The thing that made me most sad about Shuggie Bain was… that I didn’t really like it 😭 I had such high expectations, but I found the writing a bit clumsy and I found it so repetitive (although I know it was partly the point). I wanted to love it so much! Sparrow sounds interesting though. Will be looking out for it!
Hope you're feeling better now! I am not an a little life fan but I do love me a good sad book nonetheless 😅 I am so looking forward to reading sparrow when I get the chance 🤗 I have read young mungo which was a very good sad boy book and since I have shuggie bain which I am looking forward to reading all the more. The food all looked great! And yay for seeing florence and the machine, they are amazing!
Can you do a tutorial on your hair curling technique? I've never seen this before but it looks amazing! (and difficult tbh). Is it just a bathrobe belt or a specific curling product?
I felt like Shuggie Bain was too long. Plus the number of perspectives felt excessive, especially because some of the characters just weren’t that interesting to me.
honestly I thought shuggie bain was the exact type of depressing book that's specifically written to win awards. It was too much to the point where it felt unrealistic, and Shuggie's mother (is it Agnes?) lacked enough depth for me to be able to care about her.
Excellent reading vlog as usual, thank you for bringing Sparrow to my attention. A Little Life was just the new Jude The Obscure when it came out, she even stole the protagonists name. 😉
Here’s the problem with watching your videos. I usually want to go read the books immediately! I blame you for my enormous tbr 😑. Hmmmph (Jk I love your videos 😊)
I'm glad these are written by men, I've never read A Little Life but it's always rubbed me the wrong way that it was written by a woman (I'd feel the same way if it was lesbian trauma-porn written by a man).
Yeah, I really hate that A Little Life isn't an own voices novel That plus the fact that she admitted she did NO RESEARCH in regard to the really extensive childhood trauma that Jude experiences makes the whole thing feel exploitative and gross

Just a bathrobe belt! I just watch other people's tutorials to do it - search 'tiktok dressing gown trick'!
I lived in Glasgow between 2013-2020. I want to read Shuggie Bain because of that, but I'm also super scared of it.
Emma why would you DO THIS TO YOURSELF?! NOOOOO (but I'm glad you "enjoyed" being sad 😅)

Shuggie baen i have just put on order and will start reading it on the 29 of November and I will try and let you know what I think about it ❤❤❤

Oh I found her such a wonderful character!

What was the mushroom dish that you made?

exactly -- it feels rather weird to me that all of Hanya Yanagihara's books seem to be about gay men suffering

@@blemmettand she doesn’t believe in therapy for mental health.
