The LSA Blown Super Caprice PPV Chevy Could've Built

  • We built the ultimate Police Car!
I searched out and found the cleanest Caprice PPV I’ve ever seen for this project. This was a former Prison vehicle so it never saw the abuse a normal in-service Police car would. I purchased it with 17k on the odometer. The engine had a rod through the block so the first order of business was a brand new GM longblock.
The plan was to build something that was factory plus. I used new factory GM parts wherever possible including a new take-off LSA blower. The goal was to build a car GM could have produced themselves. Of course as the project progressed I could not help myself from adding things like headers, a cam and eventually heads, a big fuel system etc… The car is currently tuned for Flex Fuel from 87 octane up to E85. It seamlessly recalibrates the tune for whatever fuel you put in the tank. The car made 635whp/631tq on a Dynojet and was tuned by my friend John at Koza Performance.
The end product is amazing. Gen5 Camaro SS Brembo brakes fit perfectly under the Caprice Steel Wheels. Chevy SS springs lower it just a little and help the handling. I also utilized a Camaro ZL1 torque converter to help get the car off the line. In addition, the Caprice SS steering wheel controls work including the paddle shifters! This car really operates as if it came from the factory. It even has 2 key fobs with factory remote start.
To a trained ear you can hear a little of the cam and exhaust note is a little louder than stock but it is actually very quiet for the power it makes. I’ve taken it on family trips without any complaints from the wife or kids.

I've been fascinated with cannonball since the 80s when car and driver or road and track, had a couple writers take a dodge cop car and do a cannonball. Since I've been driving, I've always preferred sleepers and big 4door sedans. My current car is an 88 caprice with a 383, probably around 400 who, 700r4 and 3.08 rear.
Love your taste in cars and passion for "under the rada" hot rodding.
I too love driving as I've been an otr trucker for a major automotive parts store. Thanks for all you do sir!

You should use it for a Cannonball, but not to break the record, just to enjoy the ride man... (I hope to see more vids of this one) Greetings.

How hard was it to get the ss steering wheel on? Did it require any fabrication or was it a Straight bolt on kind of deal?
