those Florida east coast trains is that a fuel car between the lead locomotives? Doesnt seem like enough horn for the 15-20 seconds on that Grupo México train.

Yes, the tank car between the locomotives holds liquified natural gas used to feed the two lead locomotives when the engines are running at road speed. They are capable of burning up to 80% Natural Gas but require some diesel for ignition. The horn sounding on the FEC I always found to be pretty limited compared to other places but it seems to be what they do there. Their crossing gates do activate way ahead of the train arrival.
