You found a beautiful buffet, I’m jealous. Happy to see someone that enjoys fine furniture. They just don’t make them like that anymore. I’ve never seen anyone do the sides of the drawers, what’s not to like about a surprising pop of color.
I think Martha Stewart did a version of the paper on the outside of the drawers. That is a good point about the drawers scraping on the sides. Mine do not seem to touch the sides when they slide but I guess one would have to check that before adding the paper there. You could use a really thin tissue paper or even just paint the sides with a pop of color. :)
Good question! While it is similar to a dresser that would be in the bedroom, this piece is traditionally made for storing dishes, table linens and is used for serving meals. Also called a "buffet" or "sideboard".

I've never before seen paper put on the outside of drawers. I'd be afraid that the drawers would hang up on it!
