Great video! Another similar video pointed out to be sure to deactivate the starter capacitor as that could shock you even with it unplugged. Also, I would wait at least 24 hours before plugging it into a GFCI outlet after sun drying or space heater drying it.
Thank you! The User Manual doesn't mention the coils and I wasn't sure if it was OK for me to unscrew the back so I could at least brush the debris off the fins. No one ever mentions the need to clean the coils - but they sure need cleaning!
Thanks. I have a different model here in the UK but this gave me to confidence to take mine apart and clean out the coils/fins with the shower head (they were caked in mold dirt and the dehumidifier was circulating smelly air!)
Great instructions and exactly what I was looking for. I just want to add that in order to remove the front panel there were two screws to remove on the front inside of deep tunnels. I couldn’t even reach them with my screwdriver and I had to borrow a long thin one. Don’t know if those screws were missing on yours or you just forgot to show that part.

Somebody needs to come up with a dehumidifier that is easy to clean. I have no innate mechanical ability---I could take my dehumidifier apart but I would never be able to put it back together! It's less than a year old and works great, but there is a strong smell of mold shooting out of it. There is no visible mold anywhere including the tank, the fins and the filter. Any suggestions?

Wow, you really gave it a deep cleaning congratulations! I think mine might need this because it's giving off sort of a funk in the room after operating for a while but I'm sort of hesitant to go in that depth I'm worried I'm going to damage some of the plastic or electrical components plus mine is only a few years old I'm going to try just cleaning the air filter firstly because I forgot about that and see if that helps. Kudos on the video though
Ah shoot i just realized mine has a crack in the black piece right behind the drip tray, going toward the bottom. It seems to work ok but i worry if i try to take it apart fully that cracked piece will come apart. I am going to contact the manufacturer and see if they have replacement parts but my hopes are not high. I guess it must have happened when i put the device down maybe i sort of slammed it down. Not sure how else it could have happened. Thanks again fir for the video. Btw how long had it been since you did the previous deep cleaning? I guess the dirt accumulation can depend on the environment and how often it is used. Thanks again

A couple months ago, I noticed water at base of my dehumidifier. There was ice building up on the bottom of the coil. The air filter was filthy, so I chalked it up to poor air circulation and cleaned the filter, but now, even with a clean filter, ice collects on the bottom of the coil, and very little water ends up in the tank. Do you think this is because the veins / coils are dirty inside, or do you think it might be a clogged coil drain going to the tank (causing water to "pile up" on the bottom coils)?
I have an issue with mine, dehumidifier is too slow to collect water, collects very little water. I opened it to inspect and saw the side of the front condenser which joins the copper tubes is too rusted. Odd thing is comparing it to the condenser adjacent to it, it's rust free. That's why the catch basin started to get dirty as the water collected has rusts after 2 years (which I didn't know it was rusting). Today it's almost 5 years since I bought this. So I'm just getting a new one instead of replacing one of the 2 condensers.
If there's a local business that does HVAC work near you (there should be unless you live in a very remote area or on top of a mountain... Lol), they should be able to help you or point you in the right direction. I wish you were close to me. I would LOVE to do it for you. I am in the NYC area...As a matter of fact, I did mine. A whole bunch of nasty goopy stuff. Now, it's 100% clean. Very happy...
Who has the tools or the ability to go through THAT much BS to maintain a dehumidifier? These types of sections should be designed for easier access that DON'T require a full disassembly.
Totally agree. Well you only need a screwdriver but aome of the compenents defonetly do not seem to be easy to take apart. I see potential for damaging some of the plastic components or possibly the electrical system. I am going to try just cleaning the air filter part and see if it helps with the funk.
I disassembled mine today and there was plenty of mould only after 2 years of use. You better wash it properly at least once a year otherwise you might end up reducing the humidity but sending the mold spores into your room
Help. Even though I told mine apart almost a year ago, I have the screws off the back and can’t get the back over the back vent to slide off. (Last time I forgot to reconnect the pump electrical.😕 That’s why I’m doing it again.)
Instead of blowing the dust all through your room, why not vacuum instead? Flicking it around with a wire brush is interesting, but wouldn't a vaccumme cleaner be more effective for that too?

For example when i am drying clothes i put them hanging up in a small bathroom a d close the door and put a towel under the door to seal it better. From my experience it works much better this way than in an open room with open doors
Tipping dehumidifiers over can cause permanent damage and void warranty. Refer to these articles online "Can I Lay a Dehumidifier Over?" and "Can You Lay a Dehumidifier on Its Side? All You Need to Know"
You can tip, flip and turn them all you want, provided they aren’t running. Just wait the specified time for the oil to settle. Don’t flip or turn them while running.

I bought one on Craigslist and never considered that it might have been used in a house with smokers. I put it in a bathroom to test it and when I returned 30 minutes later...ugh! The whole back of my house reeked of cigarettes. I'm trying to decide if it is worth trying to clean or not. Buyers beware!

And even if we are sitting on their balcony outside the smell reeks up my clothes and its like they are blowing smoke in my face, even when they do not intend to. So i just call them on the phone. Not that often though. My relatives are mostly jerks and liars tbh. They rarely ever help me when I ask for help with something. And at least one of them owes me a lot of money. Like a whole lot.
How did the reassembly go? I am pretty good with a screwdriver but I am worried I will damage the components somehow and make it inoperable. Mine needs a deep clean though. It funks up the room while in operation.
What an absolute travesty. These companies are harming people's health all while claiming to help fight mould caused by high humidity. Well guess what builds up on the condensing coil of a dehumidifier?! Condensate! And what grows in condensed water? Mould. A dehumidifier should have its coils easily accessible for cleaning. And consumers need to demand units that do so and not buy units that don't. I'm gonna stick to building a diy unit that has its coils accessible.

They make a brush designed for this so you don’t mangle the fins.

Yes, in normal circumstances you're right. But in this case he has a powerful blower that reaches deeper and puts more pressure than a vacuum cleaner.

There is no way a thick bristled nylon brush is more useful than a wire brush here.
