    I would add the 'The Bioneer' to this list. He is in a category of his own in my opinion. What I learnt from him was the gym isn't the only place to build muscle. Functional strength for me is now where it's at - not necessarily big muscles that was my goal for too many years.
    This is definitely not a criticism of gym culture. If you want big muscles and the ability to move big poundages, the gym is the ultimate place to develop that. If you want functional strength, speed, power and flexibility, the gym is only an optional extra.

    • @_Yep_Yep_
      @_Yep_Yep_ 2 года назад +31

      Bioneer is pretty boss. I think you are correct. He is so extreme that i think he gets perceived as an outlier...but the fact is that Bioneer is batshit crazy about fitness and puts in extraordinary work.

    • @ienjoyapples
      @ienjoyapples 2 года назад +24

      The Bioneer is way outside the mainstream, so I could imagine a lot of fitness traditionalists thinking he's full of shit. Traditional fitness is sport-specific: powerlifting, bodybuilding, athletics, etc. I see fitness going more and more in the direction the bioneer is going, expanding the capabilities of your body as far and wide as you can, rather than a narrow focus on a particular sport. Most of us aren't competitive athletes. We just want a strong, aesthetic and capable body.

    • @MrCmon113
      @MrCmon113 2 года назад +4

      Wtf is "functional strength". You are strong in a certain movement and you decide what movements you want to be strong in. What's "functional" for a rock climbers is not as "functional" for a swimmer.

      @Awonya 2 года назад +18

      @speedymd22 2 года назад

      @@MrCmon113 Your right there is really no functional strength for humans anymore like there was thousands of years ago. We can get away with being lazy peices of shit because there is no need for athletism for survival. So thats why the bioneer clarify's superfunctional training which means training to do stuff we dont actually need to survive. Because its cool.

      I always took Athlean's advice and routines as a loaded lecture or comprehensive manual. I never expected to be doing everything that he says you should be doing, because honestly the load and time needed is just silly. No working man has that much time and energy on their hands. It's usually really good advice and insight, but it's certainly far more intense and complicated than most people need.

I think that yes, studies have shown that the adherence to keto diet is lower compared to some other diets but I'm not going to dismiss it for the few people who do and can adhere to it. My only point is that being in a caloric deficit is the only way to lose fat and it doesn't matter what diet model you follow.

Not saying he didn't mean well as he said he was doing the first program himself. Perhaps, didn't think it through. Gave a really bad piece of advise nevertheless.

    How Jeremy Ethier is left off this list boggles my mind. I think he deserves a place, even if there's only 6 spots. His content are creme de la creme among fitness youtubers, as just about everything he releases is very solid, backed by science/studies. On the other hand, someone who is on this list, such as Mario Tomic, is spot on (usually), but most of his videos are anecdotal (personal experience, not based on science), he rehashes and says the same things over and over again in a short span of time (example, in the last 3-4 months he released 3 videos on the exact same topic....fat-burning), and a lot of his material is more motivational rather than rigorously informative. Jeremy overtakes Mario, every time.
    I would even say, guys like Sean Nalewanyj, who boasts about being scientific, hardly ever cites the actual science. He wants you to *assume* what he's saying is scientific, and take his word for it. Both Mario and Sean speak confidently and authoritatively (respectively), which gives off the feeling like they know what they're talking about. I'll give those 2 guys credit, they generally *ARE* on-point...but they rarely back up what they say, and to me that is *problematic* . Why? If you don't back up what you're saying, even if you're correct, what makes you more credible than the sketchy fitness content creators that plague youtube? You are hardly better than them. Without evidence for your points, you're essentially just saying "trust me, because I'm right, trust me because I say so". Jeremy on the other hand, will show you the actual studies and explain the science, anatomy, physiology, and logic, EVERY....SINGLE....TIME. In my view he ought to be #1 on everyone's list.
    And on top of that, he just seems like a nice, humble guy. **He lets his quality content do the talking,** and doesn't get his jollies off "exposing" the fakers on youtube. If you do that, you're going to get into a never-ending cycle of "exposing". Sure you don't want people to be wasting their time with the fakers out there, but I say again....let your content do the talking! We're not stupid. If I watch a V-Shred video, and then watch a Jeremy video on the same topic, I'm going to realise there are OBVIOUS discrepancies and differences in their recommendations, some of which are very polar opposites. In that case, with Jeremy's content being backed by sound science, guess who I'm going to conclude is correct? Releasing video after video after video "exposing" the fakers just makes guys like Sean sound cynical, and to be quite honest, like a booty hole desperate for attention and viewership.
    Having said all that, yes I understand this list is just one reporter's opinion, and he can put whomever he wants on it. I just personally think Jeremy's such an obvious choice, and even to take top spots....such that not being on such a list at all, throws me off, like, WUH??? LoL

    Greg is probably the best on the list, to me, because he understands the need to market, and thus balances out the info with marketing tactics. But there were also some different outcomes they were looking for... and most 'Quality' Lady RUclipsrs, who are truly training for athletic performance, are going to focus on those outcomes that most apply to female Athletes. {And I am not talking about Aerobics video's and 'Dance for fitness' programs.} Some times there ARE differences in male and female needs with OUT being labeled "Sexist" ... Hey Sean, great video, but I have a question.... It actually has to do with a previous critique video you did on Jeff Cavalier.... I have been following Jeff's programs for a couple years, and have had great results... He has helped me through a neck injury, and I feel better than I ever have... Now I know he isn't the right guy for EVERYTHING fitness, but I love his science based overall athletic approach... If I wanted to become a body builder I would follow John Meadows for example... If I wanted to be a strongman I would follow Thor or Eddie Hall.... If I wanted to be a calisthenics guru I would follow the guy from Fitness FAQ's (sorry not sure what his name is, the Australian guy, lol).... My point, or moreover my question, is what about Jeff don't you like? Other than the fake weight issue, which I get, and his products are a bit pricey... But beyond that, do you think he gives quality advice and content? I mean the guy has been an athletic trainer for a really long time, working with a lot of big name athletes who swear by his training model... I guess the main reason I ask is because, although I hear you and agree with you on the fact of his fake weight usage (but to be honest there can be many reasons he chose to do that...), I wanted to see if you felt he has quality content beyond that? Is that the only reason he didn't make your recommended list? Thanks for your time, I do enjoy your content brother, and value your input, hence why I am even asking you this... Have a great day.

      The guy may sell pricy products but it's not like he goes on and on advertising them as if he was the only solution to your problems. As for the fake weights, I really couldn't care less cause his videos aren't about the weight, it's about the form, he's mostly doing reps as an exemple to show you the do's and don'ts. I don't care if a guy can bench press 300lbs, if he has a shit form and is not at all instructive, I won't give him any respect.

    I found Coach Greg during the lockdown and let me tell ya, his non nonsense approach to burning calories while gaining muscle helped me lose weight and keep it off. Helped me change my mindset on how I should workout while not overcomplicating things. I don't have anything against the Nippards of the worlds, but I feel they're just adding way too much complicated information. Me,. I like it simple since I'm not planning on competing or participate in some form of over 45 Body Building events.

    The Buff Dudes have always been my favorites. They're very beginner friendly, their info is science based and it's presented in a fun way. They got something for everybody.

    • @shredd5705
      @shredd5705 Год назад

      There's honestly lot of good ones who give 95% correct information to get buff (without steroids). Building muscle is hard but not complex, the primary driving force is between your ears = pure guts. I mean sure you need correct form, compound lifts, enough protein yada yada but that information has been floating in the internet for 20+ years. Arnold Golden Six, whatever.
      Now the information is easier to find than ever, from videos like this guy makes. But building muscle isn't rocket science, it's primarily a guts thing (and THAT is what causes most people to fail). The muscle doesn't know/see what you are doing, it only knows if it's contracting hard or not. And if it happens often enough or not.
