    Hi Dr. Mike from Vancouver B.C. This is my first public comment ever, but I hope you get this message. I want to send you a heart felt thank you for the information you provide me everyday. You've provided me with humour and education towards my fitness goals. In 2022 I survived brain surgery and came out of it perfectly. My body took care of me when I needed it to. Fast forward to last summer I got tagged in a picture on FB on the beach. I was 244 lbs at 6' 1" and looked awful. I actually told my buddy to take the photo down. What pissed me off is that photo represented the health problems I went through, and I failed to take responsibility. I now get up at 4:30 am every morning before work and train like my life depends on it. Some mornings when I lay there thinking it's too fucking early, I look at that photo, get pissed off, and jump out of bed. I'm now 230lbs and stronger than ever thanks to your advice. I'm 9 weeks into my weight training routine and I feel great. Your approach to overall health has made a huge difference in my life. Thank you so much Mike.

I've eaten the exact same quantity and quality of food for four years straight with no sugar or junk food. I burn close to a thousand calories per workout using a 30 kg weighted vest for 4.5 miles of fast paced rucking. It doesn't make a goddamn bit of difference. 7 to 10 at night for me, I always save my last meal for about 8:30pm , even 9 if I can then I'm good...well good enough I don't need to harness 100% will power only 30 to 40%

      @@quentonnankivell956 Same, I time my last meal for 8-9 and if I’m craving bad, I force myself upstairs into bed. Same deal, only need 30% willpower at that point lol.

    Wise info! Lovin' it.
    Even better advice for the average lifter versus the cutter in comp. The cutter should already have this type of discipline.
    The spice advice also can be enhanced by simply utubin or researching cool ways to cook classic meals.

    I just started this video but the game changer for me has been doing maintenance phases. Ive been doing 6weeks dieting 4 weeks maintenance and just as soon as it starts getting “too hard” its maintenance time and I recoup. 4 weeks later im ready to go again. I’m down from 182 to 160 in the last 5 months. Nearly at my goal.

    • @MaeAbr
      @MaeAbr Месяц назад

      This is the way. The biggest issue I STILL see in pop culture is dieting until you hit your goal. If you’re already lean, go for it. But if you have a little while to go you must diet in cycles, your body and mind can’t handle extended dieting. I’d argue that your body starts to get used to your lower calories and arrives at homeostasis. Refeeding (during a diet) and reverse dieting isn’t really a thing (so says the research), but cycling between dieting and maintaining DOES work. And eventual bulking when it’s time to put on mass (most likely followed by a cut).
      This isn’t new to RP veterans, but seems to not be common knowledge to the greater public.

    years of fasting got me very in tune with the difference between hunger and cravings and that makes dieting not all that complicated for me these days
    I have a harder time with the mass accumulation phase and have to resort to junk food, but I remember Dr. Mike says it is okay as I am slamming full bags of chips and family pack Sour Patch Kids on weeknights. Thanks Dr. Mike!

    Being on a the tail end of a cutting phase is a real character builder. I've learned to not be picky about food when I was getting the last %s off. I remember saving the brown rice for last in my meals since those carbs tasted so amazing.

    Hey Dr. Mike, first off, holy shit I really enjoy your channel. The informational insights are spectacular and the comedic antidotes are sophomoric and top notch. I love it! I have a question. I’m 45 and have been a lazy bastard until now and have been getting it to becoming more fit. What is a good way to prioritize my diet and hypertrophic exercise if my schedule works on a swing? I.e. I work nights W-Sat and sleep a normal schedule from Sunday-tue. Thank you

    This comforts me like a warm blanket. I don't quite have these issues yet, but at week 10 right now, the brain "F*$K it" signal Mike's talking about is starting to bleep a lot, so this is very real. This video is like putting a swiss army knife of strategy in my back pocket for when that signal gets close to blaring through the logic barrier.

    Catching this video after I completed my 8 week fat loss through the RP diet app. The push through that Dr. Mike described is 💯% accurate. I got mad and was ready to quit, but I looked at my errors and fixed them. From there the shedding began! During travel, the food scale was helpful.
