    You worked so hard to get to the physically able point of knowing you can do it. But Heat exhaustion is a real concern. Your umbrella saved you from experiencing that. Been there.

    Amongst the trials and tribulations on trail there is beauty. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and making great videos. The heat mixed with that rocky terrain is certainly tough. You’re killing it girl! 💪🏻☮️

    Hi Condor, WOW you are tough. I missed you by about a day when I came off trail at Burney Falls. I hiked SOBO from Ashland. The 25-mi day into Burney Falls was really hot, the last 5 miles were out in the open a lot and it was a bit much and I experienced some heat exhaustion. I got a ride to Redding on the 2nd of July and it was 112 F. Glad I didn't continue on to Hat Cr rim and the Belden area, not much shade. Pine

    I knew your were going to hit the heat but by the time you post your videos, you’ve already gone through the area. I understand that you got freaked out, but you don’t know what you don’t know. Others have gone through those areas with the same experience. I think it’s perfectly normal to be concerned as long as you’re no too hard on yourself for not knowing the conditions. It’s great you’ve got others to hike you. It’s comforting. You’re doing a bang up job! Burney falls is awesome!

    I hope you enjoyed my neck of the woods, 4th of July weekend in Burney is extremely busy with Burney days going on. The church was just about the only accommodations available. I ran a few hikers from Old Station to Burney on that Monday and I think they only found availability at the church.

    Looks like you're having a great time on the trail...cruising along, making friends, and generally enjoying the hike.

    That’s my biggest fear. Getting over heated. Glad you are ok.

    Im sure the trail will provide a tramily, when you get back to it.😊

    I agree. It's nice to hike alone, but it's also nice to have someone that is keeping a similar pace and looking after one another. Makes the camping better too.

    Hat Creek Rim looks like no joke but so beautiful. I can't wait to hike that section eventually. Looks like an umbrella is a great call! You continue to make the right decisions! 👏 You continue to inspire! Keep me in mind for future section hiking if that's how it turns out. 😊🌻💛

    Heat is so difficult to deal with. I'm happy to see you safely through this section, many PCT hikers have questioned why they were hiking during this section. Fighting cold generally means adding another layer, but we're so limited with fighting heat. We've just had a four-day run of 100+° here in Portland and the heat really ramped up after 4:00 p.m., jumping a degree every 10-15 minutes to hit 103-106 by 6:00 p.m.
    I hope you're still on the trail with a good group around you. The Oregon trail pioneers kept journals, at least the women actually kept journals, and they always spoke of the "elephant" as a great danger. Elephants were an unfamiliar animal back then and scary to those who hadv only heard rumor. The "elephant" they spoke of was their fears of the unknown, yet they charged ahead, bearing babies, fighting illness and disease, all to reach their goal in the land of milk and honey. I hope to see you at PCT Days.

    I’m the same way in the heat so I can certainly understand why you hit the trail early. Plus, one has a better chance of seeing wildlife if one is on the trail early. I was lucky on the Hat Creek Rim because it was cloudy and cool. I had been scared of that section for years. But we both made it!Thanks for videoing and sharing with us.

    People always under estimate the hat creek rim from old station to burney. Nor cal will be a lot easier but lots more trees and I know you hate going through trees. Oregon, esp southern Oregon is very dry and a lot more lava fields. For miles. Thanks for posting

    I think it is good and healthy to question your choices out there. I think it is awesome that you took up with some others and considering a tramily. Could be a great option of it keeps you going. Can t hurt to try! Glad to see you marching on!

    Awe! That's what I'm worried about, I need someone to hike with but I suck at meeting new people. I hope your new tramily works out for a while.

    10 by 10, then 2nd breakfast and a nap (wait out the heat of the day), then hike another 10 later afternoon early evening works best for me.

    • @memathews
      @memathews Год назад

      The heat of the day is somewhat dependent on latitude. For example, the heat of the day here in northern Oregon is around 6:00 p.m., so a stop at noon is wasted. Better to stop around 3:00-4:00 p.m. here, have some dinner and hike out around 7:00 p.m. I take advantage of the long evenings since it's light until 9:30-10:00 p.m.

  • @hikingadventureswithshanba1365

    I have a silly question for you, I use water bottle holders but mine seem to hit high. What style do you use so that they aren’t in your way like mine?

    • @TikiBirdTracy
      @TikiBirdTracy  Год назад +1

      Mine are Justins UL bottle holders from Etsy. Not sure he makes them any longer though. These are 4 years old.

  • @adamday5045

    Is this video lgbtqia+ friendly?

    • @TikiBirdTracy
      @TikiBirdTracy  Год назад +6

      Why on earth does any of that matter? Such a bizarre question to ask. It's friendly to whomever/whatever chooses to watch, as long as you're not an a$$ to people.. I'm not coddling anyone who is sensitive to anything I share during my hike or has a problem with how I conduct myself. Everyone is offended by everything these days 🙄😵‍💫
