Marty did you like thee oh sees? Can you make some how to?
Hey, how do you only target 3 strings without buzzing other ones?
Marty I love your courses. Please make a Funk/Soul course.
Your the greatest man I started playing when you did don't speak like 10 years ago if not for your videos I'd be at it alone thank homie
I hate all these ads that say I'm wasting my time watching videos on youtube on how to play guitar. Nah dude, I'm watching the best teacher on the site lol
I hate it too. I say to myself, "Ignore and carry on."
Like 80% of the time when I watch one of Marty’s videos I come away with something I can make use of forever.
Agreed👍
Best teacher on site? That’ll be Carl Brown
Forreal I grew up on Marty and grew as a musician 🙂
The comments section for Marty's videos is the most positive corner of the internet
thanks felix! I feel so grateful that it is that way!
Play that funky music white boy
I feel as Marty is one of the best sources for Blues and Funk! Cheers for the lesson as always man
ehm, did you forget about Justin???
@@milanherich4169 I said ONE of the best. Justin is as well phenomenal
my man Marty taught me all the chords i know
Nobody's ever called me a Funk-a-teer before. Thanks to Marty, I am one now! Great lesson on funk technique. We appreciate what you do.
Marty has been spreading joy through his lessons for so long. Can't begin to appreciate how much my levels have gone up just from practicing his videos once a week. Truly amazing dedication from this guy!
What I appreciate about Marty Music is that he has a genuine personality.
Superb teaching. You are a great teacher. Your way of explaining even the most difficult things in a very easy manner is exemplary.
I've spent months trying to play some funk, 2 mins on here and nailed it. So easy to follow you as you dont stop playing when your explaining. Great stuff
you're a teacher, I've been following you since 2012 thanks for helping me play better funk
And bringing In the 'bottom' strings is definitely a funky piece of work. Like you said it adds texture.
finally bought my first guitar! youre a joy to watch and make me feel like i could play anything i put my mind too!! thanks for the inspiration dude!! 👌🏻
@Christian Arreola cheers dude!! 👊🏻
I totally loved that lesson. Thank you so much. Love the fUnK!!
i was just effing around and suddenly made this distinct james brown thing and here i am getting all the 'other parts' of this thing!
thank you so much!
I finally got reunited with my pedals after everything being in storage for 7 months.
Moving into my new place I got my music stuff in a little at a time.
Brilliant timing for your Funk show.
Got me motivated. That and some looping tips from That Pedal Show.
Had to relearn the RC-3 operations; been so long I'd forgotten.
Stuck a little 4 bar funk groove in it (2 parts) and Meant to jam lead all over it.
Instead I stumbled upon a load of double stop stuff and sliding broken chords that I'd not put together before.
Okay AND a bit of mindless lead too …
I learned that little E6 thing when Blow By Blow came out, but never really did a lot with it other than "You Know What I mean"
As a lifelong bass player I'm really enjoying my discoveries in the realm of the thin string guitar.
Looping is So immediate in giving you something to play against whether writing, practising or just noodling.
How did we ever manage before without them ?
Oh! I remember. Lot's of scratched records from fumbling to get the needle back at the right place in the track ….
Thanks mate
On a strat bridge and middle pick up together sound so good for funk!
Marty your so amazing! Whenever i search for something to play on guitar, you always show up! You actually taught me my first guitar lesson!
This represents a noble effort in coordination for me. But with consistent practice I think that I can get it together. Thanks Marty
What a GREAT lesson! You never cease to amaze with your playing. Thanks Marty
Love you bro..you are a great teacher...i still remember back on 2012 i watched one of your lessons regarding minor pentatonic scales used in blues jam, Still i use those techniques in my playing.😊😊😊
He makes it look so easy the strumming and pressing technique is so hard
Incredible lesson. Marty has one of the best (if not the best) teaching methods I have come across. It’s like learning from a friend only better.
Thank you Marty for the dedication to us
Good one, Marty🤙 Hey, since Frusciante is back home with the chili's, any chance of doing a Fru-funk lesson? Thanks for all you do, man!!! Aloha
No "by the way" lesson from marty yet!!! That uses a lot of this sorta thing!! Love to see Marty's take on that track!
Yeeeeesssssssss
Marty is hands down the best YT guitar instructor, I've been learning from him for about 10 years now, great lesson!
Good lesson Marty.
I loved your Al McKay (EWF Fame) shout out! One of my favorite rhythm G-players!! Great Funk lesson. You do it all!!
I appreciate everything you share with us, I’ve been playing for awhile now but am always open to learning more from others.

Brilliant lesson, thanks Marty. You have an old punk rocker funking out!

We need more of these! This might just be the coolest video I’ve ever seen
Man I have advanced so much over the year just watching your videos, full support and I know you want as much support as you can!
I've learned so much from this cat. Marty, I can't thank you enough my brother.
Oh maarty i starte playing guitar in 2011 and i watched many many Videos from you. Then i had an accidant and my i was like 6 years not into learning New Songs. Now i am more excited then ever to Hit it 🎉🎉 and you are still one of the best teacher
Keep it up man and thank you 💚
Oh my god. Three minutes in, and Marty's fixed my problem. I thought I WASN'T supposed to pick up the rhythm from the bass and drums, but just stick to the 16-note groove. But no, it sounds better if you follow the rhythm.
That E9 chord is difficult! Great vid,Marty! Thanks!
Thank you Marty. You are amazing. I have never seen someone break down funk into such logical pieces before. Cheers. Keep on rocking.
Growing up listening to soul music always loved the funk guitar. But fell in love with Rock and Roll and screaming guitars. Just this week was working on James Brown. Why Jimi Hendrix had such funky electric riffs. Right on bro.
Great lesson. Thankyou🤘🎸👍
I could listen to that all night
Great Lesson. Thanks
Great lesson, super fun! I like how thoroughly and clearly Marty breaks things down.
Woah! Great lesson, tons of useful techniques. Funk/disco is so subtle, love learning it.
Yes Sir! Learning So Much Marty. 🙏👏 Saving all these videos for ME time! Woohoo!🎸♥️
I'm glad you did this lesson, I like funk but I've never tried to play much funk, this lesson might change that
Great fun! Never tried this before. Wow. You make it look so easy. Your teaching style makes all the difference. Thanks.
Thanks Marty, a inspired guitar lesson. Lets groove...
Marty Schwartz deserves to be in the rock and roll hall of fame.
I saw Martin at NAMM and was too shy to ask for a picture but then I saw him get out
From where he was playing guitar snd was walking towards me and that’s when I said hi and he took a picture with me and my gf. Best experience. I’ve been wanting to learn funk too! Thanks!
The best such an inspiration this man.

Very cool, I have been playing guitar forever, but now have to play some funk at church. This is very helpful!!!

Marty the secret to play funk is keep the strumming hand as relax as possible, that's why I can't do it ,great lesson as always
I’m building some the funk feelings. Thanks to the awesome video 👍!

Once again, thank you Marty. I've got some work to do on the muting at that tempo, and I am totally funked-up for the day. I appreciate all your help. Thanks again!
Love this lesson but mostly love the SHR Shirt that you are wearing!!
Thanks Marty. You are great. Waiting for a Prince tutorial (Cream, Purple Rain...)
FINALLY, I’ve been waiting for so long but the marty schwartz god has heard my prayers
I started here 20years ago..and I'm still here.
Love that intro song. Great lesson.
Awesome video Marty
So awesome! Imma be playing along with this! Gracias M
Missed you at NAMM! Thank you for the high end, easy to understand lessons.
My God I learned so much from this lesson. Thank you so much Marty!
A really taste one... I appreciate this lesson.
Fun stuff! Thanks Marty!
Beautiful lesson like always Marty!! Your awesome!
That was fun, look forward to trying it out.
Thanks for the tutorial Marty! I have been subscribed since you had 500k, I have learned a lot of songs from your tutorials
Marty love your channel. You inspired me to get my own RUclips channel and I just want to say thank you
No yoda today! Rocking it Marty. Had to be the strat for Nile 👍
Great lesson! This might sound basic to some but I always thought the muting for funk came from my strumming hand. When Marty showed you do it with the fretting hand I was like "that's how you do it!!"
Funk is always on the one. The first beat of the measure.
Good lesson Marty !! You always give me a lot of new ideas in my playing, thanks! 😎
so helpful man all of your videos are
Great lesson man! Thanks for sharing and especially explains the chord structures. I’ve always found using a thin pick helps me to get that percussive sound while strumming. It’s so impressive how you can do that with a thick pick man. ✌🏻🎸🎼
Can you do more funk lessons? I find them very useful and fun. Thanks!
cool marty more of those funk lesson, why not on your webside a bunch on funk lessons stiles and progressions ideas with used technics in funk...
PLEEEEEEEASE!!!!
So one day someone got tired of feeling sad and took their blues roots and said "let's boogie" 😂
Exactly my guy, he said “funk it, lets funk”
You are a amazing guitar player
just started to learn a bit of funk this is great marty 👍
Prince (1999,), Lakeside (Your Love Is On The One and Something About That Woman,), 24-7SPYZ (Valdez 27 Million), Chic (Good Times).
You're my first teacher, just started learning.
Marty, thanks for the inspiring licks!
