Glad you’re doing so well. Love your attitude. I recently hiked Mt. Baden Powell and saw about 50 PCTrs. They were all awesome. But you’re right about the young hikers. The older ones were holding their own, though. Love your videos.
Thank you Susan! Maybe I was one of the 50 you saw 🤔. There were so many day and pct hikers when I went up on a Saturday. It was so fun though, we all struggled together on that last bit in the snow and encouraged one another. It felt like a team building day 😄
Hi Zdenka I’m watching Tracy from Calgary too! I just watched the next episode and it is even better! The decisions she is making shows she has what it takes to be a successful through hiker! Her trail name should be trail wise !
I find you are capturing so much of the tread that I intensely remember from 2008. So much so that at 3:40, I said to myself, this is where (a month later than you), I crossed my first patch of snow. Hah, not long after that, you saw snow! Later on that road/trail before Coon Creek camp, it was a wet slog thru mushy snow. You speak truth about trying to keep up with the young knee bunch. Cheers, GK
Awww thank you so much condor!! Lovely video 🥰 sad to see that my "youtube adventure" is now over. It was great to watch our hike back and to reflect on the good and bad times. It was a tough decision to leave and I am sad I had to go, luckily no regrets so far. Can't wait to see what the rest of your hike was like! 😚😁
It's fun to go through all the footage and relive all that we went through in such a short period of time. Seems so long ago now, haha. I learn a lot about myself watching these videos... the good and the bad. I'm so happy to have these vlogs to look back on later. I hope to hear about your adventures in CR. Stay safe and have a great time 🥰💕🙏🤗
Thank you for the reminder to go at your own pace! I wound up hurting my knee trying to keep up with a woman 20 years younger than me, hiking section J in Washington.
I know better and I still have to keep reminding myself. Even when i know I am getting stronger and want to test myself...I get quickly humbled on the steep climbs! 🤗🙏💕
Amazing video, I always feel like I’m right there with you, it’s great for those of us who live vicariously through the adventures of others. Music is great, noticed you switched it up a little but still compatible with the trail. Accommodations are lovely, does a body good to rest in a pleasant atmosphere. Eat well, rest well and onward to the next stage. May the force be with you. 🥰🙏🏻
Thank you Anita! Yah, just adding a little mix to the Native Am music but still want to keep mostly with NA themed. I also love Celtic but harder to find clips that fit the scenery/mood. Love and hugs 🤗 🥰🙏
Dr Dirt would have been fun to hike with. I study soil biology as somewhat of a hobby because I'm a retired landscape contractor. I hiked with a married couple that are geology professors for a while. I hiked that section up to Mission Spring Camp a few times and this year I swore I would never do it again until it gets some serious trail maintenance LOL. From there to Big Bear is nice. I think that's why my knee is bothering me. I was keeping up with the "kids" doing 25 mile days. I need to slow down and do no more than 20's unless water sources dictate otherwise. Some cool tunes in this one. That one at the end reminded me of Jethro Tull. kept waiting for his voice . . . LOL
That was really good advice about going at your own pace. I understand the feeling of having to keep up with a group. I’m sure it goes back to our ancient history of survival being dependent on staying together. But it can be so much nicer to stroll and truly soak in all the big and little things you see on trail. And yes, it is amazing how quickly the terrain and environment changes. 👍
Yay, reaching the 250 mile marker. Even though you've been feeling real tired this section you have made great time. Try to add more veggies some good ones that have lots of nutrition are; sweet potatoes, spinach and berries. Our bodies need vitamins and minerals to help recuperate. Yes hike your own hike. People will come and go. You have said that you're not alone in trail. Your videos are absolutely amazing. They are so interesting. I love how you see nature. Be well and take care of you. Keep trekking. 😀
Cold soaking is great, especially when it’s not cold outside. I think most enjoy the stove in the sierras and up in WA for those blistering cold mornings. I make my cold soaked oats with fruit snd nuts snd seeds snd I add a little Judees powdered cream to it. It’s real cream snd it gives a marvelous flavor snd texture and good fat energy. I get it from Amazon. Can’t comment on the flavor of other powdered cream but that brand is marvelous. It’s great in other food. Cold soaked Israeli couscous is great. Pine nuts snd dehydrated veggies and the cream with a little seasoning. I love dehydrated onion and garlic snd a mix of Lebanese spice called zataar, thyme, oregano and sesame seeds. Enjoy big bear. It looks amazing. I love big bear. Great little town. You will love wrightwood too
Thanks for the cold soak ideas. I'll have to try the cream when I can find it. I add olive oil to pretty much all my meals but would like to change it up. I cold soaked my last 2 big hikes and enjoyed it back then too so feel confident in ditching the stove for now. I plan to add it back when it gets colder for safety and comfort. Thanks for following along ☺️💕
Thanks for the ‘Judees’ powdered cream idea. Will have to find it to try. I’ve never done cold soaking, but your list of ingredients make it sound delicious. 😋
It is hard to let fun people go ahead. Matching your own needs/temperament to other peoples doesn’t always work so choosing yourself can be hard. I hope by now you’ve found a new and comfortable group to travel with.
Thank you! Mostly younger hikers around me so it can be challenging finding hikers that pace closer to me. I've met some more great people to hike around though. 😊
Really enjoyed this episode Tracy I think you’re doing fantastic and you’re really being so Trail wise about going at your own pace and not pushing yourself it must be so hard though because you get a group you really enjoy and then you’ve got a sort of break off and do your own thing but well done so far . You’re really figuring out your own way of doing things too by getting rid of the stove why not if you don’t need it spare yourself the weight and just save it for maybe those spots or you know the weather‘s gonna be bad you’re gonna need it very clever. looking forward to seeing how far you can go
Neat video Condor....it is hard leaving a hiking partner when youve grown to enjoy their company and pace....there will be others as you know...as you press on....hope you find new tramily along the way....if not for a while then you will just press on....hope you are enjoying your wonderful food and accommodations at big bear....relax and enjoy.....the mountains are calling and you must go.....keep on keepin on Condor.....!!!!
Yay, Tracy, you were doing some nice miles with minimal aches and pains, that's got to be a relief. Sad that you lost Dr. Dirt, but that's there flow of the trail, you never know when you may connect again. Nice digs in Big Bear 👍
Is it rude if I ask your age? I'm an older hiker as in not in my 20s, 30s, 40s. Lol. I love watching hikers that aren't young ones with boundless energy from just breathing. Yep I'm envious of their youth. I'm competitive too but your 100% right, you have to listen to your body . No point if you don't stop and enjoy your surroundings.
I'm 51. There were still a lot of older hikers that hiked longer and faster than me. I am only 5'0" so my legs are short too. My stride is naturally shorter than most.
@@TikiBirdTracy im 6 foot and im a fast walker but with a pack on, not so much. I watch Darwin and try to walk fast like he does and end up just laughing at myself. Keep telling myself, its not a race.
I'm actually very fast without a pack from my years as a manager walking around a large zoo. Took forever to get anywhere I was called to, haha. But yes, with the pack on it all changes drastically lol.
Oh, I was wondering how Dr.Dirt got her name. Impressive credentials. 👍. Her area of expertise is so needed in today’s world. Sorry to see her leave the trail. But the area you are going through is so beautiful!

Greetings from Calgary 🇨🇦. I love to follow your journey. You are great!
Thank you for watching and supporting my journey 🤗💕

Tracy, you are doing great. Hike at your own pace. Hike On.
Thank you! 🙏💕
Glad your gonna get some much needed rest. Enjoy the nice room. Cant wait to see what other friends you make on the trail.
Thank you Eva! 🙏💕

Yeah, that did sound a little bit like Jethro Tull, now that you mention it …
I do love Jethto Tull. Now i have "Thick As a Brick" in my head 🤣
Thank you so much for sharing! May I ask where you find your wonderful background music?
Thank you! Just copyright free songs on RUclips. Easy to find.... harder to choose 😁
Nice room. Love the idea of the spa. Lovely
Yes,it’s not really how far you go, but how well you travel. EnJoy.
Thank you! 🙏💕
Great to see a new video. I picked up hikers this year on the way to Big Bear. I wish I could have picked you up. I live near Silverwood Lake.
That would have been awesome. I've been winging it. Lyft gets pretty expensive. 😊💕

Thanks Gayle! Yes, fresh foods are always best. I slacked off eating more of those and have since gotten better about that! 🤗💕🙏🥰
Good call on the extra Zero's! Enjoy your much needed/deserved recovery. BTW, love the jetted tub.
Me too 🤣💕
It made a nice laundry machine too, lol.
