I met this band at Warped last year. They are so incredibly nice. We had a good chat about anime too. I don't see why people don't like them. This is such a cool way to mix together different genres of music. But we all have different tastes in music. Annnddd Janice Griffith is in this video? Nice.

It's the lyrics and song structure that are generic. They're bringing nothing new to the table. The Issues song at the end of this video did it well. I See Stars is still doing it well. This is just taking what those bands did and breaking it down to a very base structure, like what pop music does.
If you really go down to the bone and want to call a band generic just think.. some of these "generic" bands even care if they are "generic" or not? Most bands just make music and take what fans they have and accept what they get whether its huge success or just a small bit. At least with most bands on Rise, not a diss or sarcasm btw just how i personally see it.
Matthew Ockler people are just upset that so bands that are bringing nothing new to the table, while tons of locals and others are doing amazing work without getting noticed. If this band wasn't signed, or at least signed by a small label, it wouldn't be a problem. These "genericore" bands have been overplayed for a long time.
Adovock It's not just the bands though too, it's the fans or people who listen to it who put labels on it and drive the music into the ground along side the already "generic" music.

Sure it's different from their previous stuff and this particular song might sound a bit mainstream but hey fuck the haters cause I enjoyed this song a lot!

What comes to this song though, the lyrics I find to be actually really good and I don't think anyone has even complained about them. It's just the fact that this song doesn't sound something you'd expect coming from Palisades and some people are having a hard time adjusting their minds to their new sound. For me, I listen to everything from hands up to hard dance to electro to metalcore to synth pop to heavy metal... the list could go on. I feel like this song is a great mix of a few genres I'm into. Feel free to disagree but I'm really diggin' this and my opinion can't be shaked.

I will not be disappointed by this album! I love rap/metal/pop/electronicore/Rock/trance/Dubstep etc this is the perfect track! Most people wouldn't enjoy it as much as I do, it's been on repeat all day. But it's perfect, everything I love so much going on. Killer track from a killer up and coming band! UK fan here;)

+Kylie K The thing about "metal" kids, regardless of whether they prescribe to classic metal or metalcore is that they are extremely judgmental about anything that isn't a carbon copy of what they already have enough of, and when you add "trendy" mainstream elements to their precious "original" music, they really really like to flame. (not all of course, but I think you know the type when you come across them.)
I don't really think this is amazing music, but it's not any worse than half of rise records' bands.

One of the best new post-hardcore bands out there. People only hate them because they can't comprehend that some people like electronic and rock together.
These guys are going to get the Breathe Carolina syndrome where the fans were used to the Hello Fascination days so when something like Savages was released most people disliked it because it changed the bands direction entirely, but I still dug it. Honestly though, I loved palisades first album, and this one IS taking more of an EDM route, but you know what? Shit pumps me up. If you're expecting the electronic hardcore that was Outcasts, this probably wouldn't be the song/album for you. But I can appreciate this new direction just as much

I absolutely LOVE Palisades!!!! Seen them live many times & they are definitely badass! Always in the front crowd getting hype to their awesome vibe! Plus they are some of the coolest people I've met. They definitely give a sh*t about their fans unlike 90% of other bands I've met. Can't wait to see How far these cats go.

I guess you have to have a certain maturity level to appreciate this. It's not like the whole album sounds like this. I mean there's a lot of edm/electronic aspects to it but that's just them trying not to get stuck In a mold of sounding like every other Rise band. I appreciate the growth and the guts to try something different than their usual. I still have much love for Palisades.
I've been following you guys since your first EP, and this song shows just how much you've grown as a band. You guys bring originality to the scene and although there will always be people who can't handle change. Keep doing what you're doing, I can't wait to see this song live at warped tour!

I like it a lot, they are mixing different styles of music (edm and metal/post-hardcore), and it's quite different than the other bands =) I think mixing two "generic" things doesn't make the all thing "generic" !! =D
I like this kind of music for one reason, bring people from edm to metal, thats all.

Thing is with Palisades they are definitely reaching out to a different fan base and not so much the metal fan base but the edm/rap/pop fan base and it is definitely a different style and direction that we really shouldn't hate on just because it "generic" which if it was there would be a ton of other things like it and there's not they need to just reach out to a different crowd

well Velocity Records belongs to Rise so technically they're still signed to them.
Yeah, there's been SO MANY years since Rise doesn't sign only metalcore. Palisades, for example, has been signed to them since 2011. They also have PVRIS, Man Overboard, Emily's Army, Dave Hause... Hell, even Matty Mullins and Tyler Carter solo stuff. Even Sleeping With Sirens, when they were signed to them, was more towards the alternative rock side (despite the first album).

Before I even met them one of the staff members of the venue pushed a fan off the stage in a Randy Blythe fashion, the entire band stopped immediately, and the frontman proceeded to make sure if the person who got pushed was alright.
They then blew me away again a second time when I met them, and they proceeded to be the most down to earth touring acts i've EVER met, absolutely no shit from these guys, super genuine people.

And one more thing, that this shit is easy to play don't make it bad, because the music is not only harmony or breakdowns, the lyrics are important to, so you can't make a generic garbage if you want but if the lyrics are catchy you're in. Honestly I've never been a fan of these guys as a band at least (I've like a few songs here and there) and I've never thought they were bad, just didn't stand out. But when Player Haters Ball came out I was kind of excited for this album. I was let down tbh. And honesty they messed up this song the same way they did with High &Low, structure wise this song is basically high & low part 2

Oh no, a band is trying new things to try to make some money for themselves and not satisfy only you. What a terrible thing that is! I'm not a superfan of Palisades, but when you hear the second track from a band's album and automatically assume they're selling out, that is when you have every right to step out as the fairweather fan you are.
