I picked up an ‘88 CR250 this past year and it absolutely rips! It had similar play in the rear end. It was in fact the upper shock bearing. All fixed now along with cleaning and adjusting the power valve. Also, in the process of restoring an ‘86 CR125. Love these steel frame Honda’s!
I had a 01 cr250 that had the same issue! Upper shock bearing is usually the first to go… But, my old 01 cr250 bearings were so gone the bike sagged almost an inch. I’m not kidding when I say this, but when I replaced the bearings and sat on that bike, it was mind blowing how bad it was. I simply didn’t know what was considered ‘bad’ I guess lol and I do too! Steel framed Hondas are powerhouses that turn on a dime!! My 97 cr125 is my favorite to whip around a track for sure. You should film your resto project! I’d love to see it!
Yeah and changing bearings can be real fun LOL! Not my favorite. I thought about filming the resto but I work in my garage to get away from screens! I'm too far along at this point now anyway. @@jimmy_dirtbike
@@djantix1200 I feel ya bro… I wasn’t going to film this build at all because it makes the build go so much slower. You start and stop and start and stop then edit the video… takes a lot of time. I tried to do a resto video on my 1997 CR80 a few months back and just lost all motivation. The first few videos from that bike are on my channel. That bikes now done. Peer pressure got me doing this series now. You can thank Mitch Allard I guess 😂
Negative. Up and down play is likely shock and/or linkage bearings. Side to side play would likely be swingarm bearings. A couple millimeters isn’t going to hurt anything, but I’d start thinking about replacing the shock bearings at the very least. Thanks for watching my video!

Bushing time..aren't you supposed have a little up and down play in the swing arm?

@@jimmy_dirtbike thanks.
not the biggest fan of vertical video, but at least the content is great. Keep it up, you will find an audience.
Yeah… first couple of videos were a struggle to remember that. I film on a GoPro now though so hopefully that doesn’t happen again!!
you have way too many bikes!!!!!!!
I need more! :) My supermoto is hopefully going to be sold sooner than later
No such thing😂
