Thank you so much, this has been very powerful insight into the treasure of the Bhagavad Gita. 🙏 However, I am very troubled. In my thinking, the best way I can serve any being would be to point them to Knowledge of the Self. Nobody in my life is interested in this however, I am in America and I don't see anybody who is trying to understand the Self as I am. Since I am white, they don't even like me very much at the Hindu temple which is 2 hours drive away. So how can I serve the immanent God in the people around me? In this age of adharma it is very confusing some times. For example, if I want to serve my aunt, she is obese and literally all she does is watch TV and eat junk food. So if I serve her by doing what she wants for her, I am helping her for example by picking up fast food for her. So, how can I serve others in this world when all they want is to do such things? If I were to fight for the American army, I do believe I would be engaged in unjust killing even though society would praise me at large. If I tell the truth to people like my aunt, they get upset and uncomfortable. So, how can I serve God in them during this age? There seems to be so much willful and confused ignorance in the world now. I wish that Krishna were here with me to give me advice, I have to find Him in my heart.
Namaste. Did anybody at the mandir say anything racist about you? Regarding serving Bhagavān in others, knowledge of the Self unfortunately isn’t something most people are ready for. It takes countless lifetimes before one is prepared for it. Additionally, I would say don’t focus on the Self in other people. Rather, when you do what is dharmic, do it as yagña for the Self who is seated in _your_ heart and present everywhere. I have personally found peace and satisfaction this way. Like you, I’m a lone Hindu except I’m somewhere in East Asia.
