Just a note, as there seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the labels- I did mention right in the video that I DO still need to add labels, though I’m not sure what I want that to look like just yet. But yes, labels need to be and will be added. 😊
Additionally- when I was referring to possibly having the laser cut out walnut veneer for the drawer faces, I didn’t mean just the label area. My original plan was to face the drawers with the walnut veneer. The whole face, not just the little label area. Apologies if I didn’t explain that well enough, there seems to be a bit of miscommunication there. I’ve since decided I want to leave them as is, painted, and just add my labels as I intended to. ❤

Paper labels of a color that matches the apothecary style unit. Only because some wild floral would be too hard to read 😮.

Regular Ole olive oil is great for getting stickers off. I add some to a little spray bottle and scratch up the stickers then use the oil wait a couple seconds to a minute or so and then I use a old plastic card with a paper towel wrapped around and scrap over the area and then wipe up the rest with remainder of the paper towels and it usually is all gone never had a problem

I agree with other commentors; I like the colors just as is. FYI, whenever I have a need to use either Goo Gone or Goof Off, I've found that heat from a hairdryer can often soften the adhesive enough to pull it off easily; slow and steady is the key. You might have to use a little scraper to lift a corner, but then use the dryer underneath as you pull.

Quick tip on adhesive removal - use WD40 and an old toothbrush. Also, as crazy as it sounds, creamy peanut butter works. Smear it on. Let it soak for a few minutes and wipe off with paper towel. If the adhesive is stubborn you can rub the peanut butter with a paper towel then wipe it off.

WD40 works well on adhesives. Also a janitorial product called Resolves-All. It's sold as a gum remover but works on so many other things too.
I love how humble you always are. I know i am not the only one, Angie. I recently watched another "flipper" literally destroy an old treadle sewing machine cabinet/base. Nothing like you at all. And so unrepentedly rude about her opinion when multiple commenters decried her horrible use of color. She did no prep work, although she lied and said she did off-camera (you could tell because the same dirty nasty spots were there throughout the entire video!). There are so many others who do such terrible work and have such bad attitudes. You are so sweet, even when you don't have to be. And the work you do, is always in the service of the item. Love you!

This is so cool! For the adhesive removal, there's a product called Rapid Remover which I used, along with a heat gun and a razor blade, to remove elderly, peeling, and deeply hideous vinyl stripes and swooshes from a big RV. It worked really well, when Goof Off and all my other solvents did nothing. It didn't damage the RV wall, either.

Oh my goodness, do these cabinets bring back memories. When working in a medical school and research back in the day before Internet, these cabinets were used to house copies of manuscripts that had been published. If the manuscript was excepted for publication, then we would order copies of that article. Request would arrive from around the world for a copy that article that would get mailed out. Each drawer held a different manuscript. I think we had four of these cabinets. They were always gray, label holder riveted. I would give anything to have these to house my craft projects now.

As always, a thorough approach creates a fantastic result. I'd make a chart on paper and put it inside a protective sleeve. You could adhere it to the side of the cabinet so you know what's in each drawer or you could keep it somewhere else in the shop to access it when you need it. The fronts stay clean, but you aren't spending valuable time searching drawers for what you need. An excellent addition to the shop, esp with the repurposed top and bottom!

I'm loving the monochrome look, so i'd save the walnut for another project. Great job as always, and what a space saver! I love the clever idea of putting the cabinets back to back and setting them on a spinnable platform as well. Being a big fan of metal cabinets and lockers myself, i'm so glad of the inspiration.

Looking so much better than the plastic bins. Excellent!

I’d leave it as is - easier to touch up if it gets scratched or something. And if you don’t like the gap between the two cabinets, you could get some of that stripping that they put between a stove and a countertop. I know that comes in black and is designed to fill a small gap like that.
Super pretty and functional - nice job!

Being from Scotland myself, complete with a family castle in western Scotland, of course I know what a sporran is. I actually live in western Canada with my Canadian husband but the rest of my family still lives in Scotland with a few in England and Wales as well. Excellent job on the cabinets but then you always do a wonderful job. There’s nothing like having your work room organized and everything in its place.

I absolutely love the way this turned out! My husband and I need to do something similar. His work was getting rid of a lot of old things, and we ended up with two somewhat similar filing cabinets. Of course, the two cabinets are completely different from each other -- but we each chose one of them, and will be filling them! His for his shop, mine in my craft room. Love the idea of putting them on casters.

I would love the addition of walnut. This is incredible! You are evolving your workshop into a woodworker’s dream. I’ve been watching for a couple of years. Thank you for letting us come along for the ride.

You even are capable to turn a boring cabinet into a beautiful and also very practical piece to work with ! And don t put veneer at the front but keep it as it is right now and it still having a industrial look in combination with beautiful wood on top and bottom !!! Love this video and it was something totally different !!

It would take way too many hours to put the cut outs on each drawer. I think it looks fine without them. I had a similar cabinet and made inserts with slightly thicker paper and set the parameters on my computer to fit the slots. Then I fed in all the data, and printed it off. I cut the inserts with a razor blade and they fit perfectly. I think your project turned out beautifully, Angie. We always look forward to your projects. Thanks bunches. Much love, Dave & Amy 🤗❤
