    When I was 5 I woke up to a daddy long legs crawling on my face. I screamed so loud in the middle of the night.

    So, in summary, we have three long-legged friends.

    Daddy Long Legs - The Harvestmen
    Spider Long Legs - The Spider

    I have a pet cellar spider, I named him Pops, he moved into my cupboard, I fed him once and he’s been there ever since, I feed him ants.

    Opiliones seem to make me feel uncomfortable, especially for they’re abnormally long legs, which started my Arachnophobia at the age of 5 when an Opiliones Daddy Long Legs hopped on my left arm. Still this is interesting

    I've only ever thought of daddy long legs as pholcidae. Being Australian (Victoria), the other two are probably much less common

    • @TalesofDiscovery
      @TalesofDiscovery  3 года назад +2

      That is very much similar to my experience. Cellar spiders were much more common in the very urbanised environment that I lived in, and for years the suggestion that anything other than pholcidae were daddy long legs would have surprised me.

    Thank you for this great video, I come back for the calm narration and lovely animation. If you find the time, could you maybe do a video on afrotheria?

    I was taught that a real daddy longlegs ia a crustacean related to crabs and lobsters and is not a spider at all

    • @TalesofDiscovery
      @TalesofDiscovery  2 года назад +1

      I'm not entirely sure of what creature that could be referencing, but depending on your preference for cladistic versus traditional taxonomy, one could argue that one of the daddy long legs (crane fly) could be considered a crustacean👍

    This video had the potential to be way way better. THis is about a 5yr olds review. I learned nothing beyond the most rudimentary facts, story's & word-0-mouth intelligence brief. What do they eat ? What is their kill zone, their nemesis ? How do you eliminate them before getting overrun by them ?? Stuff kind-a like that.........started out so well and just circled around into the toilet for me. But thanks man
    What about their bite ? What is their life cycle ? I cleaned my garage and within a week they had completed a FOB, several ! THey seem to have returned in force....all ages from big to babys have overrun my perimeter and are just freaking EVERYWHERE ahhhhhhhhhghhh-hughg-g-g-g-g-g/;^)
