    Targeting calls are perhaps the worst called penalties in the game. That Louisville Ole Miss game is exactly that. If a runner ducks his head, there's not much the defender can do about helmet to helmet contact.

    • @martinmccormick2166
      @martinmccormick2166 Год назад +1

      @maekklyn Facemask to helmet contact was also considered targeting as well esp in the first years of the Targeting call epidemic. It's a pointless penalty, considereing that spearing is already illegal in football. How come they never call the runner for targeting when they lower their head and body to keep the defender from squaring up into the tackle? All this call does currently is create an unfair advantage for the runner/ball carrier.

    IDK the Auburn/SC game that did look like it touched the player cause he wasn't looking at the ball then after the touch/no touch he immediately threw his hands up and looked directly where the ball was. Maybe just coincidence but I think he knew it touched him.

      @RebelEdits Год назад +2

      There was a whistle that the refs didnt acknowledge (or didnt hear). The rule is once he was wrapped up and forward momentum was gone the play was dead but since they didnt hear the whistle they let him keep running. (Notice the TN defense even hesitating to grab the ball)

    • @carlwinslo
      @carlwinslo Год назад +4

      People trying to defend it saying the whistle was blown are full of sh!t. The Vols blew up the play action, sacked the qb and stripped the ball but the refs got a call from Vegas and were told to make some BS up to take the points off the board. Ole Miss was also constantly faking injuries in this game to slow down the hurry up offense. Anytime the vols would get momentum on a drive one of the Ole Miss players would magically just collapse to the ground and then once the defense caught its breath and made substitutions the injured player would just pop right up and walk to the sideline. Lane Kiffin and those refs are lucky they got out of Neyland alive.

    There was that national championship game between Ohio State and Miami some time in the early 2000's. The game came down to a final play. The Hurricanes defense held strong and knocked down the pass to win the championship. It was a clean play. Seconds later a yellow flag shows up. The commentators were shocked. Pass interference. Half the distance and a replay. This time the Buckeyes got it in the end zone. They win the title instead of Miami.

    If a team gets 3 targeting ejections in one game it should count as a forfeit. Jeez, dont do it.

    i get that it's dumb to watch but those just looked like 4 legitimate targeting calls in one game. that's not bad calls, that's just bad football

    That first clip, unless he yelled something (which seems unlikely with his mouthguard in), what did he do? There was nothing there. That looks like point shaving / game fixing, plain and simple.

    Rules are rules for a reason, the taunting play is clear, all of the targeting in Ole Miss and Louisville are very clear. Sure their are some calls that are maybe or or maybe not. Coaches in NCAA have a unique ability to determine and vote on rules. So if they don’t like it, don’t bitch to the officials. Advocate for change.

    8th grade championship in vermont. 3 or 4 touchdowns brought back for holding. After the first the opposing coach was arguing in our favor. The refs couldn't even name the number of the player holding. they were both northern vermont refs in a game barre vs lyndon Lyndon being in the north barre in central.
