Great find on the brakes, finding good parts at discount really helps with the build. I recently updated the bars to e*thirteen’s Race 35 carbon bars, with a higher rise to lighten up the front end.. I’m looking to upgrade the fork on my Blue Pig, definitely looking at high end RockShox. Thanks for watching.
@@HamboMTB Bro I got lucky on the whole build Only thing I paid full price for is the Oval and my inserts lol I went for comfort over weight to be honest the Viber core bars cut vibration and the inserts dampen as well It’s cause by my pad I have one of SoCals longest single tracks 7 miles of climbs for 7 miles of non stop DH The Mmmbop is sooooo goood on fast flow and even forgiving on 2 mile section of rock gardens I almost got the big Al to be honest 65 HA bikes are more all around comfy and fun to ride even on the street . The Bop doesn’t make me want to take it on a long street cruise lol Keep build bad ass bikes man !
Also running Wolftooth bling kit 😉. We have some of the same taste for sure. Putting the cane creek helm air on the 2022 marley when I can get it! The steel version of the Marley is the piglet right?
Yes the Piglet is to the Marley what the Mmmbop is to the BluePig. If you have a chance test ride a steel frame, they are supple, sturdy & so comfortable. Either frame is going to be great, both have pros & cons as well. You can’t go wrong with the HELM, that fork is awesome, Im actually looking for one for my new upcoming build.
@@HamboMTB yesir! I'm gunna try steel next, ride the aluminum for a cpl. Years or whatever ends up happening. I talked to ragley yesterday, they said they should have full 2022 builds within the next few months and to watch chain reactions site. So I just got on the email in stock list. Thinking I'm gunna buy the 1.0 than upgrade as I go I can use the stock parts on another build:)
Awesome bike👍 The mmmbop is definitely on my next to do list. seriously considering a mullet setup with a 140-150mm travel 29er fork up front though😏..
Mullet setup 🤔 definitely would be interesting, the frame is great & lends itself for that setup! Wish I could fit a 29 on the HELM, thanks for watching.
@@emtbwulf9215 i think if going the mullet route, 140mm would be the max due to the head angle already being 63.75° unless the intended use is for downhill cause going uphill will be VERY hard. Plus it will increase the BB height. Tried it on my friends mmmbop and immediately changed back to plus tires instead, 2.8 front and 2.6 rear.
Hi I've just bought a 2019 Mmmbop frame. I want to just switch over the 2019 forks and wheels from my full suss onto it. I use 29 x 2.6. I know this won't fit on the rear of an XL Mmmbop but I think I read on one of your other videos that you'd fit a 29 x 2.3 or 2.4. Do you think I'd have to fit a low profile tyre like a Maxxis ikon or Bontrager XR2 to enable it to fit? Many thanks
You might be able to get away with that, but clearance will be an issue. When I ran the 29x2.3 branches, rocks & other debris got caught between the frame & the tire. If you have the tire handy try it out, that’s what I did. If not visit your local bike shop, most are friendly and will let you try on a wheel/tire setup. With Maxxis DHR 2.3 it’s a very tight fit, but then again it’s a very chunky tire.
I’m 6’1… I feel very comfortable on my Large Mmmbop & extremely confident. If it feels a bit short on you; nothing a longer stem & a good set of handlebars can’t fix. You will be fine with a large, it’s a great frame… thanks for watching.
It is always better to buy a built bike instead of building it. Yes you can source good parts at decent prices, but will never be able to match a factory spec for the money. My Mmmbop came just a bit over $4,000, I refer it as a budget hardtail because the frame is very inexpensive & it was one of the most economical parts of the build. The frame was only $290, every other component was merely personal choice. The only advantage is that I bought the parts in a 12 month span, so if you have time and do your research you can build an amazing hardtail for under $1600.
Congratulations it’s a great MTB. Even though the Mmmbop is an aggressive enduro hardtail, it’s very comfortable pedaling around flats. Your gearing & the tire choice (rolling resistance) will determine the overall performance on flats. A fast rolling rear tire makes a world of difference on flats, and high gearing with the right chainring will give you great pedaling speed. Thanks for watching & happy riding on the Mmmbop...
Hi, frame sizing is very subjective & varies vastly based on personal riding preferences. I'm 6'1 & based on my measurements most sites recommend a medium/large, but I find myself more at home on a frame with longer reach regardless of frame size. My large Mmmbop feels great, I could ride it all day long, but I feel way more confident on my XL BluePig. I don't mean to confuse you, but look at reach/stack numbers on the Ragley website & compare them to a bike you currently own. Or visit your local bike shop & test ride one of their hardtails, note the make and model then research the numbers online & compare them to the Mmmbop. Sorry I can't give you a straight answer, but sizing goes a bit further than height. Thank you for watching & I wish I had simpler answer for you.
Completely understand, I sold my FS after a week in my Bluepig (the steel equivalent of the Mmmbop). The Mmmbop is superb, great for budget build or an crazy no budget build. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate the feedback!
It was not an economical build by any means (for a hardtail) total build was around $4,000 give or take. It was by choice though, you can build this frame up really good with other components. It’s an awesome hardtail! Thanks for watching...

How tall are you? Im 6’2” and a Large was the only size in stock and I was desperate so I bought it quick. Think it’ll be too small for me?
