- I won this trailer on an auction site for super cheap. I've rebuilt it, and added a TON of upgrades (SOLAR) and modifications, BUT, did I actually save money or should I have purchased a new one instead? Got injured in an accident? I did Healthcare work for Morgan and Morgan and I've been trying to get paid for over a year. They did make on offer to pay a bit ago and now I haven't heard from them again. Hopefully they treat their clients better.
I think that you did a fantastic job restoring that trailer. My one recommendation would be the change the bulbs in those round ceiling lights to a different temperature LED that is more white and less blue. That will help greatly and bulbs shouldn't cost that much to change. Keep up the great work Matt! Inspiring!
Planning on that!
Generator hookup and 120VAC receptacles. TV. 5G hotspot. Fridge. If you ever do a track weekend, these will all be helpful.
Make sure you check on the underside of the trailer as well.. maybe new bearings or at least check and regrease at a minimum
Agree
1000% because it's not a problem until you are 200 miles away and lose and axle or a bearing in the middle of freaking nowhere!!!
Nice to see the truck wheels in the trash pile @21:25 . 😁
Lmao
Haha savage
Boooooo!!!
I was gonna comment asking why they were off, I’m a fan of them 😅
You should add some floor lighting on the bottom sides on a switch as well so you got under lighting for when your lashing now a car
Mods - winch inside for pulling cars in, 12v sockets front and back inside for battery tenders/chargers and such, more exterior lighting for night loading, thoroughly checking all running lights.
Next time I'd rent a Home Depot sprayer to paint the inside, would have replaced all wiring inside, for doing the wheel wells you brushed the paint small rollers would have been cheap and much quicker, never ever use that garbage masking always 3M blue painters tape also only use 3M electrical tape never the off-brand trash, as said earlier take a close look at your wheel bearings and underside to make sure things are good, check the brakes and tires as they likely need replacing, lots of side tie-downs for things like straps and/or cargo netting to be used or stored.
I used to do wiring work on trailers similar to this and we often installed a light in the door foot well and trigger it's operation via a cheep door pin switch for alarms, this also allows you to add a car alarm to the trailer and include the rear door. this light really helps at night and also a great way to tell if you closed door right at night.
Trailer looks great! I HIGHLY recommend one if not two easily accessible spare tires for the trailer! That a quick ramp where you can drive one trailer tire up on the ramp while you change the flat on the other.
Glad to see more of that painters tape being used! 🤣 Gotta give it to ya. Dedicated to getting that 3 bucks worth.
Always remember, it is YOUR trailer. You are allowed to do to it what you will since you are the one paying for it. Cept those rims on your truck, keep the stock ones lol
Spare tire, maybe more solar panels to have some power tools in there.
Also a fridge.
And maybe a fan if you need to sweat in a hot area while fixing your fuel lines and stuff.
One suggestion to protect the floor further is to buy a roll of grip tape like for skateboards snd run w strrips up the ramps and all the way to the front of the trailer i did this to mine it adds grip and keeps the paint from getting tore up
I can’t believe I enjoyed watched a video series about a freaking trailer so much.
caulk goes under the brackets in the screw holes its going to leak unless you put it in the holes before you screwed in.
You're right. Good point
The trailer looks really great. I know its not much of a mod, but don't forget to get a spare tire for the trailer.
Poor Donald..! Get that man some garage beverages, so he can get to whistling while he works instead of worrying about his knees! Haha..good to have friends like him.
All you need is a camera on the rear so when you're traveling you can just monitor whatever is behind you I will also put some on the side but that's my preference
Get you a roll of grip tape and place strips on the ramp so your tires have more grip when it’s wet or icy outside. Made a difference when loading and unloading cars plus felt safer.
I have a 10x10 pop up tent, the type you see at street fairs and outdoor markets, for when I have to work on things outside the garage, but the weather isn't cooperating.
If you want the fuse box to be more up to code, it should be enclosed in a cabinet or a steel box of some kind
I'd add 2 coats of clear coat to the floor. It'll provide a nice seal that doesn't come up when driving on in, plus it will last 10 years or longer without worrying about moisture and temperature fluctuations ruining your hard work from those 2 base coats. Trust me, I've been doing epoxy for years, and the clear coat is what makes it last. The trailer is looking great. Nice work.
Thanks! What kind of clear coat?
@@matt13rossI just used rustolium garage floor epoxy clear coat on my lawn care trailer and it’s held up to all the abuse so far. You can get it a Home Depot and possibly Lowe’s
Looks good. I would have suggested using foam insulation style boards glued to the inside of the roof and the ceiling. This would help with heat and strength the roof.
Great job bro! That’s an $8K-$10K trailer all day long!!!
I agree 100 % with putting cabinets up front with a small bench top! That's pretty much wasted space anyways due to the shape. You might also consider putting an electric winch inside at the front for retrieving dead vehicles.
Amazing job on your trailer! The attention to detail is well done. Great idea on the solar panel to keep the battery charged. Just a thought take an old small cabinet door and build a thin frame around the control panel and wires that will give it a nice clean look, if you don't install any cabinets in that area. Great job and Thanks for sharing!
Man it looks great and is a steal for what you paid glad you had the mindset to fix it vs buy from someone who would charge you twice the price
This came out 🔥, can’t wait to see the next part
I love it. Makes me want to replace my open deck trailer.
A couple of suggestions. First, I'd do one more coat of floor paint, but would add floor grit to it. Would help with traction on the ramp when loading, and would keep it from getting slippery in the wet. Home Depot carries the grit in the paint aisle. Second, I'd add an awning or canopy on the side with the door. A full length RV awning would probably be the most cost effective. Third, I would have gone with a couple of solar panels, and then a larger RV-style dual battery setup. Four, I'd add a bunch of power receptacles, because I'd want to be plugging things in.
Definitely agree with adding the cabinets/workshop in the front. And would make sure a small mini-fridge went in there as well. In fact, that front area would almost be built up like an RV.
Look great, looking at Copart trailers myself.
Narration & editing getting sharp & entertaining 👍👍👍 great space to go collect the next project (gt3). $850 costs from copart on a $800 trailer is disgraceful they should be ashamed..!
Great content as always thank you 👍👍🙏🇬🇧 looks great
Hey Matt, I know I may sound picky, but you should include your fuel costs of going to pick that bad boy up and bring it home. If you had purchased a used it new unit it likely would have been closer to home. Great work, btw.
Sorry I did see a coat for fuel. I guess I'm accustomed to canadian pricing but I never thought you'd be able to make that round trip under 200 bucks. Nice!
It's great job ! loved watching this too ! The solar upgrade never thought of that .keep it up bro ...
u should do like rock lights or led strips underneath the trailer to light it up i’ve seen it done to a few and it looks pretty sick
Good job bro. I would change the wheel bearings for sure too
Look up Midwest racing cabinets. They have a in-floor winch Mount that is very slick
I don’t remember the purpose of buying the trailer. I think the remaining finishing touches will be upon the primary reason and why you’ll be using the trailer. It looks outstanding!
This trailer is amazing! Crazy price and really it is going to meet your needs so much better than one off the street! Really nice Matt!
I like this videos format, the labels ect . Great job
Renogy brand is great bang for buck
I think you did great job I'm thinking of doing the same also, but change your tape to painter tape and it will peel off easier
You MIGHT get lucky and get a decent trailer for what it cost you to do this, BUT as you said, I doubt you would find one for that price as nice and with all the bells and whistles that you put into this one. You should be proud!
Looks great. Light switch upgrades
Only thing I’d suggest is putting some white sheathing/cable protectors over the black solar panel wiring to make it look more seamless.
Taylor Ray redid one of his trailers and ordered cabinets from a company online and he seemed pretty stoked on them. Nice job so far. 89k super close to the 100k.
I highly recommend a GPS tracker that can be discreetly installed in the event someone tries to steal the trailer.
Looks great. How about a repack of the wheel bearings and brake life check on that beauty?
Came out nice! Good to see the fuses added and that it worked lol. Also loved the bird poop skit lol!
Nice work. The finished product looks great.
21:08 That’s what she said!
Trailer looks amazing! Needs some large Porsche and BMW decals on the inside walls to spruce it up!
Great video, Matt. I’m happy to pitch in for the Lucas beer fund for cabinet building.
Congrats! The trailler is great!
Great vid, can't wait for the part 2 upgrades
REAL NICE MAT. TROW AN AWNING ON D SIDE DAT HAS DOOR .SMALL GAS STOVE AN TRAILER REFRIGERATOR REFRIGERATOR A COUPLE MORE SOLAR AN A SMALL TOILET AN U ARE SET 2 TAKE YOUR CARS TO WEEKEND WEEKEND CAR SHOW AN RACE TRACKS ALL OVER😊😊😊
I was happy to see those old truck wheels on the garbage pile. For the trailer you need one of those 6 ft. tall PORSCHE logos on all sides so they know which one to steal...🙂
Wire management is on point! Lol comment worthy
First look, this price, good job!
Believe It was a vulture, not a hawk but awesome rebuild series. Like the real world relatable stuff
Great job! New trailers are hyper expensive, and used in good shape? Yeah, hard to find and they know what they have. Now, you have to resist storing stuff in the trailer! Just have to remove it all to use it, so not good. Invest in good ball lock too, for when storing and towing. There are naughty folks out there hoping to get good stuff from nice trailers!
Need to do a caulk job between the panels and between where the two different color paint meet. Makes a hard line instead of jagged paint line.
I think you're right, but I'm not great at caulking....
Great job coming from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 👏
Congratulations. The trailer looks awesome!🎉
I'd put hazard chevrons on the wheel boxes
My recommendation is the tiedown points is to take them off and either get new ones or get spray on bedliner black in a can you can get off of Amazon. Those would look real nice and long lasting.
Nice good... Matt
Looks amazing, definitely a 10k trailer.
G'day, Trailer came up looking Great, well done👍
Good Job Matt!
Nice job Matt !!!
Looks really nice! Well done.
Looks great!
Looks nicer than some peoples homes 😅 especially those putting you down 🥴
Nice job....Matt
looks good man keep at it!
Great job. Trailer looks awesome.
Looks great!
You did a very nice Job Matt!! 💪🏻
Way to go Matt, trailer is looking good buddy!
Looks awesome! Nice work. Maybe add a winch for pulling in those future projects.
That's the plan!
Hi is am watching from Chile I lover your channel , you should wrap with vinyl with your info social media page etc and you favorite projects cheers
Getting close to 100K! Nice!!!
Great job, well done!
Trailer looks amazing! Do you plan on tracking any of your cars? The cabinets in the trailer will come in handy for all the equipment you may need on a track day.
Looks great
Matt is the more fit and muscular version of Evan shanks they look so alike lol
Sick job Matt! Now help me put coil overs on my s5 😂
22:40 Childish jokes are the best😂😂😂
Great job
Great vid and series.
That battery you added is not able to handle high wattage draw. Just a heads-up. Ask me how I know 😅
Nice job
My friend the" hulks" that were in the floor,to tiy down a car or a motorcycle.
6:29 lmao I hate when that happens
22:38 a bird money shot...🤯
Lolol
That wiring… Bruh…
Also, the mounts for that solar panel are going to leak pretty quickly since you didn’t bed them at all or overcoat them with lap sealant.
Don’t forget me when you hit 100k matty ol boy
How have you not got a crocs sponsorship by now!! 😂
Hahaha that would be great!
Over the years I've wasted sooo much money on masking tape. Now I only buy two types. Blue 1" painters tape, or green automotive 2" masking tape. Both about double the price of the so called "universal" type, but saves 80% of wasted clean up time. And lets face it guys. Time is the ONLY currency you can never replenish, regain or get more of. We only have an allotted span on this spinning rock. 😉
Great job!
Thanks!
I have that exact panel I have two! Always great out put very reliable
Glad to hear that!
