Those old draglines are for sure a lost art, had a guy I worked with one time tell me how my great uncle could damn near make a finish grade with one, too bad I couldn't witness it. If anything it's gotta be fun messing around with it while getting something accomplished.
amazing how fast the drag line started after sitting for months. great job digging in the pond. that is neat that the migratory fowl carried the fish eggs to your pond. good luck digging it to the size and depth that you need. happy fathers day to your family! say hi to your dad , barry
That's a sweet little drag line you got there, Brandon. I lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from '77-2005 and there were two LBS plants there at one time. I worked costruction and the contractor I worked for did a lot of work at LBS and I think they built that exact model you have there. Those plants were cool. But they shut down and moved down south where wages and taxes were lower and prolly didn't have to put up with the unions of the north.
Your beard looks great along with muscle shirt, you look like teen ager now 😂 Happy Father's day to you all, btw always enjoy your videos, repair, farming and operating equipment...keep up the great work.
Awesome machine. I think everyone important on RUclips has one, but that Link-Belt is SAWEET. By the way I noticed all the mud on the ground where you'd taken a few scoops prior to turning on the camera or edited out the first 10-15 scoops. 😅😂😅 I wouldn't have a clue how to operate one. But maybe sometime I'll take a drive up your way. Your only about an hour 15 away. Great episode!! 👍🏾
Alot of guys just have these for hobby now and to say they have them this one actually earns its keep when the times come it's done alot of river work and alot of digging on a wetlands restoration project that we did all prior to my RUclips channel I should have probably started this all back 10 years ago and I would actually be a important RUclipsr lol....I actually wasn't even going to video any digging but I realized I had some time and I figured why not to so went and set the camera up after I got the brakes shined back up....they aren't hard to run its hard to run them good and smooth yeah you might just have to come visit some day....thank you!
Hi Brandon, I really enjoy all the adventures you guys get into, but I believe the repair ones are my favorite (mostly because I have zero mechanical aptitude lol). It just amazes me that you guys seem to be able to tear into anything and get it going. I do have a dilemma - I am the fiscal officer for a small township in south central Ohio - the township owns a late 70’s or early 80’s Galion road grader - all the cylinders were rebuilt last year, low engine hours, always stored inside - it seems to be in really good shape except for an oil pan gasket (it’s completely trash and it’s a really odd shaped, just really weird gasket). We can’t find a new gasket - it’s a Detroit 8.2 motor and apparently parts are hard to come by for those motors. We’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions from you and/or any of your followers. Thanks, Steve
Hey Steve thank you for watching I appreciate the kind words!.....that 8.2 Detroit you have would that be a V8 Detroit? There are some options that would work #1 is get gasket material and make a gasket it's alot of cutting and time consuming but can be done with a little patience or #2 there is a very good sealant used to glue the oil pans on international engine I've used it in ford trucks on the 7.3 liter Powerstroke diesels you can probably easily get it through your local Ford dealer you clean your pan and block surfaces really good apply the sealant around the pan and bolt it on you have to be fairly quick with it it sets up fairly quick but I bet it will work....I also know a place Disinger truck parts here in Indiana Kevin is very good at finding the old odd ball Detroit stuff his number is 219-567-9449 and he could direct ship to you you will need a engine serial number
@@dirtgrainsteel I should have said hydraulic cylinders, realized that may have been confusing - I passed on the info to the trustees. Thanks for the reply and I'll let you know how things go.
@@dirtgrainsteel Hey Brandon, one of the trustees called Disinger, they had the part in inventory per the computer but it wasn't on the shelf so we struck out on that one. Previously, they found one at another shop in Indiana but it had set on the shelf so long that it had dry rotted - kinda turned into dust. The gasket isn't entirely flat - it has a couple of vertical curves in it so making one out of gasket material would be very difficult. The debate now is whether to try the sealer route or find another motor (there are options that are easier to get parts for). The motor is out of the grader currently so it seems going the sealer route is a good idea but we would have to put the motor back in to find out if it worked - so that's the debate take a chance on the sealer or just go ahead get another motor. Again, thanks for the help - hey, ain't it about time for a new video lol!
Well clamshell buckets really aren't the bucket of choice for digging ponds and I've never actually dug with one I had one but never used it....I could run a 1-1/2 yard bucket on this crane easily it's got a 1 yard on it now when I have all 80feet of boom in it 1 yard is plenty out there
I can remember as a young lad watching a guy in my area running a drag line. I love watching him work
That starter is really sweet. Spun the old girl over quickly.
Yes it is!! I think I'm going to maybe order one of them starts for L2 #1
Happy Father’s Day to y’all as well!

Great video. That ‘ole Link Belt sounds & starts great! If you have a beard for long enough, mishaps will happen👍

the size and depth that you need. happy fathers day to your family! say hi to your dad , barry
Yeah it starts very easy but that engine was a fairly fresh over hauled engine before it went in the crane

That sure runs good thanks for sharing hope you have a great Father’s Day
Yes it runs really good it was actually a fairly fresh over hauled engine before it went in the crane...thank you!
That thing is too cool 👍🏻
That old motor run really well, the new starter is a big success. 👍
Thats cool to see that and that old cran is still working to keep it's home lol well to bad you don't need help looking for some work to do for now
Your beard looks great along with muscle shirt, you look like teen ager now 😂

Great job great video thanks Brandon
Thanks for watching!
My highlight : man with muscleshirt accidently shortens his beard and then looks like a 10 years old boy 🙈
🤣🤣🤣
👌🤘🤘
You can take your starter to Rifes there on HWY 35 N in Winamac and they can rebuild it for you good as new.
I need to get the one on my Gleaner fixed next I need it to cut wheat
Thank you.

Brandon compared to me you are a young young fellow. I've heard some water birds will eat fish eggs at one pond fly to an other pond and pass them.
I haven't heard that before that's interesting!
Could you get a larger clamshell for it?
Well clamshell buckets really aren't the bucket of choice for digging ponds and I've never actually dug with one I had one but never used it....I could run a 1-1/2 yard bucket on this crane easily it's got a 1 yard on it now when I have all 80feet of boom in it 1 yard is plenty out there
I can remember watching a guy in my area r
The wind stopped blowing in California and overloaded the electric grid.
Probably
You look better! More professional.😊
Thank you!
WHY don't you do a video of your tractor\lowboy that you haul your excavation equipment with ?
There's some videos of it somewhere I don't have anything fancy
If trimming your beard shorter is all it takes to make you look 10 years old Id shave it all off!!
