-vereine-deutschlands.html This poll was done by more than 3000 football fans in germany. This quite representive. There is a pychologial reason behind that. In Germany we have culture of jealousy. And Bayern ist by far the most successful team in Germany. But remember my first comment: They are also the most loved club here. They heavily divide german Fans. Leipzig is the 2nd most hated club. They are not liked but no one really cares about them, because they didnt win anything until now. If one day RB Leipzig surpasses Bayern Munich it will probably change.
@@charliechaine8730 I wish there was a culture of jealousy in Germany, capitalistic bullshit would be destroyed if Germans had any self respect.

RB Liepzig: most hated club because of being a walking billboard for red bull
Bayer Leverkusen being so sponsored they have a pill representing Bayer on their crest: ummm.......
It's not about sponsorship, it's about who owns the team. German teams 50+1, Pigbull Leipzig 100%. That's the difference
Bayer Leverkusen was founded in 1904 by factory workers. And like Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim they are hated too
Bayer leverkusen was not made by bayer. The workers created a club to play, they were never super rich. They are almost 150 years old

What they forget to say is, that they also took advantage of Chemie Leipzig, a traditional Club which happened to loose it's successful position and was relegated into the 4th division.
Chemie Leipzig is just 10 years older than RB Leipzig.
"Traditional Club" 😂😂
But isn't it a good thing for the Youth to get access to top equipment and training programm? What's so bad about that?
Forcing the political nature of Chemie Leipzig onto the Youth is also not the healthiest thing. It's not always easy to separate sports and politics, but RB does a way better job with it than Chemie Leipzig does.
@@Q-hv2cb Chemie was founded in 1950, just because they dissappeared for a while and had to be refounded doesn't mean they have as little tradition as RB. The opposite is the case.
In my eyes professional football training as it is done for youth is not a good thing. Young players learn to play football but hardly anything else. They are also under brutal performance pressure. That's not a good thing for character development.
Regarding the politics of Chemie: I think that the separation of football and politics is like in any other field in society - a hoax. And RB Leipzig is the best example for that: It is a capitalist club, a toy of a billionaire that - luckily - died, which should not even exist in the eyes of many. It is a highly political question.
Also I think political organization for the interests of humanity and working class is a good thing which makes Chemie even more sympathetic to me. I wish my favorite club would be that political.

@@bhaveshdhirwani3140 it is
Dortmund is more like a factory for players. And for good reasons too, you need bug money to compete, which teams like Munich have and black money like RB Leipzig. Dortmund still are a dominant force.
Football for you is entertainment. Here in Germany it's tradition and passion for the game, not some playground for capitalists to launder their money. It's a game for everyone, accessible to everyone and make them feel part of the game. Unlike rEdbull Leipzig which only cares about money and not people who support them
@@shubhamyatekar1972 football is entertainment for everyone, it’s not necessary for survival. i can’t grasp the mentality of someone who thinks they have the right to make decisions in a business that’s not their own. But i guess i can’t expect much from the country who was fooled by Hitler

Whatever it is they genuinely grow talent not like PSG . Harvetz timo upencomto kimmich etc . They invest a lot in talent not go buy all established talent . My thoughts 👍.

let's be honest RedBull Leipzig is a dumb name . like what's next? Coca Cola Heidelberg?Ok having a rich owner buying the company or financing is one thing but picking a team eating the team carcass and create a different team with their spot and a Brand name like Redbull Leipzig is stupid. specially when they flew from the 4th division to the 1st with a super budget. The worse part is that they are franchinsing the teams ! They literally created in brasil a team called "Red bull brasil" with same logo uniform etc etc! Franchize teams! wtf!?
Coca Cola Heidelberg would be a local rivel of SAP 1899 Hoppenheim
