What classic movie should the girls watch next?
"The Neverending Story"
the original "The Time Machine" from 1960.
Shawshank Redemption
The Blues Brothers
Gremlins
Gremlins 2
Stand By Me
The Breakfast Club
The Human centipede
If you want more Tom Hanks, Philadelphia, Appolo 13, Road to Perdition.
"Give me your hands, Boss." I still maintain to this very day that Michael Clarke Duncan should have won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his work as John Coffey. He's still forever missed. 💔😇
I agree.
I agree, but you gotta admit, that was a tough year for that category. You had Duncan, Tom Cruise (Magnolia), Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense) and Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley). To be honest, I'm still stumped that Michael Caine won for The Cider House Rules; for me, as good as he was, he ranks fifth in that year's Best Supporting Actor category.
*_The Academy is wrong more often than they are right; MUCH more often_*
More importantly, Frank Darabont wasn’t even nominated.
100 percent absolutely
Also, RIP Michael Clarke Duncan, he was phenomenal. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role.
Ladies
Hayley is actually correct about John Coffey if he is acting like other JC. During an interview, host asked Stephen King, "Is John Coffey reference to other JC?" King replied, "yes" Remember that Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross even Pontius Pilat washed his hands of the execution. Paul (Hanks) wanted John somehow to escape his execution, but John stopped him from doing it. John wanted to end his time after facing trauma. Before he left his time, John gave him the "gift" or "curse" for atonement of letting God's gift be executed.
There's even a myth of someone cursed with eternal life for being an a-hole to the original JC during his walk to the crucifixion, which Paul is a blatant reference to.
@@snorpenbass4196- You’re talking about Longinus, who was the Roman soldier who pierced Christ’s side with his spear.
Pontius Pilate actually wanted to set Jesus free.
@@Parallax-3D According to the movie, The Seventh Sign, it was the soldier who struck Jesus on the face. (John 18:22) There is also the story of the Wandering Jew, about a man who mocks Jesus as he's on his way to his crucifixion and is cursed to live until Jesus' second coming.
Looking forward to your reaction to The Green Mile. Also sorry to hear what happened to your reaction of _The Shawshank Redemption_ being taken down by Copyright 4-5 days later after your upload along with the boy’s reaction to _Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning_ I swear RUclips continues to be relentless with your copyright strikes but your enthusiasm continues to excite me.
Love this movie, if you don't cry shed a tear you aint human
Great reaction you guys...This is one of my favorite movies...Both Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan did an outstanding performance...I think this film was nominated for 4 Academy Awards.
One of the best movies of all time.
I've seen this movie about 5x, and I watch every reaction to it I find. It still makkkes me cry every time.
I love watching people's reactions to this movie. I'm so glad I'm not the only one that cried
Anyone not moved by this movie ha a heart of stone.Great reaction.
Amazing movie as are many of Tom Hanks movies and you ladies gave a great reaction to it. Not to worry about the silent crying, if you don't shed tears watching this you're not human.
Such an amazing movie. Everyone played their roles so well.
I definitely relate to being a sappy person/emotional. 😢
So I really enjoyed and appreciated both your heartfelt reactions.
Ha! The mouse is something I can relate to. I discovered a lone mouse living in my apartment so I started leaving little bits of bread and cheese at night. I'm going to capture it and keep it as a pet. I'm naming it Algernon. Kind of a pet project 😊
John didn't resurrect Mr. Jingles; he was almost dead but not quite gone. That's why he wasn't able to help the girls, like he said he was too late.
One of the best movies in my opinion in every way, but especially in the way of making you feel for these characters
If i remember correctly from the book, Delacroix was in there for murdering his ex and then to cover up, set her home on fire, but sadly a family next door was killed by that fire as well.
The actor is Grahme Greene he played kicking bird in Dances With Wolves. Barry Pepper who played the young guard really was crying. The actor who played John was Bruce Willi's bodyguard. Bruce is the one who convinced him to audition.
"When I stand before god and he asks me why did I kill one of his true miracles....what am I going to say?"
That quote of the movie is devastating to hear. Imagine the pressure on that poor man having to execute a living angel
Doug Hutchison played a brilliant sinister mutant in 2 episodes of The X-Files years ago. He was great as Percy in this also.
John Coffey (JC) who appeared as a grown man without a background. He would perform miracles and raise the dead and the died with a crime he didn’t commit as a martyr .
“Props to this actor for making us feel this way”
Somethings you should know about Doug Hutchinson that played Percy Wetmore, I’m sure have mentioned already that Doug Hutchinson at the age of 50 years old married a 16 year old girl. If that doesn’t make you re-adjust your views, then go review another of my favourite tear jerker movies - A time to kill. Huge cast, and great movie. Doug Hutchinson played a small role in the beginning as a racist man that raped and attempted to kill a 10 year old black girl.
Some people don’t need to “act”, some roles come naturally to some folk, in the wrong way.
Bravo ladies. As for what to watch next; Three Days of the Condor, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), The Wonder Boys, and maybe the Apple TV series "Ted Lasso."
I think part of the reason Mr. Jangles getting stepped on is so shocking and awful, in addition to him being so darn cute, is how it impacts Del and John, who are sweethearts.
Wow! Percy is right up there with Dolores Umbridge as one of the most despicable characters in a movie. THE SPONGE WAS DRY!!!!!!😧😧😧 PERCY YOU BASTARD!!!! 😡😡😡
The 1st guy to be ☠ was the "chief" in Dances With Wolfs.
Thought y'all should know that the description is for Shawshank and not Green Mile lol
Yup....pretty much reacted exactly how most of us expect to Percy. Such a gross character we all love to hate. 😅
Great reaction guys, this book and movie is amazingly tender in so many ways ❤
I'll never forgive the universe for taking Michael Clarke Duncan away from us so soon
In a civil society people are obligated to take part as witnesses to executions, just as people are obligated to jury duty, etc.
Great reaction!
Just a correction. Your explanation of the video still says this is the Shawshank redemption.
The flies represent, the Lord of flies. He who dwells in the dark, that Coffey is afraid of.
Props to the wife you say. That's what marriage used to be. For better or for worse. Now it's for better or until I get bored or find someone better. Men and women are strongest together. But that's been lost now. Now it's "he didn't listen to me, so I'm taking half and his kids." Don't deny it. Around 80% of divorces are initiated by women.
I forgive you for crying because I always cry watching this movie and I’m 41 year old man
John Coffey is Jesus, to confirm it: The initials of John Coffey stand for Jesus Christ. The movie is Jesus's life till the day of crucifixion.
.0001%film💯🌚💯💯💯💯
Great Reaction
Y'all would be Ballin' hard at The Color Purple. Or did you see that one yet😂💯♥️🌹
i'm hundreds of miles away, real, and near on 100 years after the fact and even I can smell homemade Louisiana cornbread from here!!
St.christopher patron saint of travelers....how appropriate
19:56 _"... should not be this painful though dude"_
Facts that women don't know about.. a lot of men suffer from urinary infections when they get older.
Also, such jobs, especially if you were a psychopath, were the ultimate fun/most enjoying jobs.
I refuse to acknowledge that the Green Mile is a classic. I saw it in the year it was released.
This is easily one of those movies where every role was perfectly performed by each actor. Not only are there no bad performances in this movie, but there's not even a mediocre performance in this movie. All of them were amazing.
I was about to say something similar. They did such an amazing job.
The stars definitely aligned on this project (pun intended).
I just gave me comment and now see you said the same, only much better
There was not a single miscast role in this film, large or small parts it doesn't matter. It was done to perfection.
I don't know...Mr. Jingles seemed weak in parts.
In case nobody pointed it out yet..it was the Great Depression and the guards were very lucky to be employed. That’s why Percy threatened Brutal with being on the bread lines (where people would wait for bread because they couldn’t afford to eat). It was also uncommon to take off work to go to the doctor when jobs were so scarce.
🎯💯
"if you make any noise ill kill her and if she makes any noise ill kill you.....he killed them with their love, with their love for eachother" is an absolutely brutal line
Arguably the most heartbreaking scene and line.
Sometimes there's Folk's That belong on the row God Forgive me let me make this sincere look at the DOOMSDAY COUPLE KICKING UP SAND IN HAWAII AND JJ PLUS KYLIE DISMEMBERED CHAD SUSPECT OF KILLING HIS WIFE GRIEVING FOR JJ, KYLIE AND WIFE MY CONDOLENCES TO THE GRANS They did it because the kids were in The way😔Disposable 💔
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
Sam Rockwell didn't want to say that to those little girls,he'd got to know them while filming and was upset he had to do that scene.
This movie nearly broke me. The story, the actors, the dialog, the cinematography and the characters and their development was absolutely incredible. The humanity and its extreme polar opposite with Percy and Billy was crazy. Del's death started my downhill slide and John's death destroyed me. The loss of Michael Clark Duncan was truly terrible. Amazing reaction ladies. Cheers.
The director of Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile also directed the Jim Carrey movie “the Majestic”
The first man to die in the chair is played by Graham Greene who became a star thanks to Dances With Wolves. The actor that rehearses his execution is the great Harry Dean Stanton who has been in a million movies including Alien. This is such a wonderful movie with a great cast.
He also played Harry Clearwater in Twilight.
The most recent thing Graham Greene was in that I know the Girls saw is The Last of Us.
I love Graham Greene in my #1 fav TV show, Northern Exposure.
Greene is side-splittinglyhilarious in Maverick (Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster)
"what will i tell God when He asks why i killed one of His miracles?" the quote cuts me every-time...
I know what you mean. For me it’s when he talks about being as lonely as a “Robin in the rain”. In the book it’s “sparrow in the rain” and I like that better but it’s still good…..
It doesn't matter how many times I see this film, I am a mess every single time. It's so beautifully done and tugs on every heart string possible! 😭
Kind of like a James Blunt song... You are ready, but that doesn't mean that it didn't hurt.
That “I’m tired boss” speech gets me every time! And the way Tom Hanks said “roll on two” when John Coffey was being executed! Jesus that was heart breaking!
There is a lot of religious symbolism throughout the film. The cathedral-like windows over the guards desk and the halo of light from the movie projector around John's head. John also takes on Del's pain during the execution.
I read the Stephen King novel before the film. The backstory of the death-row prisoners is in the book.
Also his initials are J. C. ….interesting, huh?
Another thing that I find Jesus-like is when Paul asks John "what am I going to say to God on judgment Day when I stands before HIM and God asks ,"why did you kill one of my true miracles?"
And John Coffey answers "you tell God the Father it was a kindness that you done"!
As far as I know Jesus referred to God as God the Father all the time in biblical writings! So John Coffey using that phrase in reference to God is also a clue that he could be Jesus HIMSELF!
Also an angel would not have the power to pass a judgment of death on to humans! So John Coffey using Percy to kill wild Bill and then making Percy mentally incompetent is not something an angel would have the power to do!
Just my opinion but seems viable!
Also he sees the biblical ref in the stars
I read it when it came out and it was released as a six part serial, each part one month apart like the old 30s magazine and movie serials. It was an agonizing wait for the last few parts because when I get into a good book, I won't sleep and I couldn't do that with this one.
No no dont watch lame movies like this... watch
FIGHT CLUB 1999,
or
SHUTTER ISLAND 2010
or
THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO 2011
_____________________________________
This movie you watch is so lame and fake , it also makes you feel sympathy for black people in prison when in reality 99, 9 % of them are there for a reason. And its not because of " racism " it's because THEY COMMIT FREAKING CRIMES.
Del: "I'm sorry for what I do."
John: "I'm sorry for what I am."
Thats one of the sadest lines of John. 😭
@markl1839 Angels, just like up in heaven D':
You ladies are just the sweetest, and you have nothing to apologize for; most of us were crying right along with you, myself included. Honestly, this is probably my favorite reaction to this powerful, painful, wonderful film, and I've seen a lot of them. Your reactions were top tier, in every possible way.
Thank you. 😊
If any people do not cry at this film, they should be send to Briar Ridge!
I am crying the about 20th time of sseing the film, the 10th time of reading the books, the 15 times of heraing the audiobook and the 12th time seeing reactions on this film.
These two need their own channel. They are so sweet and give amazing reactions
Right?!
They could just stay put and react as well.
They always have fun and interesting things to say and I enjoy the sobbing too. Good to know I'm not alone with needing tissues.
John Coffey = JC = Jesus Christ,
Just not spelt the same!
That's a movie that makes you cry about literal murderers. None of them, except for John, were good people. None of them denied it, and they knew they deserved what was coming for them.
Strange thing, when you can feel sorry for the worst people, depending on the point of view.
Also, Paul described the reality of what many people want: immortality, or at least a very long life. It's a curse, something a human isn't made for. You won't enjoy it, but feel the passing of the years, of the people, until you either go insane, or so hurt that no one can ever reach you.
RIP Michael Clarke Duncan
Most of the prisoners are human beings capable of empathy and humanity. They did something impulsive and stupid and they're paying for it, but they're not complete monsters. They have depth and nuance and emotional complexity.
Wild Bill and Percy are mean and cruel through and through. Probably never said a nice word to anyone they couldn't use for their own gain. Percy's a textbook bully, using his connections and perceived power to get what he wants and face no consequences. Wild Bill is probably some kind of sociopath with the emotional depth of a mud puddle. All he wants is to hurt people for his amusement, but if he's going down, he's going to take as many people as he possibly can with him. Del and Bitterbuck could have ended up somewhere else if they made better choices, but people like Percy and Wild Bill don't change, they only stop when they get caught.
@@Wis_Dom Del raped and murdered a young girl before starting a fire, which caused the deaths of six more people (including two children), resulting in his being sent to death row after a lengthy trial. HE was scum only the movie chooses to portray him in a sympathetic light.
@@Wis_DomDidn't he rape someone and accidentally kill her? And then he tried to burn the body, but ended up accidentally setting a house on fire and killing half a dozen people?
Definitely simple, but "good person" is a conversation. He definitely wasn't good when that happened, but he was definitely a person that wanted to do and be better by the end.
@@Wis_Dom Are you the kind of person that views all interactions as a competition? Chill dude, I read the book about 20 years ago and I was just clarifying.
This movie will still be getting people emotional a million years from now.
Because many of Stephen King's stories coexist in a shared multiverse connected by the Dark Tower series, it seems to be implied that John Coffey had the shine, like Danny Torrance from The Shining. Of course, that's just one interpretation.
I think many times, if you read a Stephen King novel, it will mention characters from other novels, like they're all somehow connected.
@@j.woodbury412even in Carrie, his first novel, it mentions Teddy Duchamp, who was later of course in The Body.
@@ZiggyonMars Cool! I've never read the novel Carrie or watched the movie, but that is an interesting fact.
Oh no ladies, Doug Hutchinson (Percy) is as punchable in real life, don’t think he had to act too much for this role
Get yourself a tissue 😢 🤧
Whoever did the editing for this did a great job. Felt like I was watching it all over again. I know it takes a lot to edit these in a way that makes the condensed version still feel cohesive.
It's absolutely criminal that Michael Clark Duncan didn't win an Oscar for his acting in this movie.
Stephen king can make you scream or make you cry
I think it's so clever how this movie is so 'realistic' in terms of dialog, how long it takes before anything supernatural happens, and how the characters react to that - it's clear they live in a universe where that stuff is NOT normal, which is something a lot of movies fail to portray. It all adds up to make the John Coffey stuff so much more hard-hitting but also doesn't diminish from the normal human interactions of Percy, Del and everyone else. I don't necessarily love 100% of everything Stephen King does but this is such a perfect balance between all those elements.
Thanks for this, guys - big strong bloke here, in as much dire need of tissues as you are... :)
The problem in the 30's, UTI and kidney infections were not easily treated. Penicillin wasn't available for this issue until after WWII.
Yes, ladies, John Coffey is a Christ figure. He appeared out of nowhere, as if he had just “fallen out of the sky.” He had foreknowledge of future events. He can see the good or evil that is in men’s hearts. He can heal illness and afflictions and resurrect the dead (if it’s not too late). He is innocent, with a pure soul, yet he is made to suffer and die because of the sins and wickedness of others. And even his initials are J.C., just like Jesus. (Recall the scene where John is watching his first-ever flicker show, and the light from the movie projector is illuminating his head from behind, just like a halo: The Christian symbolism is unmistakable.)
This whole movie breaks my heart every time! The tumor hits so close to home! I had a brain tumor, causing seizures most likely most of life but was able to have it surgically removed thankfully! It will be ten years since it's been removed this coming January
So glad you survived that. From a cancer survivor (7 years & counting!)
Also glad you survived the operation and wish you many many more years of healthy life.
Glad you could do the surgery about 75 years later than the timeperiod in the film.
The fact that the girls _Green Mile_ reaction went from 1k-3k views in the first hour to 26k+ views 16 hours later is very impressive considering their previous reactions following _Ready Player One_ and prior to _Shawshank Redemption_ (The Blade Runner films, The Prestige, The Adam Project) only went to 14k-20k and/or 30k views 2-4 weeks later whereas their Shawshank Redemption (until it was taken down) and their _Green Mile_ reaction the viewership skyrocketed, in fact it’s the first time since their _Alien_ films reactions, and their reaction to _The Terminator_ and _Predator_ respectively that I seen a film reaction done by Hailey and Stella get so much attention and viewership (25k+ in less than 24 hours).
I guess folks just like films that are extremely good or are considering Eye-protein to enjoy such as the Alien, Predator and Terminator (mainly original and T2) franchises. It Wouldn’t surprise me that the Girls Green Mile could get to 50k-100k before the end of this month or within less than 24-48 hours.
Some time ago i saw a documentary about the making of The Green Mile.......it's amazing with lots of interviews with the actors. Apparently the whole cast and crew had a real family feel throughout the filming and production of it. Well worth a watch !
Stella: "All I have in the way of tissues is this tiny napkin."
Me: "Oh dear..."
The only fault I could fine in this movie was " Give you a nickle for that moonpie". No prisoner is going to be allowed to have a piece of metal on them. Let alone on death row. Otherwise one of the best movies around.
Time for tissues these young ladies will probably need them.
A cotton mouse on average I believe lives about 6 months to perhaps a year. If the same time frame applies to Paul, he will live between 8,000 to 10,000 years. But then again we don't know the rules exactly.
Outside of nature, in a protected environment, the lifespan of a mouse will usually double to triple. Pet mice usually live for 2-3 years. Even then, pretty sure he'll live into his thousands
The fact that Paul and the mouse lived so long always made me wonder how old John Coffey and what all he’d had to live through.
It is a very powerful and emotional film that can even make the toughest of the tough cry buckets full of tears. Truly spectacular.
"Dead Man Walking" is a sign for everyone else to get out of the way. I went to prison in 2009, and the first stop is diagnostics, which was at Georgia Diagnostics and Classification Prison. I spent 20 days there before being transferred to a different prison. Death Row was also at that prison. If you heard an officer yelling "Dead Man Walking," you shut up and turned to face the wall until they went by with that inmate.
I never actually read the book(s) because they released it as these really short minibooks that I didn't have the patience for, then never read the compilation. If it is faithful, Stephen King is always strong on character development. If his book falls apart in the 3rd act with a random spider monster, you'll still be attached to the characters. Stephen King had said in "On Writing" that John Coffey has the initials J.C. for a reason.
Earliest Sam Rockwell role I can think of is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Girls I would like to say thank you so much for this incredible and heartbreaking reaction of _Green Mile._ I literally was crying and bringing tissues while watching the reaction.
Also since Stella had mentioned back in their _Shawshank Redemption_ reaction on reacting to serious, dramatic and Oscar-winning movies I recommend that both her along with Hailey will react to the following films (outside the Dramatic and Prison-themed films) following _Good Will Hunting:_ _Schindler’s List, Apollo 13, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Pan’s Labyrinth, Silence of the Lambs, ET, The Goonies, Hook, Gremlins_ (for December as its a Christmas movie), _Labyrinth, The NeverEnding Story, Breakfast Club,_ and _Stand by Me_
I especially recommend the latter film, _Stand by Me_ and the films starring Tom Hanks (Apollo 13, Forrest Gump) considering the former like _Shawshank_ and _Green Mile,_ _Stand By Me_ was another Stephen King adaptation based on a coming of age story/novella, so highly recommend you give this film a watch and as Tom Hanks was in _Green Mile_ I wouldn’t mind you at least watch _Forrest Gump_ and _Apollo 13._
Another that could be added for sheer brilliant performance is "Deloris Claiborne" also written by Stephen King and starring Kathy Bates (she's oscar worthy also in "Misery" again by Stephen King).
There are three Milestone Films in the life of a reaction channel. Two starring Tom Hanks, and two written by Stephen King.
This, Shawshank, and Forrest Gump. And Tom Hanks was considered for Andy in Shawshank, but he made FG instead.
"Good Will Hunting" is an outstanding movie
@@martinm8991 I’m super excited that the Girls reaction to this movie is today.
Unfortunately, it turns out Percy's actor wasn't acting. He was just being himself. Doug Hutchison, at 51 years old, married a 16 year old girl. In her own words after ending the 'relationship', she said it felt more like a conservatorship.
EDIT: Also, I have no idea how the story this is based on explains it, but I always figured John showed Percy what Wild Bill did to the girls. And Percy killed Bill for it. You can see a single tear roll down his cheek before he pulls his sidearm and fires.
I always felt that John Coffey was in control, and Percy was just “along for the ride” at that point, so it was John causing the tears. Doubtful that Percy would care, even if it was the rape and murder of two young girls. Percy was scum.
Michael Clarke Duncan (John Coffey) is one of the GOATs. I will always remember my reaction when he started speaking as Atlas in "God of War 2". My mouth dropped and I immediately searched online to see if it was him and it was. Just one of many memorable voices he's done throughout his career.
RIP Sir Duncan.
How many ppl have shed tears for Tom Hanks' mouse AND his volleyball?
John Coffey’s description of feeling other people’s pain has always resonated deeply with me. One of the most impactful lines in a great movie.
RIP Michael Clarke Duncan
The witnesses include, the attorneys inviting the case, the victims family members, the prisoners family members, and press.
you NEED tissues!!!!!
John Coffey = JC = Jesus Christ
Never apologize for crying, it's a testament of truth. I have watched this over 30 times, at least, beginning from seeing it the first time in the theaters, and I cry .. every.. single.. time.
Great reaction, yeah this movie had the whole theater crying
RIP Michael Clarke Duncan
Great classic movie and all of the characters are incredible.
Gary Sinise and Tom Hanks have been in 3 films together
The actor that played John passed away. Tom Hanks told a good story at his funeral.
The movie shown at the beginning is called Top Hat. It's a great movie as well.
God this movie is still ridiculously heavy and heart wrenching, I remember watching this for the first time and how much it hurt to see someone as gentle and innocent as John be subjected to a fate as cruel as this all because he wanted to help and couldn’t. Micheal Duncan truly was a gentle giant. John Coffy deserved the world
Told you this was the best place to go after Shawshank. :D
Stella got wrecked
Hi Ladies!😊 This is one of my favorite dramas. I've never watched this one without crying.😭 Almost everyone is surprised at the supernatural twist the story takes. There are three films based of the writings of Stephen King and directed by Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead). Two have been reacted to here: This film and "The Shawshank Redemption". The third film, which feels most like a King story is "The Mist" (2007). It is a very unusual horror film. Great reactions to this wonderful tear jerker film, Ladies!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏
My grandmother's name was Stella. Born and raised in the Italian Alps around 1900.
This movie is absolutely one of my favorites. A perfect film in my eyes. Makes me sob every time too.
Rip Michael Clarke Duncan. Great movie. A true classic!
