Being Retired military, I have Rucked with a ton of gear in that same Ruck Sack ( Backpack) and the fact you carried a full tent plus all your gear, You are a BEAST!
If you look carefully when he covers the bags with a small tarp around the 4 minute mark you can see a building roof maybe 50m away from the camp site. I don't think this is quite such a remote camp as he wants you to believe.
I’m 61 and did this in February in the interior of BC for two nights in 22’, just me and my dog. Drove up a logging road and parked my 4x4, and proceeded to haul all my gear on snowshoes and dragging a ski pulk about 300 meters up a hill into the forest. Took me a lot longer than I had anticipated, since I had to keep a fire going to keep my dog warm. Finally got set up in my Luxe Megahorn tipi and Winnerwell stove and got to bed at 1:30am, do t think I was ever that exhausted in my life. Got down to -18C at night but we stayed warm enough due to good sleeping systems. It was a great experience and have done various winter camping trips since. Planning on doing one similar this winter in February but with my Russian hot tent.
@@rileymcelmurry6604 I used my Russian bear tent on a frozen lake in BC last February. I used my ski pulk to drag all my gear on the lake and spent two days and nights out there with my dog. Didn’t catch much but it was a great experience. No one was on the lake at night so it was incredibly quiet. You’ll have a great time. Just make sure that ice is thick!
Ok now your making me jealous. I have a snowtrekker tent with a stove I built. Here in north Idaho we don’t get the good cold like we did when I lived in Minnesota but it will do. Can’t wait for winter to set in. Happy camping 👍

Then I heated them up on top of the stove and had some late night grub during my fire watch. We had 1 hour shifts. All that effort for one nite is ridiculous. But I have lived in similar in the Snowy's OZ, for all of an autumn and a winter, no bigger then that, with a homemade stove, I loved it.

Man, that's a lot of gear! Like the peaceful setting. Enjoy and appreciate the silent video, just the natural sounds of the woods, snow and work. But hard pass on a hot tent in snow with no floor. Though at least you had an inner structure with a floor for your sleeping area. A heated enclosure with a "snow floor"... You're wearing boots all the time, everything is damp, then it gets muddy if the snow pack is shallow enough. It's a mess. Did it once years ago and won't do it again. But hats off to you for a great job at producing a relaxing, quiet/serene video!

I just bought a Nordic legend ice fishing shack/tent it has a stove port. I'm so excited to use it this fall/winter

I did that in the Swedish army…. One of us kept watch to keep the fire going all night… not my best experience but memorable
