Wow, amazing tutorial! Learning 3D since Feb 2022 this year, and love it.. still have a lot of problems which feels like bugs.. And this one obv. saved some time.. hopefully more tuts come in the future. I subscribed!
Great tutorial, thank you! Is it also possible to let the sphere roll 'free' at the end of the pline, and let it further be controlled by dynamics only??
@@CGShortcuts Thanks, great tip, but it doesn't seem to work (at least not as i intended) with cloners. Instead of one sphere, i wanted a series of spheres to roll off the end of a plane. I used your tutorial as a perfect basis, but then i put the sphere in a linear cloner. I wanted all the spheres to roll off the table in a straigt line, one behind the other. If the Follow position value is too high, the spheres won't fall down at the end of the plane, but keep hovering in space. If the follow position is too low, not all spheres will reach the and of the plane. I also tried some effector like wind and attractors, but than you loose all control over the spheres' movement. I also tried slowly decreasing the follow position along the spline, but this also doesn't work as i hoped. I thought this was going to be an easy task, but it's driving me nuts :-)
Is there a way to have an irregular shaped object (eg a coin) keep its rotation when doing this? Any time I try it will fall over and look silly being forced along the path
Hey mate, as it's a bit hard to give you a good answer here in the comments, any chance you could post your question on our Facebook Group and one of our community members can give you a hand;) If you could post some screenshots of your issue too that would be super helpful! Tried doing this on r25 following step by step and still had "drag" when the ball was trying to move along the spline. I added force and friction but the ball will just stay stuck with friction at 100. If I lower the friction to like 60 the ball will move but real jerky. Any clue why it's doing this? As a side note, I appreciate all the work y'all put into these videos. Thank you for sharing the knowledge
Hello! Tell me, please, why does the ball stick out of the Road and roll on the invisible surface of the road? That is, the ball is not inside the Road
If you have R26 the Rigid and collider body dynamics are still there, they are just under the Bullet dynamics section. :)
👍

Cheers mate! Glad it helped ;)
This is such a great tutorial! Thanks for sharing it!
No problem CHRISTIAN, hope it helps you out mate!
Amazing tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
You're very welcome!

Yep, decrease Follow Position and Rotation values to have dynamics take over

Great tutorial. How did you achieve the beveled cutout along the spline?
A sweep along the spline and then a Boole with a box for the ground.

You might be better off using the method discussed in this video: cgshortcuts.com/roll-objects-in-c4d/
I don't get it, as soon as i put collider and rigid body everything freeze, my ball stop following my spline, any idea what could be wrong ?

Awesome tutorial. The link to the project file is broken :(
Cheers, Link fixed now;)
Can these moving objects collide with eachother and still follow their spline paths?
yep, you might need to keyframe the follow position though

Have you tried adding more geometry to your ball or ground to see if that helps?
I'll have to try that. Thank you
@@effectatron in project settings (STRG+D) under dynamics -> expert increasing the steps per frame solved the issue for me

you might need to change the collision shape in the rigid boy or collider tag so it evaluates the geometry correctly
How do you make the spline coutout?
A sweep along the spline and then a Boole with a box for the ground.

your man has kidnapped Dave and taken over his yt channel
Daves still around somewhere, taking a little break;)
can i make it on r19 version?
I believe so. It's been awhile since I've use R19 but if they have dynamics, which I'm 99.9% sure it did then yes. Let me know.
@@effectatron it works
Sweet!
Where is David?
I'm here, been a busy year! Planning to hit youtube hard again in the coming months;)
