I love how many of the logical fallacies in this movie she was able to pick up on her first watch. I was totally blinded by nostalgia the first time I saw it.

NateW71 mentioned that Phasma was Brienne from Game of Thrones, but you would know her as Lucifer from Sandman. She was also the headmistress in Wednesday.
I loved seeing this movie in the theatre. It took me right back to watching the original trilogy when they came out. Yes, I understand people's complaints, but I don't take Star Wars all that seriously so I just had fun with it. And all of the new movies had parts that were very pretty to look at.
There were a couple of ships for Finn.... Rey was one, but notice that's not whose jacket he was wearing...
Hi Nia!😊 Harrison Ford had asked George Lucas to kill off the character of Hans Solo by the end of the original trilogy. Lucas declined saying this was a family film, and killing off his character would be too sad for the audience. I think with this film Harrison Ford got his wish. Harrison Ford wanted to be killed off at the end of the empire strikes back so he never was going to want to do another 3 when he struggled to do the first 3 he was contracted for. Came back for the payday and to finally kill the character off. Great reaction BTW, these movies are not as bad as many say, but certainly not as good as any fans hoped.
The next two is the worse one's
Unlike Hamill and Fisher, Ford wasn't contracted for three movies but two. While his return wasn't certain, he did return but really didn't have much to do in ROTJ and I can understand why he wanted Han to be killed off.

Just saying: The amount work Dave Filoni has done in Star Wars TV series (Rebels, Bad Patch, Ahsoka etc) to fix plot holes, clarify and trying to make sense this trilogy and its background mechanic's and workings leading to this trilogy, is darn God tier effort. It's darn shame considering Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley are good actors. The immense potential was there but the script is mess. its just amazing how they can have so many re-writes of scripts in this trilogy has and how not Star Wars this feels. Its like existing Star Wars media studies wasn't required for people making scripts and changes.

So you have to look at this from Chewie's perspective. We've heard a lot about Wookies and the Life Debt, but given how much longer they live than humans, his relationship with Han was more like someone who ran across a stray dog that got him out of a bad situation and then adopted him. Then his adopted human gets killed by his human's kid. The moral? Spay and neuter your pets, they'll live longer.
that would be a good argument if stray dogs typically got humans out of bad situations but in reality it's usually humans that get dogs out of bad situations like you know...han did for chewie.

I think Chewie should have stayed with Leia, taking care of his lifebonded companion's mate. Instead JJ sends him with Rey - who got a hug from Leia, who she's never met, that Chewie should have gotten...
Leia didn't need anyone to take care of her. Maybe you didn't notice, there was a war going on! Leia wouldn't have stood for it. She is STOIC.

Part of the disdain among the fans for this movie was how it overwhelmingly seemed to want to pack in the "original trilogy" elements in, that Rey was so powerful with the Force without even a brief mentor, the context that so many questions raised are so blatantly obvious, and there are other issues, but I'm tired and can't bring them up right now.

Fans poopooing the disney star wars over the others may be right. But honestly, none of the star wars movies are good. By that I mean they are fantastic toy commercials. It gives enough story so you want to play with the toys. But as cinematic narratives, they are average at best. I used to be a fan in the 80's and 90's, mainly because of the great design and adventure. Episodes 1, 2 and 3 were a letdown and gave me a reality check that they were not made for me.
😂😂 great to see your reaction, when you figured out Kylo Ren’s parents. Good to see you continue watching this franchise. Although they’re like the Creed trilogy’s, just remakes of the first three films just new characters. They’re still good stories and are entertaining.
While this movie was fun to see in theaters, and exciting because there hadn't been a Star Wars movie with almost the full original cast in like 40 years - but there were several plot holes, and this movie is almost copy and pasted from Episode 4. (Desert planet where the main character is, a droid with important information needs to be returned to the good guys' base, an older mentor that gets killed by a former loved one, a big planet-destroying machine that involves a trench) But there were cool cameos and easter eggs too.
Harrison Ford wanted Han Solo to die in Episode 5 when he got put in carbonite, so his death here wasn't soon enough - but it certainly was a surprise.
Starkiller base is a reference to Luke Skywalkers original name, Luke Starkiller - and half a reference to the Force Unleashed games, where the main character goes by Starkiller, which the creators also took from Luke Starkiller.
The stormtrooper that Rey mind-tricked into releasing her was played by Daniel Craig.

The three Disney main series films are not rated well, and this is the best of them. Look forward to your reaction to the next two, maybe space out the disappointment.

i feel Rogue One was so well received because it is the only Disney era Star Wars film that wasn't trying to surpass or replace anything that came before it. the film had nothing to prove. it was its own thing and it did it well. this new Episodic trilogy tried to be better than instead of becoming a welcomed addition to the Star Wars mythology. and i don't really like that.
I don’t know if you already watched 8 or not, but these are some NON-SPOILER that you really need to comprehend them:
JJ Abrams had a vision for all three sequel SW movies, he was working towards a real goal.
Stupid Kathleen Kennedy took movie 8 AWAY from JJA, and for some godforsakenreason gave control of 8 to Rian Johnson.
RJ, it turns out, either hated JJA, or hated SW, or more likely hated BOTH. So in his rewriting 8 intentionally destroyed everything JJA had been writing towards. Hence the two films seem to be contradictory and even hostile towards each other.
THEN after fans HATED RJ’s version
So Much, KK brought JJA BACK for 9. . . In which he tried to undo everything RJ did plus tried to shove two films worth of story into 1 film.

Hopefully you can rank all star wars movie once you have watched them all.
It's so irritating, because this movie sets up really good bones for an ongoing story, in terms of delving into why Kylo fell out with his parents and Luke, in terms of developing Rey as a novice jedi, etc. It just didn't deliver in the following acts. Certain characters (and actors) get done DIRTY in the second and third films, relegated to the background when they should have been front and center. It is clear that the trilogy wasn't written as one story, but as three movies.
(Happy) Revenge of the 5th. To me Episodes 8 and 9 are alright, not the favorites but you will do fine.
I loved these movies to be honest. In regards to Anakin talking to Kylo, I think that generally that can only happen with people they actually knew and had that direct connection to?
It's not Han's death that made me hate the movie. It's the movie being the blatant copy of Ep4... and all that followed afterwards.

I disagree. The last 3 movies are a LOT more complex than the first 3. Re-watches of the newer movies explain the plot holes somewhat, at least enough for the casual fan to be satisfied. I think the problem is, when we were kids, it was easy to know all there was to know about Star Wars. Then came ESB, ROTJ, and we still followed the story. The prequels started were a lot of politics and backstory, which was still fairly easy to follow. The last 3, trying to wrap up the first 6, had their work cut out for them. In any case, I'm satisfied with how things "ended" and am looking forward to some new stories with new, even more interesting characters.
Spoiler Alert: The first thing Luke says to Rey is, "Did you find a hand with that? There was a hand wrapped around it, the last time I saw it."

Lotta problems stem from the writing. The First Order are a major power (somehow), Han and Leia are both back to OT status (smuggler, rebel leader), why is there a resistance but not a standing army of the Republic, Kylo is a petulant fanboy, Poe somehow survives being thrown clear of a crash from orbit 😵 gets past the FO ship over Jakku and gets back to the Resistance to lead the rescue (who called them)...
It also is the ONLY Star Wars movie that leaves no place for a time skip with the ending. It forces 8 to pick up with Rey standing 30ft from Luke and holding out a saber like a dork... but JJ had to get all 4 leads back, even if he wastes everyone but Han.
It's a bunch of hollow nostalgia wrapped in spectacle (Falcon go zoom! Pew pew! Lightsabers!!!).

we will find out who Supreme Leader Snoke is in future movies. i STILL feel he should have been Palpatine's Sith Master Darth Plaguies (mentioned by Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith). Snoke even had Plaguies' theme playing in his first scene that was playing in the scene in Revenge of the Sith when Palpatine told the tale to Anakin in the Galaxies Opera House on Coruscant. it is a missed opportunity.
Snoke (dumb name aside) is yet another hollow mystery box. It doesn't matter who or what he is, because JJ does nothing with him. He's a literal 'big bad', who has no impact other than to tell the FO to keep doing what they are doing. All set-up and no substance makes for a boring villain.
Still better than the prequels. Not by a lot in places but still better.

See Star Wars episode 8 and 9
So, when this came out, i understood why people hated it but i enjoyed it. It was a great new start.
But i hate HATE part 8. And now i hate 7, and have never watched 9. (Yes, I know what happens though).
I really hate thatbafter all these years, we never got to see Luke, Leia, Han together again. And that sin is fully on episode 7.

I skipped 8, still haven't seen it but I've heard so much about it. Now if I want to see old Luke I go watch the Bad Lip Reading My Stick.
Episode 7 had a lot of issues, but it was a "fine" starting point for a new trilogy. The other two are just fustercluck, though. Can't even rewatch them anymore.

Yes, Han Solo is dead. Sad, but the Luke we meet in the next film is an even more sad experience. Ep.7 is actually the best of the trilogy.
I think it’s telling that after this and the utter abomination that is The Rise of Skywalker, JJ Abrams hasn’t written or directed another movie. He did such a bloody awful job that it’s taking him years to remove the stigma.

Rian Johnson messed this movie up. Scratch that. He messed this trilogy up. He took J.J. Abram's story and shat all over it; Lucas' story too =/
What's wild about all this is that Disney, after spending $4.05 billion dollars to Star Wars, Disney thought it would be a great idea to write a trilogy as they went. WHO THE F' DOES THAT?! winging a report or homework never goes well, so why would it work for a billion dollar IP?!
I don't know how you fix the many issues Rian left on Disney door step with grenade in the middle of the trilogy, but Dave Filoni has accepted the challenge. His work so far is pretty stellar. I guess the good news is that he has 30 years to build on before touching this hot mess. I hope he pulls it off. Fingers crossed!
Rian Johnson made the best Star Wars we've gotten. JJ Abrams loved The Last Jedi.
Dave Filoni also credits Rian Johnson with teaching him everything he knows about live action directing.
George Lucas made up the OT as he went along. Try again.

You like Rian's Star Wars story. Awesome. I don't, and I'm not alone. Many people didn't enjoy it, and neither did Disney. 42% of moviegoers gave it a favorable rating.
The Force Awakens was loved by critics and fans alike! The Rise of Skywalker didn't do well with critics but did surprisingly well with moviegoers. JJ had a difficult task, and I'm not so sure that he pulled it off. Filoni is playing clean-up right now, so the jury is still out on that.
I don't see how what Filoni said about Rian factors into what I said. It is possible to make a bad movie and have good action scenes.

For a guy who was a teenager when Star Wars opened in 1977, this FARCE really made me angry.
There are whole video essays about how they rewrote the established lore and other stuff.
As for Han going back to piracy... utterly risible. He just defeated the Empire and married a Princess... why the frig would he go back to crime.
This is a literal insult to the millions who made Star Wars a phenomenon.

Solo was a smuggler, not a pirate. HUGE difference. It's what he was before he joined the Rebellion, and it makes sense that since he didn't stick around with Leia, he'd go back to doing what he did when he was single.

This movies were box office smashes for a reason and it's not just because they slapped Star Wars on the title. Not every Star Wars movie had remotely the same success as these movies did.

This sequel, trilogy is not George Lucas's vision and version. George Lucas was starting to work on the sequel. Trilogy, before he sold Lucas films to Disney. First, George Lucas sold the sequel trilogy rights to Disney. Then he sold Lucas film to Disney. After Disney purchased Lucas film Disney trash, his sequel trilogy version and went their own way. Disney did not tell Lucas that. Lucas found out when he showed up to help work on the sequel trilogy. It's pathetic and sickening to know that all these young fans likes what Disney did to George Lucas. The guy who created Star Wars. The Star Wars Archives vol 1 and 2 XL edition talks about George Lucas's sequel trilogy. There is Strong evidence that Disney Lucas film is losing money and has been losing money since the release of the sequel trilogy. The only Star Wars is George Lucas's Star Wars and that is movies. 1 through 6 and Clone Wars seasons, 1 through 5. There is an exception for one Disney movie and that is Rogue One. That's because George Lucas called the writer and gave his seal of approval.
