    I wish we had more scary episodes like The Empty Child - Doctor Who is supposed to cause kids to hide behind the couch. Also, having a monster who is completely innocent always gives an interesting twist (which is why Demons of the Punjab is Jodie Whittaker's best episode.)

    • @conlon4332
      @conlon4332 10 месяцев назад +6

      And more episodes, like The Empty Child, where despite being scary and unique, there's a truly happy ending and everyone lives. And I'm not saying most episodes, but there are too many that appear "light" on the surface but are actually darker underneath and people do die, but it's not really addressed very much. Don't make dark episodes seem light - give them the seriousness and thought they deserve, and give episodes that don't have to be dark less meaningless deaths and more scariness with happy endings. This is hard to explain - I'm not per say saying "more happy endings and kill less people" but I'm saying take it seriously when you do kill people and don't act like it's a happy ending when people die. Does this make sense? I feel like it doesn't. Basically, The Empty Child was an unusual mix of pretty scary and yet nobody dies, that I'd like to see just a little bit more often, but not an excessive amount.

    King Solomon did not want to split a baby in half. He offered this as a way to settle a dispute between two women each claiming the baby was their own. One woman agreed with this settlement proposal one did not and was horrified at the thought. King Solomon being wise knew the real mother of the baby would not want to see any harm come to the child even if it meant giving it away to another. And thus the real mother was identified and the baby returned to her safe and sound. Details matter words matter! I remember a story with Dr No. 3 with Jon Pertwee & the Master , played by Roger Delgado that shows the relationship between them when still on Galifrae but before that last episode of the story was aired it was stopped by a power strike, yep U heard right. The next Saturday showed the start of another story episode 1. What happened 2 the final episode that was not aired?

      All episodes of Doctor Who involving Roger Delgado portraying The Master exist and have been broadcast on FTA TV on several occasions over the past thirty years here in Australia.

I was dismayed (but happy to see) the shorts that were included with regular BBC Dr. Who shows that never made it to BBC America! Best example~First Night & Last Night --just so wonderful to see River and the Doctor's relationship developing!

    I can remember watching Dr Who originals in the 70s and early 80's from under the furniture, but can't recall which stories terrified me. Probably be embarrassing now as they'd seem pretty weak now. Don't think Ark in Space would have been among them, as it was too early in the fourths era. I'd have been three in 1975. I only recall from Leela on.

I was terrified of the spiders on their back and hate them in real life since. They look tame looking at them now but I still get the chils
