The trailstars maximus truly are perfection for barefoot running, imo. Perfectly combination of lightweight, secure, comfortable, and still a great ground feel. Plus they are great for water and don't drag behind like Huarache style sandals

      Jesse,
So glad you like them! TrailStars have been a great addition to the Shamma line-up. I'm still rocking this pair of sandals from the video. I'm about to Eclipse 700 miles in them and when I do I will do another update. Thanks again for the kind words about the TrailStar Maximus.
      Happy Trails!
      Josh

I wish I had watched this video before ordering my TrailStar Alphas specifically for my running project of running every street in my city. Due to some past plantar plate injuries, my regular Warriors were a little too thin for forefoot areas. I liked my Warrior Maximus models for running, but wanted something just a tad more secure on my foot. Hoping to kill two birds with one stone, I ordered the TrailStar Alphas to avoid forefoot problems while getting maximum strap security. Well, they started ok for shorter runs, but as I got past the 10-mile point on a run, the slight rigidity of the Mountain Goat / Alpha sole caused the frontside ankle straps to yank down on my extensor tendons on the top side of my foot before my heel could connect with the ground, even after loosening them a bit. The sole turned into a slight lever, pulling the strap down and causing some extensor tendon tenderness in my left foot. However, I've since ordered some TrailStar Maximus models and they should provide the security and flexibility necessary to be my ultimate footwear for running all 2,500+ miles of Tulsa, Oklahoma's city streets! I'll save the TrailStar Alphas for the trails. I'm documenting the process on my Instagram - username "everysinglestreettulsa"
    Thanks, Josh!

I agree with you concerning the rigidity of the Alpha's I think they are a great sandal for hiking and shorter runs (something around 5 miles). The Trailstar Maximus is so flexible that the resistance on the tendons is negligible. Let me know who they work out for you. Happy Trails!

I'm on my second pair of Cruzers now but I think I'll try a pair of Trail stars next, I like the look of the lacing system.

I think they are a great sandal and a nice change of pace from the huarache style lacing. It's great to have both!

I really love the comfort, grip, security, almost everything about mine. I've had them for a little over a year (two summers) of primarily walking/traveling, hiking, whitewater, and light jogging. Only downside for me has been the 3 plugs. I've had a few of the dust covers come off and ordered replacements, but the front one isn't replaceable. Since it doesn't adjust on the front one I threw shoo goo in there for now. Replacing the plugs isn't a big deal, but the rubber cutout on the front that the plug sits in is blowing out/separated from the sole. I ordered a new set of soles and replaced just the right one, so hopefully the shoe-gooed post without a dust cover doesn't accelerate wear of the rubber cutout. Was hoping for a bit more durability overall given the generally light use I put them through.
Still love the sandals, and the trailstars lacing fit/comfort/security is the best in the industry segment imo. I'm looking forward to whatever y'all come up with next!

I think a ibex tread with trailstar lacing system would sell well
