All these years and you are still helping us powerstroke guys fix our trucks through the videos that you made. Rest In Peace Ron, you were and still are the best!
I about to buy my first 04 6.0 Powerstroke and I’m watching all his videos. What a great teacher for us mechanical minded humans. He’s got a way of passing details perfectly
Rest in peace Ron. His legacy lives on in all of us folks who watch the videos and follow his directions. I just changed out the water pump on my 2007 F350 6.0 liter. Without Ron's video, it would have been a lot more difficult than it was.
Thx Ron, this video helped me upgrade/mod my 2006 F250 XLT 6.0 to the 1997 Powerstroke mechanical fan clutch. Way better temps now under load. You are missed my friend, and you continue to help people even though you are gone from this world, but your legacy remains. To your family…….thank you for keeping Ron’s channel up, he continues to help me all the time with my truck, I refer to Ron’s videos all the time. RIP brother.
Sorry to hear we lost the internet's best Ford diesel tech RON on May 16, 2016, who was an ambassador for us wanna be diesel owners whoo wanted to work on our own motors and used Ron's videos to assist us! You will be missed! R.I.P
Yesterday I went to the junkyard and bought a used bullet proof clutch fan and radiator. The dude told me good luck. Had it taken apart and out in 30 minutes. Needless to say they were impressed. I told them I thank Diesel Tech Ron that he is awesome and God bless his family. Thank you Ron.
First and foremost, Thank You! Ron will forever be missed. I would like to say thank you to his wife, children and the rest of his family. He has provided countless hours of his own Master Technician Skills for the entire world to learn from, and to continue to spread Ron's joy of working on Diesel Trucks acrossed the globe!!! He is a brilliant man, and teacher for having the patience of spreading his knowledge to the rest of us who watch his videos in awe of his ability. He has saved millions of folks countless dollars with his videos that he provided while he was on this earth!!! I am very grateful to him and his wife who also has been on videos assisting him via video recording and just be a kind and thoughtful giving time to others. He was like a father, (I) feel to those of us that needed the extra guidance and help. To his wife who continues to allow the rest of us to watch and learn from his videos.... thank you and i wish your family all the peace in the world. 🙏🏾🙌🏾 thank you
Sad to find out Ron passed away last year. I have watched so many of Ron's videos! This video saved me some serious time and agony. I don't have shop air tools, and I could not get the correct size thin wrench for the fan clutch nut, I read online that some guys have used monkey/pipe wrenches, FYI, this method works great!!! If you don't have air tools use a monkey/pipe wrench! The nut I have read hundreds of people struggling with came right off! Don't forget to put threadlock on it when you put it back on. I hope Ron's family knows his videos and tips have helped literally thousands of people work on their trucks and save tons of money! Thanks so much Ron!
I just learned of this loss , what a shame , Ron was a class act extremely knowledgeable and willing to share is knowledge with any one in a very clear and informative manner you will surely be missed ,RIP Frank T
Thank you Diesel Ron. Finally upgraded to the Bulletproof waterpump today. Watched your step by step video while pausing at key points along the way. When I was done I had to ask myself why in the world did I wait so long to do this. I sincerely appreciate the content you add here. Thank you kindly. God Bless!
If I have a problem with my truck I always refer to his videos for help or just make sure I’m doing it right, if he was still alive I’d do what I could to get him to work on my truck so I know it was done correctly, rest in piece my friend, Powerstroke owners sure lost a good friend and mechanic, ur still alive with all your videos and still helping all of us with our trucks
As always I appreciate your time and effort towards us simple minded 6.0 owner's. ;-) I took a chance on this rig after watching 90% of your vids. Once again big thanks Ron!!! The world is rapidly losing people like you!
@@kevie88 I don't know about wsp000, but I have had my '06 for going on 10 years and I love it. As with any aging vehicle, it does require some maintenance from time to time and sometimes it is extensive and expensive, but it's paid for and runs stronger than most F250's on the road.
Just replaced my fan çlutch...getting the shroud ring up off the fan is the hardest part when trying to thread the fan assembly back on.. My AC is cool now...the engine runs cooler..happy days
Thank you for all of the videos you post for these 6.0s I've used them to get some insight or what to look forward to when working on my 2005 6.0, I've owned the truck for 4 yrs and it's just now asking for some TLC lol. right now my dang fan is starting to come on all the time when I'm stopped at a light and I hope my oil cooler isn't gumming up but I'm going to replace the pump and thermostat anyway for grins. not loosing any coolant so that's a good thing. Thanks for the videos Ron.
I lost my dad in 1997. Even today I'll need an odd bolt or nut and find it an old organizer of his full of such things. He removed bolts, washers and nuts before discarding spent parts. It's kind of neat how even today he helps me. That's how I see Ron. He is not only helping those of us who are making our own truck repairs, but it's cool that he is still able to support his family through the ad revenue from these videos and the Go Fund Me account that is still active. You can help them at this link: www.gofundme.com/f/2464axqr
If you've done any repairs to the 6.0 that required removing the coolant you may just have air in the cooling system. Make sure you turn the heat on and take the cap off the degas bottle to purge any air in the system after you have fill it with coolant. Sometimes it takes several times of replacing and taking off the coolant cap to purge all the air out (you see it bubble in the degas bottle from the bottom where hose attaches). Try this before you spend thousands. Also make sure you don't have any small coolant leaks in the radiator or a leaking or bad water pump. Also make sure the fan clutch is operating properly before making any costly repairs. Replacing the radiator, water pump and fan clutched fixed my problem with the coolant leaking out of the degas cap. I was told I had blown head gasket even though I already have ARP head studs and replaced head gasket when studs were installed. Beware of BOGUS mechanics and repairs shops. ( The infamous Ford Stealer Ship) Coolant kit which includes the water pump and fan clutch are about $300.00 at Auto Zone. Life time warranty Radiator also about $300.00. Life time warranty Total for both was about $600.00 and only took about 6 hrs. Hope this will help someone... Over and out :-)
Love your videos. I have a leak of coolant, I think, dripping on the power steering pump and then on the steering parts. Don't know if it is the water pump or the hose. This gives me confidence to go after it myself. And another leak of coolant by the starter and bell housing. I just replaced the blue hose with an OEM Ford one and it is not leaking. To many leaks!
I have been using the air chisel method myself to remove the fan clutch on diesel and gas engines. Never had a problem until the last one. In a rush I got too close to the pulley with the chisel and damaged it enough that the clutch would not unscrew. I had no other choice but to replace it. So be careful guys.
I show and explain a six inch extension, 15 shallow socket, 15 shallow socket on the bottom. Use a back up wrench, possible 4-5 bolts depending on the year. Disconnect the hose support and lift it as a whole. Don't use a bolt on the top stud, if it's broke start the boots first. What more could I have explained? Or are you kidding because I over did it
DieselTechRon no I wasn't trying to be an ass. I just couldn't see what you were getting at when you were under the truck is all. It was pretty dark. But I love your vids they are a big reason why I decide to tackle a lot of this stuff myself
I see 1-2 a year broke. That's not bad considering I work on 3-5 a day and I'm in the desert where it's 110-120 for 2-3 months straight and we are on the highway where the average speed is over 70mph. We get the ambulances with over 300,000 all the time on the oe waterpump and thermostat.
Hey Ron was wondering if you could answer a question? I have an 05 F550. Just put in the new water pump from BPD. But I have developed a coolant leak some where above the power steering pump as it is leaking off of it. Doesn't look like Degass bottle or upper hose or Thermostat housing is leaking on top. Any ideas? Its hard to see down there from top of engine with all crap in the way like the air box.
There are many reasons why i subscribed to your channel but one in particular is the fact that i see you use the Milwaukee ratchets. So i thought to myself if it's good enough for Master Ron and good enough to use on diesels, so I bought the 1/4" and I love it, I loved it so much I bought the 3/8". I was wondering your opinion of the ratchets? I've only had mine a few weeks. Great Videos, Thanks for making them.
What is your opinion on not re-installing the fan stator? Been some debate on the forums about the effectiveness of the stator and some leave it off for better accessories access.
I've never driven one long enough to say for sure. There's a company in our town that removes them for access to install a belt driven compressor. They claim it's better but I would expect them to say that. We don't get them in running hot. If I see some this summer I'll check them. I would like to test at least three
What should my average water temp be on a hot summer day in Arizona thanks you Ron you're the man I thought I was a great tech before but ever since I've seen some of your videos goddamn keep up the wonderful work
Very helpful video! I'll be swapping my thermostat before summer and will likely swap the water pump. Where do you get the bulletproof one shown in the video? Thanks!

There are many reasons why i subscribed to your channel but one in particular is the fact that i see you use the Milwaukee ratchets. anyone know the air chisel bits name he used? the ones I've seen so far online don't look like he same coupler as on the impact hammer bits.
Does the 6.4L have the same threads for removing the fan clutch. I'm trying "Lefty Lucy", but I'm wondering if it's reversed threads on a 6.4L. I'd really appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks.
Scott Reid hey bro I have the same problem I was wondering how you took it off left or right
it is opposite threads. Turn right to loosen. I took a long flat head bar and whacked it with a 2lb hammer. Came right off no problem
thank you

You should or use filtered water ford says is acceptable. I show that in the flush video
