I love the MC-101...it really comes in to its own when taken outside of genres. With the FW1.80+ installed it really is a deep machine, the learning curve isn't too bad, but, the manual ( while fragmented ) is required to get the most out of it. When exploring the partials sound design you have to watch out for the note stealing though.
The garage track is bangin
Thanks, theres an extended version of the garage section on my 20min live set video
Is this true:
The MC-101 also lacks some sound design features, such as a filter envelope, an LFO, and a modulation matrix. You can only edit the basic parameters of the sounds, such as the pitch, filter, amp, and effects.
No, you can now edit the tones with the partial tone settings
Not true. You can edit much more.
I believe you can edit sounds quite a lot in the partial tone menu, as they had added a whole synth engine with one of the updates.
I don’t think Ive explored this yet. Do you know what version its on?
@@n0ricemusic It was a while ago, so 1.6 or 1.7, current one is 1.82.
In the tone track, you press SHIFT + SOUND and look for PARTIAL menu.
Il have to update it and check that out! however i do think it would be even better if there was a software editor to make sounds on 🙌
@@n0ricemusic I believe there is one - Zen Core if I'm right. But it is a paid one, so I haven't looked at it.
roland unlocked zencore engine so you can build your own sound. long time ago or mayby same firmware.1.82. the zencore engine has 3000 sounds
How's the bass? Sub bass?
Any synth that can produce a sine wave should be capable of creating decent sub basses and this is no exception. The real benefit to this, is its huge range of classic roland synth emulations. Compared to something like the novation circuit, the sound engine in the mc-101 stands head and shoulders above it 👌
