Put 3 hot rocks in your shelter when you go to bed and 3 more in the fire. When you get up during the night put the cool rocks back in the fire and the hot ones in your shelter. Keep rotating like that when you stoke the fire, you will be much warmer at night
I have tried this several times and it does not heat as much as you think unless you have a good raised bed so the heat comes up through. I find a simple rubber hot water bottle boiled up will last a good way through the night. then when you wake to stoke the fire reheat the water all good to go again.
This is phenomenal! I have actually gone out and tried this and on RUclips there shelters are epic, Mine was survival lol. Literally walking through the forest trying to build a decent shelter that actually worked! What they will never tell you is this, When it’s cold out and you have a roaring fire, it is still hard to stay warm. I had to build a wall around my shelter to help keep the heat in. I always carry two large Tarps and I built the shelter then use the tarps for wind proof and water proof. Phenomenal video and just subbed!
Hello, that is a very nice shelter. Putting all of the pine over it, I just know that it must smell really nice too. In watching you I just feel in my heart that you are a very kind and gentle young man. Many blessings to you. ❤
When out like that. Try looking for a old tree stump. Which hopefully you can easily uproot from the ground. If not try erecting a shelter close to it. With the tree stump you can get a real good fire going that last you through the entire night. It holds all the sap inside which keeps it burning slow and hot.
Great lean-to in true bushcraft tradition. TIP-> An 8' x 20' clear, heavy duty plastic sheet would waterproof the roof and, more importantly, hang down the front of the shelter. Duct tape bottom front edge for reinforcement and place about 4 duct tape loops on the reinforcement. This permits a thick sapling (0r two) to be tied on to the plastic sheeting "door" to provide enough weight to hold it down. ** You need a horizontal pole lashed between two trees about 7 to 10 ft apart. The tarp goes over the pole and under yer angled pole roof and any boughs you lay on the roof. Bushcraft the ends with saplings & boughs. I've done this and, WITH A REFLECTOR FIRE IN FRONT, was warm all night and well after sunrise during a 15 F. snow storm. The clear plastic lets in 90% of the radiant heat from the fire. I myself was amazed B/C I originally brought the clear sheeting just for weather protection. BTW, nice heavy duty Norwegian sweater. I have two of them myself, mainly for skiing. I got one here in the USA and one in Tromso.
The Indians used to get large rocks red hot in the fire then bury them inside the teepee or wigwam. Super warm (don't do if with geodes, of course). Teepee also had opening at top so the fire could be inside...
You show sawing branches with your saw 90 degrees to the wood. Saw at a 45 degrees and both pieces are sharp for hammering into the ground. Saves unnecessary axe work later. S
I have to look really closely to your face. For some reason, i thought you're AgeofTheNorth. Anyway, i really like how you built your shelter, pretty cozy
When i was a kid running in the woods, young and free...forts, either tree or ground, were never built with tools like Bow Saw's. We had sticks...limbs, all felled from there dying demise. We picked them up, stacked them by size and broke the smaller ones over our bent knees, and the larger ones were made to size by wacking it several times by young will and strength against an opposing tree. These wilderness vids are nothing more than a trend away from conventional tv, cable content...here for your watching pleasure with all the same commercialized backdrop from yours truly, YT. Wake Up....If you're trying to relive, or live for the 1st making a fort or hanging out in the woods, wilderness......This is a Farce. Try to correct me.....I will counter continuously with eye opening facts. But I'll give it to the guy, he did build something.......

It would be cool to watch someone go out and build a shelter, complete it, then actually stay a couple of nights out there and show the sustainability. Most stay while they build. Finish. Then leave the next day
It's funny how these "bushcrafters" will bring lanterns, paint sets, enough food for full course meals, wooden cup, axe, hatchet, saw, carving knife but never cooking utensils.
If you don't bring your own shelter, tent, then stay home. I don't like it when men go out into the forest and cut down healthy trees to keep their butt dry.
Oh I can almost feel that cold wind. Stay warm young Man.

Это когда есть эти самые камни!
А если их вообще нет?
Тогда как.....😮
It's an acclimated lifestyle. He might not really feel it.

Cover the front to make it warmer.

Great job. ARE THERE TWO OR THREE OF YOU BROTHERS THAT DO THIS. you really do a good job. All of you.
Nice shelter and use of tools and materials 😊
Build a log wind block behind the fire. That should stop the wind from going into your shelter.

Nice video !
Now that's how you build a shelter.
looks like you were finally getting the shelter dialed in when you had to leave. looked pretty cozy at the end there
Great structure ! Enjoyed build and scenery …first time subscriber. Mike from California .
I think for a shelter like this you need at least one meter thick pine roofing same on the sides The wind will blow straight through otherwise
Nice good👍👍
Thank you
Good good video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed
Men u should put a tarp under the pine branches k .

Camping in the mountains
I want to try it too.
Try a teepee sometime. Less work. Cover with fir branches and the top serves as a chimney for a nice fire.

I made lean tos back in 1965 and always froze my ass off with smoke in my eyes.
It is too open for me.
Cool

6:36 There was so much fungus among us, even the fungus had fungus.
Мысль интересеая ,но не совсем правильно.
Посидеть ,сргрется рядом с костром и в призрачном шалаше,это такой засмысловатый способ заболеть и круто

Maybe build shelter under a tree next time.
Just take a tent!
All that work and you didn't sleep in it ?
Are you the Brother of "Age of the north"?
It's funny how these "bushcrafters" will bring lanterns, paint sets, enough food for full course meals, wooden cup, axe, hatchet, saw, carving knife but never cooking utensils.
are you siblings with age of the north?
His brother.
Why isn't any tiger coming to you?
The Snow and Cold
Lol Camping . Wow Trend wird mehr , aber nicht hier , campe mal in Alaska oder Kanada . Bis später :)
You didn’t make a big enough clearing of forest debris for the fire. You risk a wildfire 😡
Pour the fat over the fire to keep it burning well
We need some talking.
⛰️ 🔥
upeeta ,
Don’t bother trimming those branches. No need to make it look pretty.
Bring hot rocks into your shelter
Too shallow
Such a dirty place

All of that wood appears to be from felled trees...
