My headstrong 3yo daughter was able to REPEATEDLY unbuckle her car seat during a tantrum. I pulled off the road and sat there, telling her we couldn’t go until she kept her seat buckled. We were at an impasse.
Luckily a Florida Highway Patrol officer stopped to check on us. She had a talk with my recalcitrant daughter, who finally agreed to keep her belt on. The officer even gave her a stuffed animal.
My daughter is grown now. Funny family story rather than a horrible highway tragedy.
What doctor travels to an emergency with their wife and child in the car? Sorry, not buying it.

Maybe he was on the way and then recieve the call for the emergency
Anyone needing medical care, would be wise to avoid the doctor who drove at 101 mph,
with his child unrestrained in the back seat. His excuses were disgraceful. A total lack of integrity.

So the wife took the child out of the car seat because she was "a bit sick." Well, Doctor, the child could have ended up a damn sight sicker if you'd had an accident at that speed. Actually, you would probably have killed her.

Why doesn't the rego have a insurance component built into the cost? 3rd Party insurance is included on car registration in South Australia. When re registering the vehicle we just choose the insurance company and pay that with the rego.
Even easier in other Australian States.. the State government here in Tas, (and I think Vic) runs an Insurance Office that does the 3rd party automatically. Don't even have to choose
You have rego? Good you're insurance, and visa versa. All easily checked via plate recognition cameras that every cop car has.

Because the system here requires the *driver* to be insured which allows the premium to reduce for low risk drivers, rather than those low risk drivers subsidising teenage hooligans.
Your system lacks the financial incentive to build a discount for an accident free record.
Arguably the UK system is more just, & also permits monthly payments rather than disadvantaging the less well off by obliging them to fund the entire year at once, even if your system might be harder to evade.
@@beardyface8492 the insurance included with registration is only the barest minimum of coverage. it only covers injury to people in an accident. You get your own insurance to cover repairs etc on top of that.
You can pay the registration Quarterly if you wish.
@@katelights The minimum legally required cover here must also include damage to third party property, not just injury. Years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth & I started driving you only *legally* had to have cover for third party injuries, though that minimum level of cover was virtually impossible to get & carried an inflated premium (mostly only available to those with a terrible driving record such that the insurance wouldn't cover anything else, cover as is required now was cheaper anyway for most folks even then).
How old is this episode? I knew it was old, but the last section, they had brick phones and the police officer had a physical copy of the Yellow Pages!

Young Olivier is in cloud cuckoo land. He is French and in France you are required to carry ALL relevant documents with you at all times when in your car - official I/D, driving licence, valid insurance and proof of vehicle ownership (carte grise/V10 etc). Failure to do so results in an immediate fine before getting to any issue which may subsequently arise.
There seems to be a lot of "imported" problems here.

Anyone else spot the "safety camera" van on the bridge over the motorway? I bet that had a lot to do with causing the crash.
Not the camera vans fault if drivers are speeding.
@@RandyDarkshade2 Even those not speeding will often see the camera van, or as cop parked with a hand held radar, and back off or brake for no real reason.
it's an automatic reaction for some.
One of the reasons you only use a horn when really needed, otherwise people will panic and brake until they can find what the "warning" horn is sounding for.

I'll never understand why car maintenance skills (ie: changing a tyre) aren't mandatory to get a driving licence.
I didnt see them using speed gun so the doctor probably get off with the 101 speed
I'm not so sure about that. OK, it wasn't on radar, but then again, this wasn't filmed in 2024, either. Also, the camera footage shows that the police speedo was showing 101 or so, and that will help the prosecution. Add in the unrestrained child, and the court is not going to feel very lenient.

speed limit is 70 mph not 110 on the motorway.
110 kilometres per hour.. which is 70 mph or in other words... the same thing.
70mph is 112kph (similarly 30mph is 48kph)

Why does the police car tailgate so close to other traffic. That’s asking for trouble.
They do it to make themselves obvious in the mirror of the vehicle in front, that has somehow not seen and heard them with lights and sirens earlier.
They are well awere of the risks of doing so, but they still choose to do it when the vehicles arent moving over, and it is not just a thing in the UK it is also done in Denmark and likely other places too.

I don't think I have a lot of sympathy for backed up vehicles who wouldn't give way for emergency vehicles. I guess they can sit in their own stew and feel the frustration of the emergency drivers.
Here in RSA, the debre will be sweeped to the side of the road, and left there and there will remain a hole in the road.😮
I know! My dad has told me about a time there was a crash on a busy road near his house and the bloodied and destroyed car was left on the side of the road for weeks. What else would you expect unfortunately.

They aren't. Where there are no speed limits the Autobahn has higher percent death rate than the UK(and Denmark). Speed limited Autobahns are much safer.

The UK needs to build an elevated sky-road 25 - 40 feet above the ground high way just for lorries and other non passenger vehicles. I know it's easier said than done, but it's not gonna get better anytime soon!
