@@LivingLegendMe I believe she meant that Brand's commentary here is SOCIALLY neutral. He's obviously a lefty, and he indicates it many times throughout the video. But his political criticisms are merely asides, as he's concentrating on Donald's character, personality, charisma and ability to genuinely connect to people who are willing to listen to him.
Brand seems socially neutral here because he's doing something we are unaccustomed to seeing.... as a leftist (or maybe a centrist, as the rules are a bit different from the perspective of a Brit who is more likely to thumb their nose at nationalism for a country which was once a colony to their empire, but I digress) he is actually giving credit where he feels it's due. And he's not even going out of his way to do it... he very plainly frames his objective perspective of Trump's social traits separately from his political policies.... we NEVER see that. Most liberal commentators weren't willing to be that objective or kind to Reagan back during his era in the white house, and it's obvious to all of us that political media had become so much more rabid since then.
So yeah.... Brand is being REFRESHINGLY fair while discussing a president and candidate whom he highly disagrees with.
      And I appreciate that.

The fact that he is willing to give Trump credit & have a discussion without acting like a seething, rabid lunatic..is a breath of fresh air. I wouldn't go so far as to say he's giving Trump credit for anything beneficial to Americans. Instead, he's pointing out the apparent lack of realization on the left that they're lost in a fog of their own making such that they cannot properly analyze their political surroundings. Brand is calling to his side to use some common sense, long abandoned by his side of the political spectrum.

@Jessica H I'm a POC and I've met racist people on both sides, but never more than on the left. They have lost their minds, trying to fight supposed systemic racism with systemic racism. People are racist, not the system. If it was I wouldn't have half the things I have. In fact no one believed in me when I was growing up because I was a disadvantaged youth who came from a poor working class family, who lost her mum, had an abusive father, was sexually abused by dirty old predatory men and as a result school was nothing more than a fun escape with friends for me, learning was the last thing on my mind. Life sucked for a long time because I was stuck in this victim mindset. And even though the things I experienced were terrible, dwelling on the trauma made me hateful which clouded my mind and my judgement. But when I let go of the victim mentality my life literally changed, I went back to school, got my degree and now I'm a home owner, the first in my family and also the first with a degree... I encountered racist white people when I was studying. I encountered more non racist white people than racist, but the racists didn't hinder my ability to achieve all that I have... because its the people who are racist, not the system.

    • @SRose-vp6ew

Not only are celebrities "typically" out of touch but so are most rich Americans. They are always thinking someone richer than them needs to be the ones fixing all the problems in the world such as helping the poor via ideas like welfare for all through socialism. Even two teachers living together in the US are still top in 1%er world wealth no matter how poor they feel as they drink their five buck coffees. Most actual millionaires are first generation and worked hard for their money and they DO help people with it and if you look at US businesses they are taxed the highest in the world, that actually needs to change to bring jobs home. Wait till all the people crying poor (due to their chosen debt caused by Target trips) find out they are the "rich" that get taxed. I don't feel poor and we make way less than the average pay of two teachers but as a Christian I feel it's part of my job to help those in need "directly" and make a real impact verse handing that fully over to seven middle man where only a dime of every dollar(hey like March of dimes) even reaches who it's intended for. People like to act like people are standing in their way from getting things done, no one is standing in any ones way and things can get done. Trump proved that. I didn't vote for him the last time and couldn't stand him until only recently but I will vote for Trump and Republicans this time as they are more proven when you dig. The media fully lies about him and others and covers up what men like Trump actually do. Kids in cages? More like 75,000 "unaccompanied" minors given the "RIGHT" (praise God!) to trial after they were wrongly muled to the US. Trump didn't ask them to come but literally watched as Democrats and celebrities literally lied to these people and the whole of the US to use them as political pawns, sick! As often as you can still talk to people and IRL. By the grace of God I have literally helped homeless people break the cycle during this time because what they needed isn't a defunding of the police in favor of another OUT OF TOUCH social worker telling them they are oppressed because of their skin or who the president is. What people need is business savvy Republicans and Christian friends who will respect them as part of the same spiritual family and human race telling how to get away from the system of oppressive dependency Democrats have set up, and history doesn't lie, and hurt them for years. Look up the cities that have followed Democrat policy for decades, high funding, high crime rates, high poverty, high ill-literacy rates OF EVEN HIGH SCHOOL "GRADUATES," and if you missed it before HIGH FUNDING and a whole lot of mispending and weird ideas on equality being lower standards. This is America, I went from losing my job to owning a successful business no one judged me by my race or gender no matter how many times those wanting to "help" me said that I would be. I woke up. People need to wake up. Type your household income into a world wealth calculator and stop believing the news when it acts like Americans with our big houses, eating out, hospitals that are nicer than some 5 star hotels and our entertained to death lifestyle are soooo poor. No the US has wel-fare for the poor and yes it is still a hard life where being poor can become a full time job but no matter how hard the middle class wants to think they are poor, they are not, they will be who gets taxed if they want a socialist country and that means they will have less and not more. Math. I have taken homeless people to appointments it's no joke that once the bread or med is "free" you wait in a long line for it. People need to stop acting like "someone else" should do something to fix issues. Fix issues and stop waiting to vote for someone who will magically make all the problems disappear. Joe was in office for nearly 48 years and he only cared about "talking" about issues. Trump, no matter how much I hate how he sounds, did SOMETHING and is getting better at the job every day. Just look at the business deal stuff he is accomplishing with TIKTOK. Trump is a business man, a show man, and a man that cares about the country and NOT the media now paints.

POLITICO interviewed almost two dozen people, including administration officials, members of Congress and outsiders who contended with the administration’s response, and they described a litany of sadly familiar obstacles: vaccine shortfalls, fights over funding and sometimes contradictory messaging.
“It is purely a fortuity that this isn’t one of the great mass casualty events in American history,” Ron Klain, who was Biden’s chief of staff at the time, said of H1N1 in 2019. “It had nothing to do with us doing anything right [if THAT were even possible with The Barry'n'Biden Show!].
"It just had to do with luck. If anyone thinks that this can’t happen again, they don’t have to go back to 1918, they just have to go back to 2009, 2010 and imagine a virus with a different lethality, and you can just do the math on that.”

@@Bibleease First of all, this has nothing to do with Democrats or Media. This is about Trump. Trump is one person. His actions are not decent. He is not a decent person. He is responsible for 210,000 deaths and climbing due to his negligence and lack of human compassion for anyone or anything. For once in his pathetic life, he is finally going to pay for his indifference.
The truth is, Mr. Brand has no idea what he is talking about because he has no clue how the "system" operates. The entire "Mainstream" Media is owned by 3 people. They tell their stations what stories to run and which to hide. This plays into the US Government's system which is an economic farm. The Two-Party system should be renamed to The Growers and the The Reapers. A Democrat is charged with growing the economy. The Republican is charged with reaping the economy for the benefit of the rich. A Democrat always wins when the economy is down/crashing or in recession. A Republican always wins when the economy is up and doing well. Do you honestly think "we the people" flip back and forth from Democrat to Republican on an 8 year average by choice? That some how people magically flip from being overly Liberal to overly Conservative on a cycle? Yeah, no. It's a system. The Democrats take seed money from the rich via taxation. The Republicans reap the economy by shifting the tax burden to the middle class and the poor. The tax credits are laundered through the stock market. Why do you think the only actual legislation, passed by Congress and signed by Trump in 4 years was the Tax law he touts. Why do you think Biden stated that the first thing he will do as president is reverse the Tax law?
Look, both Trump and Biden have given the game away. Trump more so than Biden. Trump keeps saying that the election is rigged. IT is. It is ALWAYS rigged. Biden gave it away at the debate when Trump asked him why he didn't do anything for 47 years and Biden let it out, "Because you weren't here screwing things up!" Biden was forced out of retirement to fix the economy.
This system has been in place since 1865 and it isn't even well hidden. If you lay out the state of the economy from 1865 to present day, then overlay that with who was elected president, you will find the pattern. Then when you start researching the key legislation that gets passed, it becomes very obvious. The economy is EVERYTHING and EVERYTHING is the economy. They care about nothing else. Not you, not me, not your family. UNLESS, our lives somehow impact the economy. Trump knows the game. The only reason he isn't being re-elected is because the economy crashed. His continued threats of cheating will be met with deaf ears. His cheats will be rigged to fail. The votes as cast will be successful in this election. The election is generally rigged when a Republican is required to reap and they do it the same way every time. Question the votes in certain states, and stop the recount when the Republican is ahead. Now, why don't they do this in every election? After all, Obama won TWICE without scandal, despite being the most hated Democrat in Republican history and despite Mitch McConnell saying that he would be a one-term president.
This is also why no 3rd party will ever win. They are used to shift the people where the system needs them to go. That is why you can have Bernie Sanders harshly criticizing Democrats during the nomination period and then suddenly sing their praises after the nominee is selected.
Legislation is drama and theater. Just like the Democrat/Liberal vs Republican/Conservative bull shit. It's all theater designed to keep you occupied and to steer you in the direction "they" want you to go in order to satisfy the economy. Racism is fine, because it doesn't impact the economy. Isolated violence is fine, it doesn't impact the economy. Sustained protests are NOT fine because it does impact the economy. The Pandemic is NOT fine because it killed the economy. Therefore, Trump will be replaced with Biden and Biden will perform his charged duty of switching the tax burden back to the rich. People will go out and spend ALL that money. Stocks will rise, etc. He also has to beat the pandemic to do it. He will do it in ways that will piss off Conservatives, but oh well. It is what it is, right?
Once you understand how the government really works, you start to stop giving a fuck about politics. You start to realize how you have been used for years. You see the whole Libs vs Cons thing as a total brainwashed mind job.
Live your life the way YOU want. Screw everything else. No one's team is going to win in the long run. It's a 16 year cycle with 8 years for your team and 8 years for the other team (on average. It depends on the economy.)
IN this election, I am ok with the Dems taking over. They will bring with them all the scientific experts, the Pandemic Response team, and a full White House administration staff. We will let the CDC do its job and we will re-establish our relationship with W.H.O. and we will finally be put on a path for getting over this virus with the least number of deaths than the "Herd immunity" path Turmp has us on.

Actually not really, there was an ICE official that made a memo saying that the USA should use family separation under the Obama administration, but the administration rejected that idea. Then the Trump administration took that memo, did family separation and spun this narrative that it was some how Obama.
When we had that surge of immigrants in 2014, a good portion of them were unaccompanied children, which overwhelmed our boarders. Why did it overwhelm our boarders? Because rather than just let them into our country, we have a bunch of Republican nationalist that don't want immigrants at all, plus they are children and we would need to find them housing. Housing cost money, the house and the Senate control spending, this is part of the balance of power within our branches of government.

Redistributing wealth by heavy taxation and public welfare is one way. But, those who get on the government dole never make it above the poverty line, plus, they rarely become productive members of society or taxpaying members themselves. Heavily taxed, hard-workers resent this type of policy.
Trump, believed the best way to get wealth to people was to get all the jobs that had gone overseas to China and south to Mexico, back in America. This enabled millions more Americans to rise above poverty and become contributing members to the tax base. Take the name Trump out of the picture, and most would agree that, on its face, this second policy is much better in every way.

His approach to the virus has been...anti-pragmatic, I would say. Which probably has a lot to do with where we are at.
I think his deficit spending is a long-term harm. And his quantitative easing anti-free markets.
The oil industry kind of fucked itself. But he had a hand in that, as did Putin.
He's generally divisive, but then again so is the extreme left. So he's no better than the extreme left in that regard.
He's more political than pragmatic generally, so there are a lot of decisions he's made that are unprincipled and harmful, but his supporters tend to play the blame game...say it was somebody else's fault or somebody else is worse, or no guarantee things would be worse if he didn't do what he did.
His China policy is extremely costly, and also, at least short term, devastating to many of our markets. But he just feeds the farmers money. Talk about big government handouts. Sheesh. Again...anti-free market.
His Nafta re-write, while it helped auto workers, seems to be helping those in Mexico mostly, keeping factories there and improving their wages not so much ours. Which is I suppose just moving chips around.
I also, on the level of principles and morality, find him extremely lacking. I should say...just about totally. I think that's a big cost for conservative causes going forward.
Generally speaking, I peg him as a short-term planner, unprincipled opportunist. It's hard to argue about the economy, but let's not be hypocrites. It was doing well before he borrowed money for his tax cuts. I don't agree that that was a good move. I think he's just buying votes. Corporate tax rates pay for things, and eliminating them mostly went to stock buybacks, only to have those same corporations put out their hand over the last 6 months and get paid with borrowed money! through this quantitative easing, anti-free market scam.

Hot take: it’s not right vs. left or Republican vs. Democrats.
      It’s establishment vs. antiestablishment.
Trump turned the GOP on its head, smacked its ass, put them in their place, and turned his attention on the country. The Democrats did him the favor of imploding on their own. I don’t know if you noticed it, but the Democratic party is firmly held by the establishment; the swamp.
Bernie got sidelined despite bringing more energy (I wouldn’t have voted for him), than Hillary. Now this time around, Harris was the Democratic candidate until Ms. Gabbard sank her on Day 1. But wait!!! Establishment swoops in with a doped up puppet with JUST enough brain cells to tap Harris for VP. The establishment really just wanted Harris. They really wanted a woman that would play ball. Ms. Gabbard has too much honor to play ball, but Harris doesn’t.
Why? For the same reason they wanted a no name little experienced black candidate.
Anybody that disagrees with Obama over ideological differences is a “racist.”
Anybody that disagrees with Harris over ideological differences is a “sexist.”
The establishment doesn’t care who is in office. The laws they want will get passed regardless of who is in office. But if they can paint the opposition as prejudiced assholes...well, the more distracted the country will be.
A society to outraged to pay attention is a society that won’t notice their rights and freedoms getting whittled away. The more it fights with itself over which overlord is in power, the more power the elite will grab.
So, pay attention to who the establishment nominees are, not whether they have a D or R in front of their name.
