    You are my favourite by an absolute mile. You don’t talk. It’s about the furniture not you. Your skill levels are at master craftsmen level. You don’t alter or amend, you restore using traditional techniques but with modern machinery. Well done. I love watching your films.

    This is the difference between a furniture restorer and a furniture flipper. True restorer, a wood working artist. Thank you for saving this gorgeous piece from a flipper who would have painted the whole thing. Your restoration of this wardrobe was amazing, your skills are amazing. This piece is restored and it is stunning. ❤️

    • @GiniaChristina
      @GiniaChristina 2 месяца назад +1

      Yes a flipper turns a piece of furniture into something else (usually) kind of like repurpose…a restorer is much more skilled at what they do and actually care about the furniture no matter how damaged it is…that’s what I love about Ahti…he’s a master at what he does and the furniture can now stand the test of time and age again gracefully!!!!

Every time I watch one of these videos, I'm struck by how much work is involved, and how much knowledge you have to have in so many areas to fix everything! What a profession you have to be proud 👏 of, while perserving history one piece at a time!

      A 100 year old piece of furniture in Estonia has survived the takeover of the country by the Soviet Union, then the brutality of WWII, both the Nazi invasion and the Soviet counter invasion, then decades of Soviet occupation, then independence.
      There was a lot to survive. These pieces survived when oftentimes people did not, so may be in some cases a link to such people. That Estonia is now a prosperous place means some people now have the money to commission such restorations.

    I wanted to tell you how much I love your videos! My grandfather big old Swede . He was the best finishing carpenter I’ve ever seen worked early 1900 as a finishing carpenter in luxury ships like Titanic! He was only 17 then. I spent many hours in his shop with him! You are as conscientious as he was about every piece of wood placement would treatment of wood, so it perfectly matched! This is like a walk down memory lane for me at 71. My grandpa‘s been gone a while now.! I’ve been looking for somebody like you near me to help me build a cabinet for my jewelry that I make is an artist and so of course nobody thinks they can do it, but I bet you could too bad you live so far away! Thank you for bringing me joy. By watching you sometimes I feel like I’m watching him.!

Most people working in your “timeframe” - that is, vintage that is just reaching the antique stage - don’t seem to respect the items they are working on. They change, or cheat, or replace because it’s easier. You provide a master class in why they shouldn’t do it at all! 💕🇨🇦

    Oh, it's SUCH a joy to see someone do restorationsn the absolute RIGHT way! My father did this with furniture, fine musical instruments, but mostly with antique pianos, inside and out. Thank you for sharing!

    It never ceases to amaze me how much care you give each & every detail! I'm also amazed at how much shellac this old wood absorbs!

    Nice to see old furniture is getting a second life. I like old stuff. Rusty with a nice patina. Always leave things as they are. Found a lot of stuff at scrapyards. Once I came across 2 Industrial Philips Lamps from 1950. Saw them on the trailer of someone at the scrapyard, gave him 25 eu and now they're hanging at the kitchen table at my sons house. In Amerika the sold them for $600 a piece hahaha.
    Keep up the good work. Then again good tools saves a lot of time and you have them ...
