@9:44 The man with the beard is Edward Woodward. He starred in the U.S. drama The Equalizer, which ran from 1985 to 1989. The Denzel Washington Equalizer film franchise is loosely based on the series.
Listen you guys watch the barrowers from the 90s please check this out. Slughorn is the dad and draco malfoy is the son. Its wild that he started much younger.
In case no one mentioned it, Cate Blanchett, one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, is hidden in a CSI suit. BTW, Father Christmas was played by Peter Jackson, probably the shortest cameo on record.
@@eschiedler The Blanchett cameo was a subtle f-you to the studio. They wanted Wright to cast more big name actors (ironic given that the cast is a veritable Who's Who of the British theatre), so he cast Cate but put her in a costume that meant you couldn't tell who she was.
Hayley and Stella just started their own RUclips channel (“Hayley & Stella”) and posted their “welcome to the channel” video today. They’ll start posting videos in a few weeks😃
36:53 In England, swans(mainly wild swans) are legally royal property, making it illegal to destroy their nests, injure them, and kill them. There is a local superstition that killing a swan is considered an act of treason against the country and the Crown, when in reality you either spend six months in prison or pay a 5000-pound fine(which is roughly 6000 usd) or higher depending on the severity. The bad guys may be criminals, but there's no chance in hell they'd wanna mess with the Queen xD
@@lloydcollins6337 yeah "Stormaktstiden". But we just don't need them to make ships anymore. It's kinda funny the rule is still there. Ironic how we also sunk our most impressive ship due to hubris
also the swan is probably a plus for the best village award, not like all those crusty jugglers... so they basically just didn't kill him 'for the greater good'.
The script originally had a love interest for Nicholas. When the character was written out, much of her dialog was given to Danny, with little to no changes.
Not arguing, but is there a source for that? I mean, the point of Hot Fuzz is that its a buddy/cop movie... can't really do that if there's a love interest instead of a buddy..?
@BaldusCattus it's discussed in CinemaWins's video on this film, though I know I heard it before then. Either way, I didn't mean they removed the love interest and added Danny - my understanding was that it was always a buddy cop film with Danny, and when the love interest was written out they simply moved some of her lines to Danny
@@Vectorspace000 Ahhh I see, I'd seen another comment here that says they changed the part from one to the other, then I misread yours; thanks for the info!
One of the best behind the scenes bits is that they talked to cops and were like: what don’t you like about cop films? The answer was “They never show all the annoying paperwork. That is like 75% of the job.” 😂 So they made an effort to put paperwork at the forefront of the plot and include badass paperwork montages. 😂
A few interesting facts: Yes, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are best friends IRL. They lived together before they were famous, and Simon encouraged Nick to get into acting by giving him a main role in his tv series "Spaced'. The Inspector was played by Steve Coogan. The guy who watched the security cameras and triggered the mine was Edward Woodward, who played the Equalizer in the original 1980s tv series. Great reaction ladies!
Some more about the film... 1) Janine (His GF) is played by Cate Blanchett. 2) His training scenes were filmed at Hendon, the former Metropolitan police training centre... (Also featured twice in the avengers films, South African city that Hulk smashes and the Eastern European Country that is lifted). 3) His training and the police office behaviour is actually accurate and had advisors from the Police Service. You do a minor boo boo... you bring cake or doughnuts to EVERYONE in the station.
@@babalonkie 4) This channell has also watched the original Omen film recently. The Hotel Owner ("facist", "hag") is actually the actress that played the evil Nanny in the Omen
Fun facts about this incredible movie: The director, Edgar Wright, based the village in this movie on the town he lived in. They wanted Timothy Dalton as the villain, Skinner, for a while but were afraid to ask him since he had been James Bond and surely wouldn't want to be in this "silly" movie. He said yes quickly after being asked and haven read the script and had an absolut blast playing the role (and it shows).
I watch a lot of reaction channels. Easily several dozen regularly. It's fairly straightforward to be good enough for me to tune in every time they react to a movie I like, but only a few stand out enough where I am watching mainly for the people and not just for the movie or show they're watching. Stella and Hayley quickly established themselves among the best duo's on the site: great chemistry, solid editing, and a natural and genuine talent for media and storytelling literacy and analysis. If they don't take over here, I truly think they could build up a solid channel on their own. I completely would understand if they don't want to take on all the responsibilities of running a channel themselves; it's a lot of work to take on without much notice. But they truly have a gift for creating this kind of content. Whatever they decide to do. I just want to thank them for raising the bar in a niche that has a wide range of quality.
A little easily overlooked detail, the desk sergeant is always reading a novel by either Iain Banks or Iain M Banks depending if it's the day or night shift. (same actor, Bill Bailey, playing both)
Not only that, but even though they clearly portray them as two different people in one scene, both of them have the same collar number on their uniform, 101. Incidentally, 101 is also the non-emergency police phone number in the UK. The code for the evidence room, 999, is the emergency number.
Even after this channel ends I hope both Hayley and Stella make a new channel with more movie reactions or something else on RUclips. If not then they don't have to worry about it. They both look beautiful ❤️
Same here I definitely think Stella and Hayley should form their own reaction channel and not only continue with their Classic Movie reactions but also do more reactions to more Horror and Sci-Fi films along with more animated movie reactions and TV series reactions (Live-Action & Animated). Heck I think it would be awesome if they continue to co-react with Nobu on the Anime Reacts channel that he’s set to run.😮
Recently on January 19 through an Instagram post by both Hayley and Stella they are forming a new reaction channel and will continue to do more reactions together moving forward and the new channel will be linked on the final White Noise reaction upload. So this is big news and I do hope that not only would they react to more movies but also TV series (Live-Action & Animated) and also Animated movies for their upcoming reactions.
Fun reaction! Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are actually SUCH irl good friends, that the script - which originally had a girl love interest for Nick Angel, was instead just merged with Butterman's role - that is why some of the dialog comes off a bit touchy feely, where they go home together after a night out etc. They used to platonically share a bed when young, studying, they are super close friends - and entirely platonic, which... should be more normalized among ze lads - it's okay to touch, it's okay to hug, etc. Also - cops loved this movie, cus it's one of the few that actually make action-shots OF the paperwork! Also, also, I think the best idea would be to tie a sweatter around the neck - and then *another* around the waist Fun fact, they didn't take the spike out, because you're supposed to leave it in - if something has stabbed you, it is better to leave it in place, untill getting medical help, because the object in place usually prevents bleeding.
As a matter of fact they are, cause on January 19 via Instagram both Hayley and Stella announced that they are forming a new reaction channel and will continue to do more reactions together moving forward and the new channel will be linked on the final White Noise reaction upload. So this is big exciting news and I do hope that not only would they react to more movies but also TV series (Live-Action & Animated) and also Animated movies for their upcoming reactions.
Hayley and Stella just started their own RUclips channel (“Hayley & Stella”) and posted their “welcome to the channel” video today. They’ll start posting videos in a few weeks😃
As Shaun of the Dead was a tribute to the zombie movie genre, this was Edgar Wright's love letter to '80s and '90s action movies and all of it's tropes. It's my favorite film of the Cornetto trilogy
Good News Everyone (no I’m not pulling a Professor Farnsworth) but on January 19 (2 weeks ago) Instagram both Hayley and Stella are forming a new reaction channel and will continue to do more reactions together moving forward and the new channel will be linked on the final White Noise reaction upload (which remains to be seen). So this is big exciting news and I do hope that not only would they react to more movies but also TV series (Live-Action & Animated) and also Animated movies for their upcoming reactions.
The way the Cornetto Trilogy works is there are 3 flavours of Cornetto ice cream, so the movies are 3 different genres (flavours) of movie that are directed by the same man, and star the same cast in completely different roles (as a collected anthology as opposed a sequel trilogy). Pegg and Wright had worked together in the past, but the three (with Frost) worked together on the TV show Spaced (written by and starring Pegg and Jessica Stevenson/Hynes, as two people posing as a couple to get a nice apartment, while having surreal encounters with the people of the neighbourhood). Hynes is the leader of the other group of survivors in Shaun of the Dead. Janine, the woman in the Crime Scene outfit, who dumps Pegg, is actually Cate Blanchett.
"there are 3 flavours of Cornetto ice cream, so the movies are 3 different genres (flavours) of movie" So if the people at Cornetto are fans of the movies, they can start selling 20 different flavors of Cornetto?
I thought it might be a bit like the spaghetti western trilogy (Good, Bad and Ugly, Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More) - given they are both italian food, sort of@@Murdo2112
This is definitely my favourite of the trilogy. Yes, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are indeed best mates IRL. You should watch Paul, an alien film they did I’m very impressed with Stella’s knowledge of British actors! Timothy Dalton (Simon Skinner) is probably best known for playing James Bond. He makes an excellent evil villain, though! 999 (the code for the evidence room) is the phone number for the emergency services here in the UK, by the way 🙂
I met Jim Broadbent a year ago when he came for dinner in my restaurant and he does speak that same way in real life. Both him and his wife were lovely.
Timothy Dalton was fantastic in this movie. Also, in truth: Hiding behind a table is helpful. Not only does the table actually stop certain calibres and shot but it can also help to redirect the incoming fire and even allow for your limited armour and flesh's natural defence to hold up when hit. If a 9mm round has to pass through 2 inches of Oak before it hits your chest. You might actually survive the bullet. So yes. The hiding behind a desk thing does help. As for the naval mine explosion: in an open space 200m is the general distance that objects would be affected by the pressure wave but not necessarily would everything within that distance be critically damaged. In an enclosed space like the evidence room: It would likely cause significant damage to the building's core structure but it's possible that if you were more than 20m away from the actual explosion: You could survive with minimal injuries. The main character should probably be at least critically injured, though.
This movie packs 3 of my favorite genre's into one movie...comedy, action and horror/murder mystery...never a bad choice to watch or rewatch for the 100th time 😅
I know your not planning to go this direction, but can Hayley and Stella take over reacting on this channel? I like their movie/actor knowledge and commentaries.
It’s very impressive that even though the girl’s reaction to _Hot Fuzz_ was recorded back in October of 2022, the fact the reaction is currently sitting at 30k+ views four days later and beating out their previous reaction viewership of _The Prestige, The Adam Project, A Beautiful Mind, Stand By Me_ and their _Before_ Trilogy films is amazing and no doubt if the viewership continues to rise I could see this eventually surpassing their viewership of their reactions to the _Blade Runner_ Films along with _Apollo 13_ and _Good Will Hunting_ in the next week or two and reach within the 55-70k views one month later. Also I notice that depending on the films the Girls are reacting to, such as the _Terminator,_ the _Aliens_ films, _Predator, Ready Player One, Shawshank Redemption_ (until it was taken down for Copyright), _The Green Mile, Hot Fuzz_ and to a smaller degree _Good Will Hunting_ and _Apollo 13_ they get more viewership and attention and go to 15k-30k views within the next 24-48 hours and _Green Mile_ is now at 112k+ views 2 months later. However in some reactions like the _Blade Runner_ films, _The Prestige, Adam Project, A Beautiful Mind, Stand By Me_ and their _Before Trilogy_ films or a film that is not as popular or not widely reacted those reactions only reach to 1-3k views or 5k-10k views in less than 24-48 hours but eventually the viewership slows down and they earn only 1k viewers every 5-7 days and only earn to 10-20k views a month later.
OH MY GOD! I'm so glad y'all watched this. It's the perfect send-up of buddy cop movies from the '80s and '90s, and for a comedy has a pretty decent action sequence at the end! So much fun, and Nick Frost and Simon Pegg again make the perfect comedy team. The rest of the cast is a surprising number of big names for this kind of film. For a movie largely in the same spirit as the Cornetto Trilogy, and with Pegg and Frost, check out Paul from 2011!
The detectives making jokes about people dying is actually a thing that happens. Talk to any police officer or paramedic who has to deal with death on a regular basis and you'll find they develop a very morbid sense of humour as a coping mechanism. It's a way to relieve the tension before it erupts in more fatal ways
I'm sure you know this by now but if not then yes, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are best buddies. They met in 1990 when Frost worked with Pegg's then girlfriend. They became flatmates. When Pegg co-wrote a great sitcom (also directed by Edgar Wright) called Spaced about two people pretending to be a couple in order to get a flat, he gave a fantastic role to his friend Frost in what was essentially his first big acting role. He steals every scene he's in,
18:05 fun fact I was in a film with David Bradley, who played filch (shot separately) but managed to meet him when the film was first being shown in the place it was shot and he is the most loveliest person to chat with.
One of my favourite Buddy Comedies of all time. I appreciate that there's no love interest, although there apparently was supposed to be one for Simon Pegg.
The fact that James decides to just nuke this account and all of it's success, and then not even give it over to Haley & Stella really sucks. They deserve it and neither does the channel deserve to die, they are showing they can absolutely handle it on their own. Here's to hoping James comes to his senses and gives the girls the channel since he is done and over it.
@@DerekDerekDerekDerekDerekDerekSometime later this week or next week, their _Series of Unfortunate Events_ film group reaction was recorded weeks if not days before the December 6th announcement and the Girls _Hot Fuzz_ reaction was recorded in October of 2022 before they did group reactions with James and Nobu and had been an exclusive Hero Tier reaction on their Patreon before its release two days ago. So most of the final reactions they’ll be putting are earlier reactions done prior to December 6th.
It Wouldn’t surprise me that James and Nobu’s reaction of _The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,_ the Animator Reacts of _Prince of Egypt_ along with the Group reactions for _Snow White and the Huntsman_ the _Huntsman Winter’s War_ and _A Series of Unfortunate Events_ were recorded 1-2 weeks in advance before James dropped the December 6th bombshell video of the channel ending which caused those reactions to be unreleased and their’s evidence of it considering back in September/October the channel had faced some copyright which caused some of their reactions to be delayed for 1-2 weeks. The _Gravity_ reaction which was set to come out on October 12 and be the next reaction following the _Children of Men_ reaction got delayed to 2-3 weeks to October 26, which was originally meant for their _Warcraft_ reaction (which was recorded back on October 12/13) but that got pushed to November 2. If their _Gravity_ reaction was not delayed then the _Huntsman Winter’s War_ would’ve come out on November 30th while _The Sorcerer’s Apprentice_ would’ve come out on December 7th and _A Series of Unfortunate Events_ for December 14th, but unfortunately the latter two reactions were put in carbonate following James’s Announcement video of the channel ending on December 6th which resulted in most of those planned reactions that were reacted 1-2 weeks ago and were set to be released prior to December 6th announcement video to be not available on RUclips and Patreon until there release 3-5 weeks later Even there’s further evidence and I could easily tell when a reaction was recorded weeks ahead and when it becomes available for early access cause the Saturday reactions with Hayley and Stella and the Thursday group reactions were recorded 1-2 weeks ahead of time before officially posting them on Patreon and eventually RUclips, depending on their personal schedules and reactions schedules. The _Stand By Me_ reaction and the _Apollo 13_ reactions were recorded 1-2 weeks in advance and initially _Stand by Me_ was set to come out on November 25th a week after the _A Beautiful Mind_ reaction but got delayed for two weeks due to personal scheduling issues and other factors (the Girls went on Thanksgiving break which would explain why their _Stand By Me_ reaction wasn’t uploaded and why they weren’t with James and Nobu for _The Sorcerer’s Apprentice_ reaction ) which resulted in the reaction to be officially uploaded on December 4 (a Monday) and the _Apollo 13_ reaction was originally set to come out on December 2 but pushed a week due to the delay of the _Stand By Me_ reaction so no doubt those reactions along with the _Snow White and the Huntsman_ _Huntsman Winter’s War_ and _A Series of Unfortunate Events_ group reactions were recorded weeks ahead before James December 6th announcement video. Now I’m not sure when the Before Trilogy film reactions were recorded but It’s likely that all three films were recorded weeks before James uploaded the December 6th video.
James mentioned in the December 6th Announcement video which you can watch yourself, that he wanted to be more focused as a Writer and an Author than running the channel as a reactor, and at the same time he got married with his new wife which happened on January 6th. So because of this, he decided to retire/end the channel instead of letting Hayley, Stella, and his Cousin Nobu run the channel moving forward. All I can say I’m just disappointed and saddened by that announcement cause they reached 200k subscribers back in July of 2023 and had a 200k+ subscribers celebration in September while at the same time reaching 250k+ in September of 2023 and in December they were almost 10k-15k subscribers away from reaching 300k subscribers until James decided to flush all those achievements and accomplishments away like it wasn’t important and decide to end the channel.🙁 Besides, there are hundreds, perhaps thousands and millions of movies that the White Noise Reacts channel haven’t reacted to yet until it’s closure (e.g. The remaining Pixar movies (e.g. Elemental, Soul, Luca, Finding Nemo), Barbie, Oppenheimer, the remaining Disney and DreamWorks animated movies, Comedy films etc) and not willing to continue to react to those movies in 2024 onwards is just literally a _“What the Heck?”_ and a disservice to the fans. On top of that I’ve seen plenty of Reaction channels that still are continuing to do reactions 3-4 or 5-6 years after they started out such as Reel Rejects, BlindWave, The Normies, TimotheeReacts, ANGELINA, It’s Totally Cody, Natalie Gold, Vkunia etc.. and in some of these channels they had a few reactors that were once a part of the channel before leaving for better lives and have other members still run the channel.
I felt the same way but I just looked up the announcement video and James posted an update saying that the other 3 didn't want to take over running it or switch to their channels. But they're reconsidering because of the amount of support for it. I feel like we were blaming James without knowing the full story
You two should totally keep going with reactions. You’re both witty and smart and there is a ton of great movies out there waiting for you U2, especially Apocalypse now.
A small note on Doris (Olivia Colman) - it's a fairly standard trope to have a lot of sexist jokes when there's a single female officer (heck, it's standard in a lot of different workplaces). Here, they have the female officer _telling_ all the jokes, to flip the trope on its head - and showcase the brilliance of Olivia Colman 🙂
The woman on the bicycle shooting with guns in both hands is a reference to the iconic 1969 "True Grit" shootout scene where John Wayne yells "Fill your hands you sonofabitch!"
This is one of my favourite reaction channel and knowing that it will close this month makes me so sad. I am from India and wanted you guys to react to more Indian movies. But with everything going on I don’t think that will happen. I wish you luck for your future endeavours. Love from India to all 4 of you. Will miss you guys 😢
the thick table in the pub will stop the bullets, the speed of the bullets from a shotgun or a hand firearm will not penetrate a thick table , you would need a 50 cal to do it.
Didn't think you would be uploading another reaction especially the rest of the Cornetto Trilogy (Hot Fuzz, The World's End) considering there was no group reaction uploaded on Saturday. Also, when was this recorded cause the mention that the Girl's Hot Fuzz reaction was recorded a while back suggests this was either recorded before the December 6th video or back in late 2022? Looking forward to the officially released reaction of the Girls' _The World's End_ reaction whenever it comes out this week, and although with the White Noise Reacts Channel ending I definitely think Hayley and Stella should continue to do more reactions and form a new reaction channel together and at the same time also do co-reactions with Nobu on the Anime Reacts channel along with reacting to more animated films.
The callbacks in this film are unparalleled. I could literally do one every few seconds, because EVERYTHING gets a callback, but some of my favourites: 32:55 - "there's more guns in the country, everyone and their mum is packing round here. Like who? Farmers. Who else? Farmers mums..," 35:13 - basically this WHOLE fight callsback to when he met each of them, for instance "you're a doctor, deal with it" 37:34 - "do you want us to just start going through the phone book? Who should I start with, Aaron A Aaronson?" 38:34 - Frank broke his arm, I hear swans can break a mans arm with their neck
If you are a movie or tv buff the film is loaded with stars, Timothy Dalton ex James Bond, the vicar (Paul Freeman) is the bad guy from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, the doctor (Stuart Wilson) is the bad guy from Zorro, the CCTV operator is Edward Woodward from the Equalizer, Cate Blanchett, Olivia Coleman, Bill Nighy, Peter Jackson (Lord Of The Rings Director), Martin Freeman (The Hobbit), it goes on and on. If you watch Game of thrones, then the trolley boy Michael (Rory McCann) plays the Hound and one of the detectives (C.I.D) is Paddy Considine - King Viserys in House of the Dragon.
They were looking for an actor like Timothy Dalton for the role and couldn't find one. So Simon came up with the brilliant idea of actually asking the James Bond alumni if he wanted to be in the movie and he surprised the trio by saying yes. His acting instruction was "ham it up" and he reportedly had great fun doing so. Incidentally all the members of the Village Green Appreciation Society were known for playing famous British secret agents and detectives in TV shows and movies. The calibre of the actors was amazing. Also speaking of casting, Danny's role was originally written for a female actor, but when they cast Nick in it they kept most of dialogue, and it worked so well. Hot Fuzz is one of my favourite movies for the editing and stagecraft. There is not a wasted shot and it all eventually connects together: Checkov's gun to the max. So many call-backs. Edgar Wright at his best. The Cornetto trilogy is connected by it's approach to the genre-breaking attention of classic movie tropes. The first was their take on a classic zombie movie, the second on a classic US cop movie, and the third was their take on the classic {CENSORED] movie.
I live in wells where this was filmed opposite the church. It’s where the director Edgar wright went to school. Great to also see Edward Woodward who plays Tom weaver in this movie. Edward Woodward was the equalizer in the tv show late 80s.
The police guy you didn't was Steve Coogan & the policeman behind the desk in Sandford was Bill Bailey. Tom Weaver is played by Edward Woodward, he was in the original series of The Equaliser shown in the mid 80s.This was the last big filmhe did before passing in 2009.
Edward Woodward was also the main character in the British horror classic, "The Wicker Man"; Billie Whitelaw, who played the inn receptionist doing the crossword puzzle, was in the fantastic '70's horror film, "The Omen"; and Paul Freeman, who played the town priest, was Indiana Jones' nemesis, Belloq, in "Raiders of the Lost Ark".
Not fully correct...there are two different policemen behind the desk. They are twins both played by Bill Bailey, and are distinguished by their shift times, their haircuts, and by the books they are reading. (One is reading Iain Banks, the other is reading Iain M. Banks....who is the same author, but utilizes different pen-names for writing for two different genres. :D )
Great reaction. Stella is smart, on the ball with this one (she anticipated a number of upcoming moments) and likes her BBC and British drama, so as a Briton she had me impressed straight away (plus at the risk of being corny, she's cute too) and I agree with her perspective on emergency sirens. Hayley hit the spot at 28:10 with speculating there was more than just a single killer involved here! A great pairing, ladies, and I'd echo what many others have said, that you would both have a very successful reactions channel if you were to branch out together! I have a love/hate relationship with this film. On the one hand, I love shows about policing and detective stories (including reality TV where they follow real police day-to-day), and I do like to see British humour get an international following to compete with the American cultural influences that usually dominate through Hollywood (sorry, ladies!) - but on the other hand I'm not a fan of the OTT gore and the exaggerated gunfights in the climax of this film, and I'm not into the "Cornetto trilogy" in general. I know the gore and guns are a deliberate parody of those genres, but it still puts me off a bit. The desk sergeant you may not be familiar with, but he is comedian Bill Bailey - well worth checking out his stand-up material, and he's a great musician who can play many instruments with a comic spin! There are lots of clips of him here on RUclips.
Simon and Nick shared a bed for warmth when they were struggling actors. The twins on the front desk at the police station are played by comedian Bill Bailey. Fun fact.. Michael Jackson stole the moonwalk from an old time performer also named Bill Bailey.
The actress playing Mary (pub owner's wife) was the mum in the other group of survivors in Shaun of the Dead. She also played the landlady in the show Spaced which was created by Edgar Wright and had Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, with Jessica Stephenson (Yvonne in Shaun of the Dead). Spaced is definitely worth a watch.
Timothy Dalton (supermarket) is a former James Bond, Doris is Best Actress Oscar winner Olivia Colman, Edward Woodward (CCTV guy) was The Equalizer, the hotel receptionist is Billie Whitelaw UK stage superstar. All through a who's who of top UK actors.
Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are best friends in real life. they both started acting in a series called spaced that Simon Pegg wrote its a cult classic here in the uk
The connection between the Cornetto films is that all the films feature a scene or two where the characters eat a Cornetto (a British ice cream cone sundae treat, (think U.S. Drumsticks).
This was filmed in Wells, a very small city here in the UK just 15 minutes from where I live. My grandparents live in Wells, and I saw a few snippets of the filmmaking for this while visiting them that year. To this day I still find it a little surreal watching this film and seeing them shoot up the town centre/high street, and I always find myself treading carefully around the church and the cathedral just in case of falling debris. This movie is a local legend in the area, too, since it depicts some of the quirks of life in the south-west of England with surprising accuracy - especially the bit with the incomprehensible farmer, or swans roaming the area, and as such we love to make references to it.
He also stared in the original Wicker man ( not the nick cage one) as the big city cop that travelled to a small insular village full of strange people and incidents
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost starred in the Britcom Spaced. You'll recognize other cast members from this tight ensemble of actors. Another must-see Britcom is Black Books. Both Pegg, Frost, and others made appearances in that one too. Fun.
fun fact: the guy dressed as Santa who stabbed Nicolas in the hand is played by the director Peter Jackson who is famous for Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit trilogy, King Kong and Braindead/Dead Alive
This is one of those movies you can rewatch so many times and notice new things every time. There's so much foreshadowing and so many little throwaway gags and bits of wordplay, like George Merchant being referred to as "the Fridge Magnate". Great stuff.
One of Olivia Colman's best roles in my opinion is in a film called Tyranousaur. A very emotionally heavy film that probably is not reaction friendly content, but an absolute must see if you want to see Colman at her most raw and powerful.
And that film was written and directed by Paddy Considine, who was one of the annoying 'Andy's' detectives in this film. It's a HARD watch though, as brilliant as Olivia is though (as she is in everything) due to all the violence in it in the form of spose abuse.
Timothy Dalton is in this movie because they were looking for a "Timothy Dalton type of character" for the longest time until someone suggested just asking Timothy Dalton
Edgar wright has become one of my favorite ever directors, he does so well with the action and even the music like in baby driver and last night in soho. Then you look back at his other stuff like Scott Pilgrim vs the world. Just such an impressive list of movies from him
I've seen this movie a lot and I just caught this line that foreshadowed the main plot at 4:20 because Hayley said, "I was about to say, he definitely could" Like a lightbulb went off. "You can't just make people disappear" "Yes, I can. I'm the Chief Inspector" WHAT!?
Actually she's Galadriel. He's Bond, James Bond. Ian Holm was perfectly cast. What ties the movies together is in each a cornetto, a conical ice cream treat, is eaten. Shaun - red, Hot Fuzz - blue, World's End - green.
The part of Danny was originally written for a woman, and there was going to be a romance between her and Angel in the film. But they decided to have Nick Frost do the role, and instead of rewriting the role, they left a lot of the dialogue unchanged. That's why the scene where they go back to Danny's and watch movies kind of feels like a romantic date scene, especially stuff like when Angel says "I don't know how to shut off" and Danny touches Angel's head with his finger.
Not arguing, but is there a source for that? I mean, the point of Hot Fuzz is that its a buddy/cop movie... can't really do that if there's a love interest instead of a buddy..?
@@BaldusCattusFrom IMDB's Trivia page for Hot Fuzz: "The first draft of the script included a love interest for Nicholas named Victoria. She was cut from subsequent drafts, but a good amount of her dialogue was given to Danny, often without any changes." This is also discussed on the special edition DVD. And the original script would still have been a buddy cop movie, but Angel's buddy would have also been his love interest.
Which are your favorite characters from these two?
Both! Definitely both!
Best bromance ever.
Please 🙏😢 don't end the channel. You two are perfect to carry it from now on. PLEASE 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏.
@9:44 The man with the beard is Edward Woodward. He starred in the U.S. drama The Equalizer, which ran from 1985 to 1989. The Denzel Washington Equalizer film franchise is loosely based on the series.

Two great cameo's easy to miss.
@@eschiedler The Blanchett cameo was a subtle f-you to the studio. They wanted Wright to cast more big name actors (ironic given that the cast is a veritable Who's Who of the British theatre), so he cast Cate but put her in a costume that meant you couldn't tell who she was.
Most will know, but also Edgar Wright himself as the petrol station cashier.
Peter Jackson has cameos in each Lord of the Rings movies. They are very 'blink and you will miss it.'
@@chrispalmer7893 Cate was also a massive fan of Shaun of the Dead so jumped at the chance of a cameo. She didn't even get paid.
These 2 would definitely have a successful reaction channel if they started one.
Hayley and Stella just started their own RUclips channel (“Hayley & Stella”) and posted their “welcome to the channel” video today. They’ll start posting videos in a few weeks😃
You may be a psychic...
...or a really lucky guesser.

In England, swans(mainly wild swans) are legally royal property, making it illegal to destroy their nests, injure them, and kill them.
We have something similar in Sweden but with oak trees. The king owns all the oak trees so you need permission to cut them down
@@moondaughter1004 That's because mature oak is perfect for making ships out of, and Sweden used to have a great Navy in the 17th and 18th centuries.
@@lloydcollins6337 yeah "Stormaktstiden". But we just don't need them to make ships anymore. It's kinda funny the rule is still there.
Ironic how we also sunk our most impressive ship due to hubris
Not true, the monarch only "owns" some of the Thames swans, it's still illegal to kill a swas though
also the swan is probably a plus for the best village award, not like all those crusty jugglers... so they basically just didn't kill him 'for the greater good'.
@@BaldusCattus @Vectorspace000 They (Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright talk about it in the behind-the-scenes material, so be sure to check it out)
@@Vectorspace000that's hilarious
One of the best behind the scenes bits is that they talked to cops and were like: what don’t you like about cop films? The answer was “They never show all the annoying paperwork. That is like 75% of the job.” 😂
So they made an effort to put paperwork at the forefront of the plot and include badass paperwork montages.
Oh I watched The Equalizer fairly regularly and never realized that was Edward Woodward!
Edward Woodward played a cop himself...in the 1973 original version of The Wicker Man.
@@zachgaskins3731 His last line in that film is the same as the last line in this one "Oh God No" - He also played in a great TV series called Callan
Janine is played by Cate Blanchett and the Santa is Peter Jackson
Omg. I've seen this movie dozens of times, and I never realized Santa was Peter Jackson.
They have a channel, nothing is on it yet!
Also, also, I think the best idea would be to tie a sweatter around the neck - and then *another* around the waist
Fun fact, they didn't take the spike out, because you're supposed to leave it in - if something has stabbed you, it is better to leave it in place, untill getting medical help, because the object in place usually prevents bleeding.
Stella and Hayley definitely should continue this channel or do another channel. They're fun to watch and have a great chemistry.
Set in Gloucestershire (Pegg is from there), but filmed in Somerset (Wells, between Bath and Glastonury). Well worth a visit.
Aww man, I'm gonna miss Stella and Hayley reacting to stuff.

"there are 3 flavours of Cornetto ice cream, so the movies are 3 different genres (flavours) of movie"
So if the people at Cornetto are fans of the movies, they can start selling 20 different flavors of Cornetto?
It's a reference to Krzysztof Kieślowski's acclaimed series of French films, the "Three Colours" series.

You should watch Paul, an alien film they did
I’m very impressed with Stella’s knowledge of British actors!
Stella's gleeful demeanor for a murder is both unexpected and adorable lol
This movie packs 3 of my favorite genre's into one movie...comedy, action and horror/murder mystery...never a bad choice to watch or rewatch for the 100th time
😅
I know your not planning to go this direction, but can Hayley and Stella take over reacting on this channel? I like their movie/actor knowledge and commentaries.
You are the ONLY reactors to get the Romeo + Juliet homage.
The actress with her face covered at the crime scene in the beginning is Cate Blanchett
And Santa is the director Peter Jackson
Stella and Hayley have always been the best part of this channel. There's no reason you can't just keep the channel going with them.
He steals every scene he's in,
I think Pegg may have gotten Frost a tiny tiny cameo role in ”Big Train” in 1998. If you’re quick you can spot him in a skit involving a puppet.
18:05 fun fact I was in a film with David Bradley, who played filch (shot separately) but managed to meet him when the film was first being shown in the place it was shot and he is the most loveliest person to chat with.
One of my favourite Buddy Comedies of all time. I appreciate that there's no love interest, although there apparently was supposed to be one for Simon Pegg.
as well as the other actors mentioned below Sandor Clegane played Michael, he later played The Hound in Game of Thrones
I'm confused... When's the channel ending?
If their _Gravity_ reaction was not delayed then the _Huntsman Winter’s War_ would’ve come out on November 30th while _The Sorcerer’s Apprentice_ would’ve come out on December 7th and _A Series of Unfortunate Events_ for December 14th, but unfortunately the latter two reactions were put in carbonate following James’s Announcement video of the channel ending on December 6th which resulted in most of those planned reactions that were reacted 1-2 weeks ago and were set to be released prior to December 6th announcement video to be not available on RUclips and Patreon until there release 3-5 weeks later
Even there’s further evidence and I could easily tell when a reaction was recorded weeks ahead and when it becomes available for early access cause the Saturday reactions with Hayley and Stella and the Thursday group reactions were recorded 1-2 weeks ahead of time before officially posting them on Patreon and eventually RUclips, depending on their personal schedules and reactions schedules.
All I can say I’m just disappointed and saddened by that announcement cause they reached 200k subscribers back in July of 2023 and had a 200k+ subscribers celebration in September while at the same time reaching 250k+ in September of 2023 and in December they were almost 10k-15k subscribers away from reaching 300k subscribers until James decided to flush all those achievements and accomplishments away like it wasn’t important and decide to end the channel.🙁
Besides, there are hundreds, perhaps thousands and millions of movies that the White Noise Reacts channel haven’t reacted to yet until it’s closure (e.g.
Fun fact, the guy dressed as Santa Claus who stabbed Nicholas in the hand?
Peter Jackson.
You two should totally keep going with reactions. You’re both witty and smart and there is a ton of great movies out there waiting for you U2, especially Apocalypse now.
The whole things with the swans is because they were the queen's property and it was illegal to kill them
A small note on Doris (Olivia Colman) - it's a fairly standard trope to have a lot of sexist jokes when there's a single female officer (heck, it's standard in a lot of different workplaces).
"That's big talk for a one eyed fat man"
You can never appreciate how good this film is without knowing who the actors are, and their previous roles.
Their both beautiful, but Hailey is my cup of tea
Pegg and Frost are the funniest most likable friends in cinema.
If you love Olivia Colman, you've GOT to see "Cuban Fury". She plays Nick Frost's younger sister, and his former competition salsa dancing partner.
@31:39 you cut the best part! "GREAT BIG BUSHY BEARD!!!"

The callbacks in this film are unparalleled.
I could literally do one every few seconds, because EVERYTHING gets a callback, but some of my favourites:
32:55 - "there's more guns in the country, everyone and their mum is packing round here. Like who? Farmers. Who else? Farmers mums..,"
35:13 - basically this WHOLE fight callsback to when he met each of them, for instance "you're a doctor, deal with it"
37:34 - "do you want us to just start going through the phone book? Who should I start with, Aaron A Aaronson?"
38:34 - Frank broke his arm, I hear swans can break a mans arm with their neck
"you can't make people disappear" "yes I can, I'm the Chief Constable" Meanwhile in Sandford...
I'm surprised you two didn't see Paddy Considine playing one of the Andys, he's the King Viserys in A Dance with Dragons.
It’s house of the dragon.
You asked who the ex wife was. Surprisingly, it's Cate Blanchett!
She did a little cameo and you only see her eyes.
Bill Nighy as the Chief Inspector in London, played the step-dad in Shaun.
@@heyheyjk-laand he also played Iven ooze in the original power rangers movie
One of the funniest and craziest buddy cop action comedy movies ever made!
Well/s, it's also where Edgar Wright grew up, if I remember correctly.
@@heyheyjk-la Indeed it is!
The bearded man that runs the surveillance cameras is Edward Woodward, he played the original Robert McCall (The Equalizer) ...
I hope these 2 continue the channel. They are entertaining!
The connecting thread is the cornetto ice cream. There’s one in every movie in the trilogy. That’s why it’s called the cornetto trilogy.
Not quite. It's more accurately the "Three Flavours Cornetto" trilogy, which is a nod to the Three Colours trilogy of French drama films. :)
It's a HARD watch though, as brilliant as Olivia is though (as she is in everything) due to all the violence in it in the form of spose abuse.
when Doris was like that's me after a couple of pints, while talking about the pig on the spinner and she was inbetween two guys 🤣😭
Fun one, Ladies. I especially liked the corneto brain freeze scene. 😆
Timothy Dalton is in this movie because they were looking for a "Timothy Dalton type of character" for the longest time until someone suggested just asking Timothy Dalton
very underrated, pure comedy gold with a fun story too, and sweet characters!
Edgar wright has become one of my favorite ever directors, he does so well with the action and even the music like in baby driver and last night in soho. Then you look back at his other stuff like Scott Pilgrim vs the world. Just such an impressive list of movies from him
English countryside??? Didn't u see what happened to those 2 American backpackers in American werewolf in London 😂😂😂
The connection between the films of the cornetto trilogy is the cornetto 🙂
Decaffeinated?
Facist!

It’s interesting that walking around at night seemed unusual to you, from a UK / European perspective it really wouldn’t be
I love how yall are invested!
10:33 The two have been very good friends for a long time. In 2005, Frost was best man at Pegg's wedding.
LOVE the Cornetto Trilogy.
I think I've enjoyed everything Simon Pegg has done. An underrated movie he did is called Run Fatboy Run.
Trust me if all that stands between you and a bullet is a table, you’ll use the table.
4:43 - Cate Blanchette.
I've seen this movie a lot and I just caught this line that foreshadowed the main plot at 4:20 because Hayley said, "I was about to say, he definitely could" Like a lightbulb went off.
"You can't just make people disappear"
"Yes, I can. I'm the Chief Inspector"
WHAT!?
Actually she's Galadriel. He's Bond, James Bond.
Ian Holm was perfectly cast.
What ties the movies together is in each a cornetto, a conical ice cream treat, is eaten. Shaun - red, Hot Fuzz - blue, World's End - green.
How does Ian Holm come into this?
@@BillyButcher90 Check out the ambulance crew when Skinner (Timothy Dalton) is rescued.
@@beannathrach2417 That wasn't Ian Holm.
@@BaldusCattusFrom IMDB's Trivia page for Hot Fuzz:
"The first draft of the script included a love interest for Nicholas named Victoria. She was cut from subsequent drafts, but a good amount of her dialogue was given to Danny, often without any changes."
This is also discussed on the special edition DVD.
And the original script would still have been a buddy cop movie, but Angel's buddy would have also been his love interest.
@@jhornacek thanks for the info 👍

Just dropping this one in, in case no one's said already Michael ("Yarp" guy) is The Hound from 'Game of Thrones'
